DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING AND LIMITING THERMAL INJURY TO TISSUE DURING THERMAL PROCEDURES WHERE TISSUE IS SIMULTANEOUSLY MECHANICALLY DEFORMED
The illustrated embodiments include an apparatus to reduce or eliminate full thickness injury in tissue and to deform tissue which includes a probe or mechanism for deforming tissue, and a subsystem for selectively cooling and/or heating tissue while deformation is of the tissue is being performed. The illustrated embodiments of the invention also extend to a method to reduce or eliminate full thickness injury in tissue and to deform tissue including the steps of deforming tissue, and selectively cooling and/or heating tissue while deformation of the tissue is being performed.
Apparatus and method for applying light in ocular and periocular areas
A removable tip for a light energy handpiece comprises a hollow conduit configured to surround a light guide in the handpiece; a support extension having a length longer than a length of the hollow conduit; and a shielding extension coupled to the support extension at an angle less than 180 degrees and located in front of the hollow conduit. The shielding extension is configured to be inserted behind an eyelid and extend to the fornix, the shielding extension comprised of a thermally insulative material.
METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR LASER OPHTHALMIC SURGERY THAT PROVIDE FOR IRIS EXPOSURES BELOW A PREDETERMINED EXPOSURE LIMIT
A laser surgical method for performing a corneal incision while maintaining iris exposure below a predetermined exposure limit includes: determining an initial iris exposure based on an initial treatment scan, determining whether the initial iris exposure is less than the predetermined exposure limit; generating a revised treatment scan comprising one or more treatment scan modifying elements when the initial iris exposure is greater than the predetermined exposure limit, and scanning the focal zone of a pulsed laser beam according to the revised treatment scan, thereby performing the corneal incision, wherein the one or more treatment scan modifying elements causes the iris exposure to be smaller than the predetermined exposure limit.
Image guided spinal decompression with contralateral oblique view
The present invention relates to a flexible surgical system for endoscopic spinal decompression and methods thereof. Various methods of accessing the epidural space with this instrument are described. The system design enables placement of the device through several approaches. It is then advanced under direct visualization or fluoroscopic (X-Ray), for example, into areas of the spine including lumbar (low back), thoracic (mid and upper back) and cervical (neck). The pathologies encroaching upon the spinal space can then be visualized wherein the epidural membrane can optionally be displaced to further aid in visualization. The membrane can be used to protect regions of tissue adjacent the site to tissue removal.
Devices and methods for treating eyelids
An ocular protection device and treatment methods are disclosed. The device has a corneal shield with an attached handle. The handle may be used to move the corneal shield to better protect the eye from various treatment modalities. The handle may also be used to place tension on the eyelid to counteract the forces imposed by a treatment handpiece. A procedure for treating the eye is disclosed where multiple passes with a treatment handpiece cause a gradual increase in the temperature of an eyelid up to a treatment temperature. Once the treatment temperature has been met, occlusions in the Meibomian glands of the eyelid may be expressed. The procedure may be repeated recursively until a desired level of expression has been achieved.
Light therapy platform mobile device applications
Disclosed are therapeutic lamp platform mobile device applications. According to an exemplary embodiment of this disclosure, provided is a phototherapy device comprising a wearable therapeutic lamp platform including a plurality of radiant lamps disposed to communicate radiant energy to a user treatment area; a power source; a controller operatively associated with the therapeutic lamp platform and the power source configured to limit a number of available doses of radiant energy provided to a user, and the controller configured to communicate with an ecommerce platform to obtain an additional number of available doses.

LASER LANCING DEVICE
The laser lancing device in accordance with an exemplary embodiment includes: a main body; a laser resonator located within the main body and configured to generate a laser and output the laser forwards; a beam barrel located in front of the laser resonator and including at least one lens unit fixed therein; a window barrel located in front of the beam barrel and connected to the main body; a cap part connected to the front of the window barrel and brought into contact with an irradiation target area; a fan unit communicating with the cap part and induce flow of air; and a communication pipe of which one end is connected to the fan unit and the other end is connected to the cap part.
LIGHT THERAPY PLATFORM SYSTEM
Phototherapy systems comprising a therapeutic lamp platform for radiant lamps such as LEDs disposed in an assembly comprising a first wall to which the lamps are affixed thereto and a second wall, closer to the patient, spaced from the first wall wherein the lamps are recessed relative thereto. The second wall comprises a reflective surface facing towards a patient and a plurality of light apertures substantially aligned with the LEDs on the first wall for communicating lamp radiation from the lamps to a user. The lamps and associated circuitry are disposed between the first and second wall so that the reflective surface is relatively smooth and seamless towards the patient. The walls have a malleable rigidity for flexible adjustability relative to the user. The device is mounted to the user with a frame comprising an eyeglass frame or goggles including lenses for shielding the user's eyes from lamp radiation.
Shape Memory Surgical Sponge For Retracting The Dura During A Laminectomy Procedure
Methods and apparatus for retracting the dura away from a cutting tool during a laminectomy procedure. The method includes inserting a memory shape surgical sponge (patty) into an initial epidural space between the dura and the tool used to decompress (e.g., drill) the lamina. As the lamina is further decompressed, the patty tends to spring back toward its nominal position, urging the dura away from the decompression and isolating the dura from the drill.
