In particular, kits are provided for improving preparation and completion time for a medical or surgical procedure in which the kit includes modularized compartments containing sterilized medical or surgical equipment and wherein the medical or surgical equipment is organized and/or ordered within the kit to generally correspond to the sequence of steps of the medical or surgical procedure. The kit is particularly applicable to recanalization procedures for stroke patients as well as revascularization procedures for acute myocardial infarction patients where a kit enables faster preparation and completion of these procedures.

A system for packaging a kit for a radiofrequency ablation procedure protects a radiofrequency ablation kit without compromising its sterile barrier system through the hazards of handling, distribution, and storage. The system includes: an introducer tray configured to hold at least one introducer; a probe tray configured to hold at least one radiofrequency ablation probe; an outer carrier tray, a pouch configured to hold a tubing kit; and a dispenser carton. The introducer tray and the probe tray are held within the outer carrier tray, and the outer carrier tray and the pouch are configured to be held within the dispenser carton. A method of packaging a radiofrequency ablation kit is further described.

The first component medical tray and the second component medical tray are constructed of a sterilizable material and the first component medical tray is decouplable from the second component medical tray after a sterilization process without removing the removable tops from the cavities.

The bottom and intermediate shelfs and the first and second instrumentation retention trays include a plurality of holes there through to allow passage of a sterilization medium during a sterilization process. Standoffs are distributed about a perimeter of the housing. The standoffs separate the intermediate shelf from the top plate and bottom shelf to define first and second tray storage areas there between. The first and second tray storage areas have a shape and dimension to receive the first and second instrumentation retention trays. The standoffs are spaced apart from one another to define tray passages there between. The tray passages re sized and located to allow both of the first and second instrumentation retention trays to be inserted into the housing and opened to an open position relative to the housing in at least three directions.
