METHOD FOR JACKETING ELONGATE ARTICLES, IN PARTICULAR LINES

The invention relates to a method for jacketing elongate articles, such as lines or cable harnesses in particular, by means of an adhesive tape comprising a tape-shaped substrate, which substrate has, on at least one side, a thermally curable, meltable, preferably pressure-sensitive adhesive layer, the adhesive layer comprising an epoxide-functionalized acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer which has on average more than 1.5 epoxide groups per molecule and comprising the reaction product of phthalic anhydride and diethylene-triamine, the adhesive tape being led in a helix around the elongate article or the elongate article being enveloped by the adhesive tape in the axial direction, the elongate article together with the enveloping adhesive tape being brought into the desired arrangement, in particular into the cable harness plan, the elongate article being held in this arrangement, and the curable adhesive mass being cured by supplying thermal energy, in particular at a temperature of up to 110° C.

ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS

Disclosed herein is an adhesive composition that includes a resin composition and an epoxy-containing compound. The resin composition includes an epoxidized polysulfide and an epoxidized oil. The epoxidized polysulfide is present in the adhesive composition in a weight ratio to the epoxidized oil of 20:1 to 1:1. Also disclosed is the adhesive composition in an at least partially cured state. Also disclosed is a method for treating a substrate comprising applying the adhesive composition to a surface of a substrate; and applying an external energy source to cure the composition. Also disclosed are substrates comprising the adhesive composition in an at least partially cured state.

Filament reinforced tapes useful as underwater pipe wrap

A member for use in undersea applications comprising a plurality of conduits assembled into a bundle; the bundle being wrapped with a pressure-sensitive tape comprising a backing, a layer of corrosion-resistant filaments on one surface of the backing, and pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that coats the filaments and binds them to the backing.

Filament reinforced tapes useful as underwater pipe wrap

A member for use in undersea applications comprising a plurality of conduits assembled into a bundle; the bundle being wrapped with a pressure-sensitive tape comprising a backing, a layer of corrosion-resistant yarns on one surface of the backing, and pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that coats the corrosion-resistant yarns and binds them to the backing.

DOUBLE-SIDED PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPE

The invention relates to a method for peeling a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape including: a pressure-sensitive adhesive layer. The pressure-sensitive adhesive tape has a thickness greater than 150 μm and smaller than 1,500 μm, an elongation at break of 600% to 3,000%, and a stress at break of 2.5 to 80.0 MPa. According to the invention, the conformity and the adhesion with respect to an adherend, particularly, a hard adherend, are excellent, and excellent re-peeling properties are obtained, so that the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape can be stretched and peeled off in a horizontal direction, without necessity for embrittling the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape by heating or by using an organic solvent or the like or without remaining of the pressure-sensitive adhesive on the adherend, in a case of peeling the pressure-sensitive adhesive tape.

AN ACOUSTIC DAMPING MATERIAL AND USE THEREOF

A bitumen-free acoustic damping material includes at least one thermoplastic polymer, at least one hydrocarbon resin, and at least one solid particulate filler. The acoustic damping material is suitable for use in damping of undesired vibrations and noise in mechanical structures and components of manufactured articles. Also to use the acoustic damping material for damping of vibrations and noise in transportation vehicles and white goods, to a vibration and noise damping element including a damping layer composed of the acoustic damping material, to a method for applying a vibration and noise damping element to a noise emitting surface of a substrate, and to a vibration damped system including a substrate and the vibration and noise damping element bonded to a noise emitting surface of the substrate.

Provided herein are butyl rubber based pressure sensitive adhesive compositions comprising low molecular weight polyisobutylene oligomers and a multifunctional crosslinker. These adhesive compositions can exhibit high adhesion and shear resistance without requiring curing at high temperature to provide the compositions with these advantageous performance properties. Also provided are adhesive tapes and methods using the disclosed adhesive compositions.

ADHESIVE AGENT AND ADHESION METHOD

There is provided an adhesive agent exhibiting high adhesive strength to polyolefin. An adhesive agent contains a chloroprene copolymer latex containing a chloroprene copolymer (A) and a metal oxide (B). The chloroprene copolymer (A) is a copolymer of a monomer group containing chloroprene (A-1), α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid (A-2), and 2,3-dichloro-1,3-butadiene (A-3). The chloroprene copolymer (A) has a tetrahydrofuran-soluble component soluble in tetrahydrofuran and the weight average molecular weight of the tetrahydrofuran-soluble component is 80000 or more and 140000 or less. When the amount of the metal oxide (B) based on 100 parts by mass of the chloroprene copolymer (A) is defined as Y part(s) by mass and the weight average molecular weight of the tetrahydrofuran-soluble component is defined as X, the content of the metal oxide (B) satisfies Formula: −1.2×X/100000+1.6<Y<−4.2×X/100000+5.7.
