Sheath for a medical device
A sheath for an oximetry device includes a top and a body where the top opens to provide an opening where the oximetry device can be placed into the body of the sheath. The top of the sheath can be closed onto the body and the closure of the top can be verified by circuits in the oximetry device. The circuits can monitor the position of a latch that is connected to the top of the sheath. The circuits can determine when the latch is unlatched and the top is open and not sealed closed to the body. And, the circuits can determine when the latch is latched and the top is closed and sealed to the body.
System and method for packaging and preparing a radiofrequency ablation kit
A system for packaging a kit for a radiofrequency ablation procedure protects a radiofrequency ablation kit without compromising its sterile barrier system through the hazards of handling, distribution, and storage. The system includes: an introducer tray configured to hold at least one introducer; a probe tray configured to hold at least one radiofrequency ablation probe; an outer carrier tray, a pouch configured to hold a tubing kit; and a dispenser carton. The introducer tray and the probe tray are held within the outer carrier tray, and the outer carrier tray and the pouch are configured to be held within the dispenser carton. A method of packaging a radiofrequency ablation kit is further described.
SURGICAL INSTRUMENT DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND RELATED METHODS
In one aspect of the present disclosure, a sterilization mat is provided that is configured to receive non-sterile surgical instruments, rolled to a rolled configuration, and sterilized while in the rolled configuration. In accordance with another aspect of the present disclosure, a specialized surgical supply kit includes a package that retains surgical supplies having at least one surgical supply identified as a preferred surgical supply by the hospital or surgeon that is to perform the surgery. The surgical supplies are further arranged in a spatial arrangement based on the surgeon who is to perform the surgery.
Safety-Blade Dispenser and Related Methods
Safety-blade dispensers for safely storing surgical blades prior to surgery and optionally for retrieving used surgical blades after surgery. In either case, the safety-blade dispenser is configured to store one or more surgical blades in an orientation that allows a user to simply and safely attach a surgical tool handle to the surgical blades (and optionally remove the handle from the surgical blades) without requiring the user to physically touch or manipulate the surgical blades by hand. The safety-blade dispensers disclosed herein may be used alone or in conjunction with a system and method of preventing wrong-site surgery.
Injection Device for Subretinal Delivery of Therapeutic Agent
An apparatus includes a pad assembly, an injector assembly, an injector driver, and a fluid source. The pad assembly is sized and configured to be placed on a forehead of a patient. The injector assembly includes a body, a flexible cannula, and a needle. The body is configured to be removably secured to the pad assembly. The cannula is sized to be inserted through an incision in an eye of a patient. The needle is slidably disposed in the cannula. The injector driver is operable to drive the needle longitudinally relative to the flexible cannula. The fluid source assembly is in fluid communication with the needle.
TREATMENT CHAMBER MADE IN LIGHT-WEIGHT CONSTRUCTION
A treatment chamber, preferably a medical treatment chamber for treating articles, preferably medical articles, devices and equipment, more particularly within the scope of sterilizing processes, including a treatment compartment which is surrounded by a lower wall element, a plurality of lateral wall elements and an upper wall element, wherein the treatment compartment is hermetically sealed or sealable for generating a desired internal pressure therein and can be temperature-controlled for generating a desired internal temperature therein, wherein at least one of the wall elements is formed of at least one hollow chamber section is disclosed.
PACKAGING SYSTEM FOR STERILE TRANSFER OF NON-STERILE BATTERY
A medical device packaging system for securing a sterile medical device, having controlled sterile and non-sterile zones, and features for controlling and maintaining said zones that allow medical personnel to perform a simple and efficient transfer of a non-sterile battery into a sterile powered medical device without compromising the device sterility in a sterile field.
PACKAGES AND METHODS FOR MANUFACTURING PACKAGES
A package that includes a housing portion, a handling portion and a separation feature. The separation feature facilitates separation of the handling and housing portions. The separation feature includes a first release layer and a second release layer adjacent to the first release layer provided between the first and second films at an overlapping portion of the housing portion and the handling portion.
System and method for collecting medical waste that monitors the waste for objects that may have been inadvertently discarded
A mobile cart that holds a bag for receiving solid waste generated during a medical or surgical procedure. The cart includes a sensor that monitors whether or not an object containing metal is placed in the bag. A processor monitors the signal output by the sensor. If the sensor signal indicates that an object with a minimal amount of metal is placed in the bag, the processor momentarily asserts an audible alarm and continuously asserts a light alarm. The light alarm remains asserted until turned off. If, while the light alarm is on, the sensor signal indicates a second object with the minimal amount of waste is placed in the container, the processor again momentarily asserts the audible alarm. This provides notice that it may be necessary to investigate the contents of the bag to determine if not one but two or more objects were inadvertently discarded.
ALLERGY TREATMENT KIT
A portable emergency treatment kit for allergic and anaphylactic reactions. The kit comprises a carry case comprising a first panel and a second panel detachably connected together by a fastening member such as a zipper unit. A plurality of compartments on the inner face of the panels housing at least one oropharyngeal airway device, epinephrine injection, histamine H2 receptor antagonist and allergy relief product. The kit provides ready access to vital medications and airway device for emergency treatment of allergy.
