In turn, a perforated distal side of the cortical layer of the bone may be created that creates a desired weakness in the bone, which may be useful in various operations including when performing a corticotomy or the like.

The method further comprises attaching the shaft to the handle, wherein the shaft interface surface is configured to engage the shaft at the handle interface surface, wherein an attractive magnetic force is configured to pull the handle towards the shaft when the first set of magnetic elements interact with the second magnetic elements, and wherein a repulsive magnetic force is configured to repel the handle from the shaft when the first set of magnetic elements interacts with the third set of magnetic elements.

An example method includes receiving an impedance from at least one electrode in an electrode arrangement that is disposed at a cryoablation needle distal portion. The electrode arrangement is configured to engage the iceball as the iceball is formed over the cryoablation needle distal portion so as to cause a change in the impedance. The example method includes determining one or more physical attributes of the iceball based on a rate of the change in the impedance.

Various embodiments of scribing tools are provided that are configured to mark one or more predetermined shapes around a defect site in tissue. The shape or shapes marked in tissue can be used to cut a tissue scaffold having a shape that matches the shape or shapes marked in tissue. In one embodiment, the scribing tool used to mark a shape in tissue can also be used to cut the tissue scaffold.
