STERILE PACKAGING OF K-WIRE AND CAP
A method is provided for sterile packaging of a Kirschner wire (K-wire) and cap for shipping and storage, such that the K-wire and cap may be removed from the sterile packaging and used during a surgery. The method comprises sterile packaging the K-wire into a first container, sterile packaging the cap into a second container, and then bundling the first and second containers into a third container. In some embodiments, the first container may be comprised of a sterile interior environment within a double tube container, and the second container may be comprised of peel pouch configured to be unsealed during the surgery. In some embodiments, the K-wire and the cap may be placed together onto a mounting card that is then sterile packaged into a peel pouch that may be unsealed during the surgery.
GUIDANCE DEVICE FOR ULTRASONOGRAPHY GUIDED DEVICE PLACEMENT
A guidance device for ultrasonographic guidance of percutaneous placement of an intravascular introducer in a subject adapted for placement against the body of the subject essentially at a desired percutaneous insertion site is disclosed. A directing member is oriented such that the trocar or introducer received in the directing member provides for insertion of the trocar or introducer along a first axis. The guidance device is adapted to receive and releasably hold an ultrasonographic imaging probe such that a first axis of the directing member is positioned in a plane that is essentially perpendicular to and transversely crossing the imaging plane, and the directing member is coupled to the guidance device via an attachment member such that the directing member is configured to be movable only in the plane that is essentially perpendicular to the imaging plane.
Barbed suture dispenser
A packaging for a surgical needle comprises a cartridge. The cartridge comprises a surgical needle and a needle driver configured to engage and move the needle relative to the cartridge. The packaging further comprises a spool comprising a helical channel and a length of suture connected to the needle. At least a portion of the length of suture is wound around the spool. At least a portion of the length of suture is positioned within the helical channel. The suture may include a plurality of barbs.
Cover for tissue penetrating device with integrated magnets and magnetic shielding
A cover for magnetizing a shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device is disclosed including a sleeve member having a hollow body to form a protective closure over the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. The proximal end of the hollow body provides a receiving space for receiving the shaft of the tissue-penetrating medical device. One or more magnet is disposed on the sleeve member. A magnetic shield composed of one or more shielding materials associated with the cover that minimizes any effects to the clinical environment from magnetic fields generated within the cover. Medical devices and methods of magnetizing the shaft of a tissue-penetrating medical device using the cover are also disclosed.
Convertible container
A container for dispensing and disposing supplies is disclosed. The container includes a receptacle having a base and a plurality of walls extended up from the base; one or more compartments formed in the receptacle, wherein the one or more compartments is configured to be fluid-tightly sealed from each other; and one or more insert members, each configured to convert one of the one or more compartments from exclusively dispensing unused supplies to exclusively receiving used supplies.
Pen needle packaging
Pen needle packaging concepts provide sterile packaging which can be made with fewer small parts and which can be opened with one hand, streamlining the process of installing the pen needle on the medication pen. In some instances, the packaging operates as a sharps container to store the pen needle after use.
Rapid sequence medical procedure tray
The subject invention provides a rapid sequence intubation tray that enables fast and accurate medication dosing of patients under emergency conditions. By automating medication dosing, the subject invention reduces delays in medication administration and reduces the risk of medication errors.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INCREASED OPERATING ROOM EFFICIENCY
Systems, devices and methods to improve safety and efficiency in an operating room comprise providing a suture package that holds new suture needles and needle receptacles for storing used needles. The devices can be safely worn for the surgeon to self-dispense new suture needles in the near surgical field and to secure the used needles into a needle trap or a needle retainer located on his extremity, on his operative instruments or on the surgical drapes. The device may provide automated and/or simplified needle counting both during use and after removal from the surgical field. The device may be configured for ergonomic and efficient use so as to minimize the actions and motions of the surgeon to dispense and secure the needle.
PORTABLE PHLEBOTOMY KIT
Described herein are various systems, methods, apparatuses, and kits for phlebotomy. In certain embodiments, the phlebotomy kit or system includes a blood collection tube, a needle assembly, a holder for the blood collection tube, a bandage, a tourniquet, a wipe, and an absorbent pad. The disclosed systems, methods, apparatuses, and kits are useful for collecting a single small volume of blood, and collecting of a small volume of blood at remote non-hospital environments.
DEVICES AND KITS FOR COLLECTION, STORAGE AND ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES AND METHODS OF PRODUCTION AND USE THEREOF
Collection devices, kits and methods related to sample collection and analysis can be used to collect and store samples (e.g., biological samples) from a variety of sources and optionally, for analysis of such samples (e.g., forensics analysis, medical diagnostics, etc.). Methods of production and use thereof are described herein. A device for collecting a sample (e.g., a sample including nucleic acid) includes an outer protective housing and a collection tip operably coupled to a carrier. The collection tip includes a hydrophilic and at least partially soluble material (e.g., hydrophilic and at least partially soluble polycaprolactone (PCL)) and is movable (e.g., retractable) from a first protected position within the outer protective housing to a second collecting position outside the outer protective housing.
