Disclosed herein are a non-invasive alcohol detection, identity management, access control, remote screening, and reporting systems.

SOBRIETY MONITORING SYSTEM

A system and method of monitoring sobriety using a hand-held breath testing device that, on receipt of a user's breath, generates a breath test signal comprising substance content data and user identification data, and wirelessly transmits the breath test signal to a breath test signal receiving station.

Method and Apparatus for Non-Invasive Detection of Pathogens in Wounds
20230200725 · 2023-06-29 ·

According to a present invention embodiment, at least one sensor detects one or more gases emanating from one or more pathogens in a wound that produce an infection. The at least one sensor includes sensing materials that change one or more properties in response to a presence of the one or more gases. At least one processor analyzes information from the at least one sensor to identify the one or more pathogens and determine a presence of the infection in the wound. The one or more pathogens are identified based on patterns of changes of the one or more properties indicating corresponding pathogens. The at least one sensor may be disposed within one of a wearable device, a portable device, and a wound dressing. In addition, a negative pressure source may be utilized to apply negative pressure to the wound to promote healing.

Context-aware self-calibration

A method for context-aware self-calibration includes measuring for a plurality of time segments, at least one feature of at least one biosignal or each of at least one channel. Each biosignal is created in response to a user imagining an intended direction for each time segment. An object is moved along an actual decoded direction determined by an output of a decoder configured to correlate for each time segment the at least one feature to the intended direction. The decoder self-calibrates to minimize for each time segment, an error between the actual decoded direction, and the intended direction inferred subsequent to the respective time segment.

Remote delivery and monitoring of health care

Various embodiments for providing remote delivery and monitoring of health care are provided. In one embodiment, an apparatus for providing unmanned medical care in remote areas to a patient is provided. A container is adapted for transport using a standardized shipping mechanism. The container is adapted to provide remote delivery of health care. In an additional embodiment, a portable apparatus for dermatological monitoring is provided. An imaging device is integrated into a housing. The imaging device is adapted to obtain a digital, high-resolution image of a patient. In still another embodiment, a portable apparatus for orthopedic monitoring of a patient is provided. A housing is adapted for one of positioning adjacent to and positioning within an orthopedic cast. A diagnostic biomedical device integrated into the housing. The diagnostic biomedical device is adapted for obtaining an orthopedic image of a portion of the patient treated with the orthopedic cast.

Method and device for measuring muscle signals

In order to determine the state of a muscle between a normal non-tired state, a tired state and a passive involuntary tension state, a signal from the muscle is recorded at rest by using an electrode arrangement, where an earth body may prevent the electrodes from picking up signals beyond the extent of the earth body. The frequency content of the signal is determined by spectral analysis, e.g. by computing a moment of the spectrum. A normal frequency content indicates a non-tired muscle state, whereas a low and a high frequency content indicate a tired and a passive involuntary tension muscle state. A mapping is used to improve accuracy of state determination, e.g. with a reference database.

GENERATING AN INDICATOR OF CHRONIC OBSTRUCTIVE PULMONARY DISEASE

Provided are concepts for generating an indicator of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in a subject. In particular, data from a plurality of sensors, including a pressure sensor, an airflow sensor, and a CO2 concentration sensor is captured from the breath of the subject received by a mouthpiece. The sensor data is then utilised by a processing unit to generate an indicator of COPD in the subject. By utilising airway pressure, airway flow rate and expiratory CO2 concentration data, an accurate indicator of the presence and/or stage of COPD may be obtained.
