Gear driven coupling between ultrasonic transducer and waveguide in surgical instrument
A surgical instrument is separable into a transducer unit and a lower body portion. The lower body portion includes a waveguide and a casing. The transducer unit includes a transducer and a geared mechanism operable to couple the transducer to the waveguide. In some versions the geared mechanism includes bevel gears coupled to a rack and pinion such that linear motion may be used to rotatably couple a transducer to a waveguide. The rack gear may further include a handle extending out of the transducer unit casing to be actuatable by a user. The rack gear may also be flexible or rigid. In other versions, the bevel gears may be coupled to a threaded shaft that is operable to translate the transducer into the waveguide to form an interference fit. The transducer unit may also include a slide lock mechanism to couple to the casing of the lower body portion.
STERILIZATION TRAY FASTENER AND RELATED METHODS
Sterilization tray fasteners are disclosed herein. The disclosed sterilization tray fasteners may be formed to join sterilization tray bases stacked directly on top of one another together. In some embodiments, sterilization tray bases may be formed to have slots or apertures to accommodate features of the disclosed fasteners. For example, in some embodiments, the disclosed sterilization tray fasteners include an elongate body and two curved arms that can extend into apertures of the sterilization tray bases. In many embodiments, the disclosed fasteners can be attached to and detached from sterilization tray bases without tools.
CARRYING CASE FOR STERILE OBJECTS
A carrying case for sterile objects includes: an outer container, having a lid; an optional tamper-proof seal coupled to said lid; a removable inner tray made of thermoplastic polymer; and a handle coupled to said inner tray. In another embodiment, the outer container is constructed of a polymeric material capable of being sanitized to be transported in its entirety into a sterile environment, providing a user with a greater selection of items since the user could have access to the entire contents of the case. The material and design of the case with the removable tray make it lightweight, enable easy and effective cleaning, and minimize the risk of contamination. In an operating room environment, the case provides faster access to required medical equipment while minimizing the risk to patients. The case would also be valuable in research and forensic laboratory environments where contamination is a major concern.
Method for placement of neuromonitoring needles
A neuromonitoring needle electrode placement gun which includes a housing, at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly, an elongated channel dimensioned and configured for accommodating axial movement of the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly within the channel and for directing movement of the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly and a pusher dimensioned and configured for engaging the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly and for axially displacing the at least a first needle electrode and housing assembly.
Surgical instrument with motorized attachment feature
An apparatus includes an instrument body and transmission assembly. The instrument body includes a motor, a switch, and an energy source (e.g., an ultrasonic transducer). The transmission assembly includes an end effector, a transmission feature (e.g., an acoustic waveguide), and a switch engagement feature. The end effector includes an active feature (e.g., a harmonic blade) in communication with the energy source. The switch engagement feature is operable to mechanically couple the energy source with the transmission feature in response to the switch engagement feature triggering the switch. A yoke of the instrument body is configured to selectively engage a translating member of the transmission assembly. A release switch is operable to selectively disengage the yoke from the translating member.
SURGICAL KIT AND METHODS OF FORMING THE SAME
A surgical kit includes a plurality of trays. Each of the plurality of trays includes plurality of surgical instruments made of a disposable material, with each of the plurality of surgical instruments being preassembled in the plurality of trays. The plurality of surgical instruments are arranged in the plurality of trays in an order in which the plurality of surgical instruments are to be used in a surgical procedure, and the plurality of trays are arranged in the surgical kit in the order in which the plurality of trays are to be used in the surgical procedure.
STERILISATION CONTAINER FOR RECEIVING STERILE MEDICAL GOODS
A sterilization container for receiving cleaned or sterilized medical goods or medical goods to be cleaned or sterilized. The container includes a sterilization container lower part forming a receiving space for the goods and a sterilization container lid that can be detachably mounted on the sterilization container lower part to seal the receiving space. At least one handle element is located on the sterilization container lower part and can be positioned between a carrying position projecting from the sterilization container lid and a locking position that locks the sterilization container lid to the sterilization container lower part. A receiving region is formed in the sterilization container lid for receiving the handle element in the locking position. The receiving region is a trough like handle recess in the form of a depression projecting into the receiving space with respect to the lid plane for receiving the entire handle element.
SELF STACKABLE AND INTERLOCKING PACKAGING
The present invention relates to packaging and in particular, to sterile packaging that is configured to be self-stackable and interlocking. A sterile packaging comprising a packaging compartment provided having one open face through which the compartment may be filled, the open face forms a sterile sealing face that is to be sealed with and receive a sterile barrier. The package features at least one coupling interface along an external surface having male to female couplers configured to facilitate piggy-back coupling between two packaging.
SURGICAL TRAYS, INSTRUMENTS AND METHODS FOR IMPLANTING A HIP REPLACEMENT PROSTHESIS
Surgical trays, tools and methods for use in hip replacement surgery wherein the hip replacement prosthesis is a reverse hip prosthesis. The trial components, specialized tools and methods of the invention enable a surgeon to identify the optimum components of the reverse hip prosthesis for implantation in a patient based on the sizes and angles best adapted to the patent's anatomy.
