Provided is syndiotactic polypropylene-based ethylene-propylene copolymers comprising a) 5 to 15% by weight of ethylene and 85 to 95% by weight of propylene; b) 60 to 90% rr triads; c) Mw (LS) of 10 to 250 kg/mol; and d) no substantial melting peak, wherein the heat of fusion of the peak is 5 J/g or less as determined by differential scanning calorimetry at a scan rate of 10° C./min (ASTM D3418-03).

The present invention relates to a polypropylene based composition comprising: (A) from 40.0 to 85.0 wt % of a heterophasic propylene copolymer having a content of xylene cold soluble (XCS) fraction in the range of 15 wt % to 35 wt %, based on the total weight of the heterophasic propylene copolymer; (B) from 5.0 to 15.0 wt % of a terpolymer of propylene with ethylene and 1-butene comonomer units having a melting temperature Tm as measured in differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) of less than 140° C.; (C) from 5.0 to 25.0 wt % of an ethylene copolymer with alpha-olefin comonomer units having from 4 to 12 carbon atoms with a density of from 850 kg/m.sup.3 to 900 kg/m.sup.3; and (D) from 5.0 to 25.0 wt % of an inorganic filler, wherein the amounts of components (A), (B), (C), and (D) are all based on the total weight amount of the polypropylene based composition, said polypropylene based composition having a melt flow rate (MFR2) as measured at 230° C. and 2.16 kg load in accordance with ISO 1133 in the range of 2.0 g/10 min to 20 g/10 min, an article comprising said polypropylene based composition and the use of said terpolymer (B) for reducing the paint adhesion failure of an article comprising said polypropylene based composition.

MULTI-MODAL POLYMER BLEND, HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPRISING SAME AND USE THEREOF

A multi-modal polymer blend of at least three fractions as determined by TREF is provided. The blend comprises a first propylene-based polymer, a second propylene-based polymer; and a third propylene-based polymer; wherein when subjected to TREF, the polymer blend exhibits: a first fraction that is soluble at −15° C. in xylene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 55 mol % to about 85 mol %; a second fraction that is insoluble at −5 C in xylene or dichlorobenzene and soluble at 40° C. in xylene or dichlorobenzene; and a third fraction that is insoluble at 70° C. in xylene or dichlorobenzene and having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %. Also provided are hot melt adhesive compositions comprising the polymer blend, tackifier, wax; and optionally a nucleating agent, articles containing the adhesive and methods of fabricating the articles.

MULTI-MODAL POLYMER BLEND, HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPRISING SAME AND USE THEREOF

A multi-modal polymer blend of at least three fractions as determined by TREF is provided. The blend comprises a first propylene-based polymer, a second propylene-based polymer; and a third propylene-based polymer; wherein when subjected to TREF, the polymer blend exhibits: a first fraction that is soluble at −15° C. in xylene, the first fraction having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 55 mol % to about 85 mol %; a second fraction that is insoluble at −5 C in xylene or dichlorobenzene and soluble at 40° C. in xylene or dichlorobenzene; and a third fraction that is insoluble at 70° C. in xylene or dichlorobenzene and having an isotactic (mm) triad tacticity of about 85 mol % to about 98 mol %. Also provided are hot melt adhesive compositions comprising the polymer blend, tackifier, wax; and optionally a nucleating agent, articles containing the adhesive and methods of fabricating the articles.

Disclosed herein is a composition comprising a propylene based polymer; a polymeric ethylene ionomer; a vulcanizing agent that is a crosslinker and that is reactive with the polymeric ethylene ionomer; and a compatibilizer that is a crystalline block composite including (1) a crystalline ethylene based polymer, (2) a crystalline alpha-olefin based polymer derived from a C.sub.3-10 α-olefin, and (3) a block copolymer comprising 10 to 90 wt % of a crystalline ethylene block comprising at least 85 wt % of units derived from ethylene and 10 to 90 wt % of a crystalline alpha-olefin block comprising at least 90 wt % of units derived from the C.sub.3-10 α-olefin.
