In some variations, a catheter for forming an anastomosis in a heart may comprise a first catheter comprising an electrode. A second catheter may be slidably disposed within the first catheter. The second catheter may comprise a barb and a dilator comprising a mating surface configured to engage the electrode.

Medical image guidance

A system and method for improved medical device navigation is disclosed. An example system can include a processor configured to determine an emplacement of a 2D medical image in a 3D virtual space, determine an emplacement of a virtual medical device in the 3D space, determine an intersection based on the emplacement of the 2D medical image and the emplacement of the virtual medical device, and/or determine a dynamic point-of-projection location for the virtual medical device based at least in part on the determined intersection. The processor can cause a display to display a rendering of the 2D medical image and a projection of the virtual medical device onto the 2D medical image from a perspective of the dynamic point-of-projection location. The display can be communicatively coupled to an imaging medical device. The viewing area can be parallel to a 2D region associated with the 2D medical image.

All-in-one arterial access and closure system (ACS)

The present invention features an all-in-one system for vascular access and closure. In particular, this invention features systems and methods for forming holes in blood vessels and rapidly closing these vessel holes using an all-in-one system. For example, an arterial access and closure port system is disclosed herein to provide fail-safe percutaneous entry and exit into any artery, particularly useful for high flow and high pressure arteries such as the carotid artery. The present invention is a single system that forms and closes vascular holes and can be used for percutaneous arterial access with interventional radiology, interventional cardiology, neuro-intervention, endovascular surgery, and endovascular neurosurgery.

SURGICAL IMPLANT FOR MARKING SOFT TISSUE

An implantable tissue marker device is provided to be placed in a soft tissue site through a surgical incision. The device can include a bioabsorbable body in the form of a spiral and defining a spheroid shape for the device, the spiral having a longitudinal axis, and turns of the spiral being spaced apart from each other in a direction along the longitudinal axis. A plurality of markers can be disposed on the body, the markers being visualizable by a radiographic imaging device. The turns of the spiral are sufficiently spaced apart to form gaps that allow soft tissue to infiltrate between the turns and to allow flexibility in the device along the longitudinal axis in the manner of a spring.

MARKER DELIVERY DEVICE WITH PUSH ROD HAVING ACTUATION FEATURES

A marker delivery device includes a housing, a flexible push rod, and a wheel. The push rod includes a first transverse dive surface and a deployer tip. The deployer tip is configured to receive a biopsy site marker. The wheel includes a second transverse drive surface. The first transverse drive surface is configured to be driven by the second transverse drive surface to translate the push rod distally.

System and Method for Determining a Safe Access Trajectory to a Surgical Site

A system and method for determining an access trajectory to a target site to safely place a surgical access instrument (e.g., guide wire, dilator, cannula, etc.) through a tissue (e.g., muscle, fat, brain, liver, lung, etc.) without damaging nearby neurovascular structure is described herein. The trajectory determination system includes a nerve stimulation probe and a dilator guide having a plurality of guide channels and registerable to an operating table in a fixed orientation. Motor nerve stimulation (e.g., EMG, MMG) is performed with the stimulation probe positioned in each of said plurality of guide channels to generate a map of nerve locations within intervening anatomical structures (e.g., muscle, bone, etc.) between the dilator guide and the surgical target site. Available access pathways are determined based on the nerve location data and displayed on a display unit.

SYSTEMS, METHODS, AND DEVICES FOR REGISTERING AND TRACKING ORGANS DURING INTERVENTIONAL PROCEDURES
20230090468 · 2023-03-23 ·

Systems, methods, and devices are provided for assisting or performing guided interventional procedures using specialized catheters and inserts. A bend altering device is introduced into a conduit in an organ causing it to take on a tortuous path and to assist in its visualization. A scan is performed of a patient's anatomy to identify targets critical structures and the path of the conduit. A bend altering device containing position indicating elements is placed into the conduit in the same path as before the scan. During a procedure, the pre-procedure scans may be registered to the patient using the location of the position indicating elements in the conduit. This registration may be used in an intervention to guide instruments and templates to obtain diagnostic information or provide therapy to the targets identified in the scans.

SCAN NAVIGATION

A method of guiding performance of an ultrasound imaging procedure, comprising: detecting at least a position of an ultrasound probe; determining a position of an imaging region of the ultrasound probe relative to a target based on the at least detected position of the ultrasound probe; displaying a figure representative of an imaging region together with a reference image associated with the target wherein the appearance of at least part of the figure is dependent on at least the determined position of the imaging region relative to the target; and updating the appearance of at least part of the figure as the ultrasound probe moves relative to the target.
