Sulfate and sulfonate derivatives of unsaturated fatty alcohols, processes for making them, and methods of using them are disclosed. In one aspect, a monounsaturated fatty alcohol composition is made by reducing a metathesis-derived monounsaturated alkyl ester. The fatty alcohol composition is then converted to a sulfate or sulfonate derivative by one or more of alkoxylation, sulfation, sulfonation, and sulfitation. Of particular interest are the sulfate and ether sulfate derivatives. Microscopy studies indicate that the unsaturated sodium sulfates in particular have a lamellar phase that should enable formulation at high actives levels. Sulfate compositions comprising 40 to 60 wt. % of a monounsaturated fatty primary alcohol sulfate and 40 to 60 wt. % of a secondary hydroxyalkyl primary alcohol sulfate are also disclosed. The derivatives and sulfate compositions are valuable for many end-use applications, including, for example, agricultural dispersants, water-soluble herbicides, anionic emulsifiers for agricultural use, hard surface cleaners, light-duty liquid detergents, personal cleansers, gas well foamers for oilfield applications, laundry detergents, enhanced oil recovery compositions, latex paints, and specialty foams.
ANTI-REDEPOSITION ADDITIVE FOR LAUNDRY DETERGENT
A laundry detergent composition comprising an anti-redeposition agent, a surfactant, and optionally a builder, wherein the anti-redeposition agent is a polymer comprising polymerized units of: (a) from 5 to 40 wt % of at least one nitrogen-containing ethylenically unsaturated monomer having at least one pKa value from 6 to 11.5, and (b) from 60 to 95 wt % of at least one ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer.
DETERGENT GRANULES COATED WITH PRECIPITATED CALCIUM CARBONATE
This disclosure is related to the use of precipitated calcium carbonate as a flow aid in forming free-flowing detergent granules. A solid detergent composition including a plurality of detergent granules is provided. Each of the detergent granule includes: a) a base particle including one or more surfactants; and b) a coating layer over the base particle, while such coating layer includes precipitated calcium carbonate. The solid detergent composition is characterized by a surfactant content ranging from 5% to 80% and a precipitated calcium carbonate content ranging from 0.1% to 10%, by total weight of such solid detergent composition.
HYDROPHILIZATION TREATMENT AGENT COMPOSITION
The present invention is a hydrophilization treatment agent composition containing (A) a branched-type anionic surfactant, (B) a polyvalent metal ion, and water, wherein a molar ratio between (A) and (B), (B)/(A), is 0.01 or more and 10 or less.
SURFACE TREATMENT AGENT
The present invention provides a surface treatment agent which is capable of efficiently removing oily substances from the surface of a metal material, while removing scales and fumes therefrom at the same time.
A surface treatment agent which contains a chelating agent, a nonionic surfactant and an anionic surfactant, and which is configured such that the anionic surfactant is composed of at least one surfactant that is selected from the group consisting of phosphoric acid ester surfactants, carboxylic acid surfactants, sulfonic acid surfactants and sulfuric acid ester surfactants.
Solidifying liquid amine oxide, betaine, and/or sultaine surfactants with a carrier
The invention relates to solidification of liquid amine oxide, betaine, and/or sultaine surfactants with a carrier to form a solidified surfactant composition. In particular, the invention relates to solidification of liquid surfactants utilizing drying device(s), wherein the feed composition contains at least one liquid surfactant and a carrier to form a solidified surfactant composition. The solidified surfactant compositions can be useful in various cleaning compositions.
DETERGENT COMPOSITIONS
The invention provides a detergent composition for the non-oxidative laundering of fabric stains, the composition comprising: (a) from 0.1 to 10% (by weight based on the total weight of the composition) of one or more deferoxamines and/or acid addition salts thereof; and (b) from 3 to 80% (by weight based on the total weight of the composition) of one or more detersive surfactants.
The invention also provides a method for the non-oxidative laundering of fabric stains, comprising diluting a dose of the detergent composition defined above to obtain a wash liquor, and washing the stained fabric with the wash liquor so formed.
Organic sulfonic acid salts of amino acid esters and process for their preparation
The application relates to a process for the synthesis of organic sulfonic acid salts of amino acid esters comprising the steps of (i) reacting at least one lactam with at least 3 carbon atoms in the lactam ring with at least one organic sulfonic acid in an aqueous solution, (ii) esterification of the organic sulfonic amino acid salt of step (i) with at least one alcohol with at least 8 carbon atoms comprising at least one hydroxyl group, (iii) optionally removal of water and/or removal of excess alcohol of step (ii). The application also relates to organic sulfonic acid salts of amino acid esters of the general formula (I). ##STR00001##
