KNOB ASSEMBLY AND CIRCULAR STAPLER
20220054135 · 2022-02-24 ·

A knob assembly and a circular stapler are provided. The knob assembly includes a knob driver, a knob body, a first cooperating component and a second cooperating component. In a blocking state, the first cooperating component is linked with the second cooperating component; while in an unblocking state, the first cooperating component is not fixedly linked with the second cooperating component. One of the first cooperating component and the second cooperating component is provided at the knob driver and the other one is provided at the knob body. When the knob driver is rotated, if a rotating resistance to the knob body reaches a preset resistance value, the knob assembly cannot transmit larger torque, therefore the knob assembly is in a failure mode, the position of the anvil assembly relative to the cartridge remains unchanged, and the tissues will not be excessively compressed.

Retro-cutting instrument with adjustable limit setting

Cutting instruments and related methods are disclosed herein in which the diameter of the retrograde cutting blade can be adjusted to any of a plurality of diameter settings, allowing the same instrument to be used to form holes of different diameters. The limit diameter can be preset such that, during the cutting operation, the user need not be concerned with selecting the appropriate diameter, but rather can simply deploy the cutting blade until the preset limit is reached. Cutting instruments are also disclosed in which the retrograde cutting blade is distinct from the forward drilling tip and protected within a cavity formed in the body of the instrument when not in use, as are instruments in which the user is given visual and/or tactile feedback to confirm desired positioning of the cutting blade.

Rotational thrombectomy wire

An assembly insertable into a lumen of a patient including a motor housing having a motor contained therein, a motor shaft extending from the motor, a first coupler positioned at the motor shaft having a first magnet positioned therein adjacent a distal end, a rotational wire, and a second coupler positioned at a proximal portion of the thrombectomy wire. The second coupler has a second magnet positioned therein adjacent a proximal end. The second coupler is engageable with the first coupler to operably connect the rotational wire to the motor shaft, the first and second magnets providing an attractive force between the first and second couplers to maintain a connection of the first and second couplers so rotation of the first coupler rotates the second coupler.

A surgical system includes a surgical arm a control system, and a motor assembly. The surgical arm is configured to removably couple an instrument to the surgical system. The surgical arm is adjustable to different configurations to change a position of an instrument coupled to the surgical arm. The motor assembly is separate from the control system and includes a motor, a memory to store calibrated parameters of the motor, and electronics coupled to the memory and the motor. The electronics are configured to retrieve the calibrated parameters of the motor from the memory, provide the calibrated parameters of the motor to the control system, receive an instruction for driving the motor from the control system, and send a control signal to the motor based on the instruction. The instruction is based on the calibrated parameters of the motor.

TARGETED TORQUE RELIEF FOR TORQUE-BASED INSTRUMENTS

The present disclosure provides medical instruments and medical instrument components having targeted torsional failure. Such targeted torsional failure helps prevent a surgeon from applying excessive torque that may damage an implant or bone, and also helps avoid the problems and complications that arise when medical instruments break within patients during surgical procedures. To provide such targeted torsional failure, the disclosed medical instrument components include a breakaway section designed so that the component breaks at a desired amount of torque, at a desired location, and in a desired way. The provided medical instrument components may also include a sleeve to increase side-loading strength that may otherwise be reduced due to the breakaway section. The increased side-loading strength may help prevent accidental bending-type failures. The presently disclosed medical instrument component therefore provides targeted torsional failure without sacrificing side-loading strength.

Smart screw-driver for preventing inadvertent screw stripping in bone

A programmable screw driver and method for affixing screws into bone is disclosed. The screw driver includes a torque sensor for measuring torsional input during screw insertion, a rotational motion sensor for measuring the rotation of the screw driver, and a microprocessor. Once a surgeon rotates a screw to be affixed to the bone, the torque sensor measures the torque and sends this information to the microprocessor. Once a predetermined torque level is attained, the microprocessor begins to measure subsequent rotation of the screw driver until a predetermined rotational limit, thereby causing a signal to be sent to alert the surgeon to stop tightening.

A torque wrench as a ratchet instrument for medical technology, including receiving opening which has head region, neck region adjoining head region, rod-shaped actuating lever fastened to neck region for application of torque to the head region, and enclosure forming receiving opening of head region. Furthermore, torque wrench includes spring clip and latching lug formed thereon. The latching lug in rest position of latching lug protrudes into receiving opening and in entraining portion of latching lug is intended to interact with counterpart surface of insertion instrument inserted into enclosure during rotation in tightening direction of actuating lever in entraining position. The latching lug is intended to move into release position during rotation contrary to tightening direction against force of spring clip, in order to provide free running between head region and insertion instrument. The enclosure has break extending over entire cross-section of enclosure and forms spring clip.

A flex clipper provides a feature to help the cutting blade set float more effortlessly by adjusting automatically to the contours of a client's head to prevent getting stuck and causing cuts and irritation to the scalp. The hair clippers preferably also uses a self-contained motor-driven adjustment mechanism to adjust the relative position of the stationary and reciprocating blades of a common type of blade set. Two momentary switches operable by the thumb of the hand holding the clipper afford a barber total automatic adjustment with the clipper itself in an on or off condition.
