Multi riser resid catalytic cracking process and apparatus

This invention provides a fluidized catalytic cracking apparatus and process for converting a hydrocarbon feedstock containing higher concentrations of Conradson Carbon Residue (CCR), metal impurities, etc into lighter products by employing two riser reactors in which the feed impurities are removed using an adsorbent in a first riser reactor and cracking a portion of first riser reactor liquid product in a second riser reactor to lighter products using the active catalyst thus eliminating the catalyst deactivation due to metal, impurities and FCC catalyst activity dilution effect to achieve a better conversion and higher catalyst longevity.

Production of upgraded petroleum by supercritical water

A method for upgrading a petroleum feedstock using a supercritical water petroleum upgrading system includes introducing the petroleum feedstock, water and an auxiliary feedstock. The method includes operating the system to combine the petroleum feedstock and the water to form a mixed petroleum feedstock and introducing separately and simultaneously into a lower portion of an upflowing supercritical water reactor. The auxiliary feedstock is introduced such that a portion of a fluid contained within the upflowing reactor located proximate to the bottom does not lack fluid momentum. An embodiment of the method includes operating the supercritical water petroleum upgrading system such that the upflowing reactor product fluid is introduced into an upper portion of a downflowing supercritical water reactor. The supercritical water petroleum upgrading system includes the upflowing supercritical water reactor and optionally a downflowing supercritical water reactor.

A process for the hydroprocessing of heavy oils and/or oil residues, the process comprising the steps of contacting a non-metallised carbonaceous material with an acid to form a non-metallised carbonaceous additive; and contacting the heavy oils and/or oil residues with the non-metallised carbonaceous additive in the presence of a hydrogen-containing gas at a temperature of from 250° C. to 600° C.

Process to remove asphaltene from heavy oil by solvent

Embodiments of the disclosure produce a method and system for deasphalting a hydrocarbon feed. The hydrocarbon feed and a first solvent is combined using a Taylor-Couette mixer to form a mixed stream. The mixed stream and a second solvent are introduced to an extractor to produce a first deasphalted oil stream and a pitch stream. The first deasphalted oil stream is introduced to a solvent recovery unit to recover the first solvent and the second solvent via a recovered solvent stream and to produce a second deasphalted oil stream.

Method for Determining the Stability of a Petroleum Product Containing Asphaltenes

The invention relates to a method for determining a parameter representative of the stability of an asphaltene-containing petroleum product, said petroleum product being an effluent derived from a hydrocarbon feedstock conversion process or being a mixture of hydrocarbons, using proton NMR to determine a threshold value of said parameter representative of the stability, this threshold value constituting a boundary between a stability domain and an instability domain of a petroleum product. According to the invention, the parameter representative of the stability is a T.sub.2mean/T.sub.1mean or T.sub.1mean/T.sub.2mean ratio. The invention also relates to a method for monitoring a conversion process, in particular a deep conversion process, or a mixture of hydrocarbons, using this method of determination.

Crude Oil Transportation

A method of improving the transportation of a crude oil which has been recovered from a crude oil well, the method comprising adding one or more glycerophospholipid(s) to a crude oil before and/or during the transportation of said crude oil.

PROCESSES AND SYSTEMS FOR PRODUCING UPGRADED PRODUCT FROM RESIDUE

Embodiments of the present disclosure are directed to a process for producing upgraded product from residue comprising atmospheric residue or vacuum residue upgrading comprising separating the residue through a Solvent Deasphalting (SDA) unit, wherein the SDA unit includes an asphaltene separator that separates the residue into asphaltene pitch and a stream comprising deasphalted oil (DAO) and resin, and a resin separator that subsequently separates the stream comprising DAO and resin into separate DAO and resin streams, treating the resin stream with supercritical water (SCW) to produce an upgraded resin stream, and hydroprocessing a portion of the upgraded resin stream and the DAO stream to produce the upgraded product.

High napthenic content marine fuel compositions

Marine diesel fuel/fuel blending component compositions and fuel oil/fuel blending component compositions are provided that are derived from crude oils having high naphthenes to aromatics volume and/or weight ratios and a low sulfur content. In addition to having a high naphthenes to aromatics ratio, a low sulfur content, and a low but substantial content of aromatics, such fuels and/or fuel blending components can have a reduced or minimized carbon intensity relative to fuels derived from conventional sources. The unexpected ratio of naphthenes to aromatics contributes to the fuels and/or fuel blending components further having additional unexpected properties, including low density, low kinematic viscosity, and/or high energy density.

CONTINUOUS CATALYTIC DEASPHALTING PROCESS

In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present disclosure, a continuous catalytic deasphalting process includes introducing a feed comprising crude oil and solvent to a first reactor to deasphalt the feed, producing polymerized asphaltene adsorbed to the catalyst and deasphalted oil; introducing solvent to a second reactor to regenerate catalyst in the second reactor while the deasphalting step is performed in the first reactor; introducing a wash solvent to the first reactor after deasphalting to remove the polymerized asphaltene, thereby regenerating the catalyst in the first reactor and producing a mixture comprising solvent and polymerized asphaltene; passing the mixture to a separator downstream of the reactor system to separate the wash solvent from the polymerized asphaltenes; and reintroducing at least a portion of the separated wash solvent to at least one of the first and second reactors.
