Length of self-retaining suture and method and device for using the same
A method and device for anchoring a length of self-retaining suture. The method of anchoring includes providing for an assembly having a length of self-retaining suture and a suture insertion device. The length of suture includes at least a portion of the length having a plurality of retainers thereon extending in a first direction. The insertion device has a length and a recess to receive a portion of the suture length. The method further includes placing a portion of the suture length in the recess and inserting the device into the body of a mammal until the recess reaches a predetermined location thereby forming an insertion pathway. The method further includes retrieving the insertion device from the body by moving the insertion device in a direction substantially opposed to the insertion pathway.
Sharps Passing Tray
A medical tray (10) is adapted to receive a medical instrument (90) and has one or more longitudinally extending instrument receiving recesses (22) adapted to receive at least a part of the medical instrument (90), one or more instrument support members (30, 32, 36, 38, 40, 82) and at least one instrument access opening, slot or recess (86) at a longitudinal end of a peripheral wall, whereby the instrument (90) may be located longitudinally in the tray (10) with at least part (92) of the instrument supported on one or more instrument support members (30, 32, 36, 38, 40, 82), another part (94) may extend out of the tray via the instrument access opening (86) with a cutting edge or point of the medical instrument located in at least one instrument receiving recess (22).
Medicament information system and method
Various exemplary embodiments relate to a method of using an emergency medicament device. The method includes reading an ID tag from the medicament device using a mobile device; automatically requesting instructions for using the medicament device based on the ID tag; and displaying a video to a user of the mobile device, the video providing instructions for using the medicament device in accordance with approved labeling of the medicament device. Various exemplary embodiments relate to an electronic medicament device including: a reservoir configured to store an amount of medication for treating anaphylaxis; an administration component for administering the medication to a patient; a processor communicatively connected to a memory storing medicament device information; and an identification tag configured to be read by another device, the identification tag providing the medicament device information including identification of instructions for using the medicament device.
Safety-blade dispenser and related methods
Safety-blade dispensers for safely storing surgical blades prior to surgery and optionally for retrieving used surgical blades after surgery. In either case, the safety-blade dispenser is configured to store one or more surgical blades in an orientation that allows a user to simply and safely attach a surgical tool handle to the surgical blades (and optionally remove the handle from the surgical blades) without requiring the user to physically touch or manipulate the surgical blades by hand. The safety-blade dispensers disclosed herein may be used alone or in conjunction with a system and method of preventing wrong-site surgery.
Medicament storage, dispensing, and administration system and method
Various exemplary embodiments relate to an electronic device for dispensing a medicament. The electronic device may include a medicament storage case or an electronic medicament device. The medicament storage case includes: a door moveable between an open position and a closed position; a lock moveable between a locked position where the lock maintains the door in the closed position and an unlocked position where the lock allows the door to move to the open position; a medicament dispensing device containing medication; an input device located on an external surface of the storage case activatable by a user; a communication unit configured to initiate a two-way communication between the user and a remote access control center upon activation of the input device and configured to receive an access signal from the remote access control center; and an actuator responsive to the access signal to move the lock to the open position upon receipt of the communication from the remote access control center. The electronic medicament device includes a reservoir configured to store an amount of medication, an administration component for administering the medication to a patient, and a processor communicatively connected to a memory.
DEVICE COMPRISING AN ABRASIVE SURFACE FOR USE IN PERSONAL CARE
The present invention relates to a device (1) comprising an abrasive material (2) and a connection material (3), wherein the abrasive material (2) is disc shaped and comprise a front-side (4) and a back-side (5), the front-side (4) comprises the abrasive part and the back-side (5) is joined to the connection material (3).
Joint revision surgery apparatus
The present application is directed a Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus which includes a blade guide block which has a plurality of blade guide slots, both straight and curved, and a central cavity. The blade guide block central cavity is positioned over the trunnion end of the existing prosthesis to be removed and secured to the prosthesis. The guide blade block is secured to the trunnion of the prosthesis to be extracted using retaining rings housed within the guide block. Straight, curved and compound curved knife blades are guided by the blade guide slots to cut the prosthesis free. The guide blocks, in varying sizes and configurations, straight and curved knifes blades and related accessories may be sold as a complete kit. The Joint Revision Surgery Apparatus facilitates rapid, efficient and complete removal of an existing prosthesis during joint revision surgery, and significantly increases positive medical outcomes for joint revision procedures.
NEEDLE HARVESTING DEVICES, SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A method of removing needles operatively associated with suture through tissue surrounding an access tract, the method comprising advancing an elongate distal member along the access tract, locating an elongate proximal member in contact with tissue surrounding the puncture site, the elongate proximal member comprising a guide disposed within the elongate proximal member, a perimeter of the guide forming a plurality of needle receiving gaps that are circumferentially spaced about a needle deployment actuator with a portion of the guide disposed between adjacent needle receiving gaps extending outwardly towards a wall of the lumen of the elongate proximal member, the needle deployment actuator extending to the elongate distal member and being configured to initiate proximal movement of a needle toward an opening of the elongate proximal member, and actuating the needle deployment actuator to move the needle toward the opening of the elongate proximal member.
