A portable vein viewer apparatus may be battery powered and hand-held to reveal patient vasculature information to aid in venipuncture processes. The apparatus comprises a first laser diode emitting infrared light, and a second laser diode emitting only visible wavelengths, wherein vasculature absorbs a portion of the infrared light causing reflection of a contrasted infrared image. A pair of silicon PIN photodiodes, responsive to the contrasted infrared image, causes transmission of a corresponding signal. The signal is processed through circuitry to amplify, sum, and filter the outputted signals, and with the use of an image processing algorithm, the contrasted image is projected onto the patient's skin surface using the second laser diode. Revealed information may comprise vein location, depth, diameter, and degree of certainty of vein locations. Projection of vein images may be a positive or a negative image. Venipuncture needles may be coated to provide visibility in projected images.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR EXPEDITING THE RESCUE OF VICTIMS EXPERIENCING SUDDEN CARDIAC ARREST (SCA) WHEN USED IN CONJUNCTION WITH AN AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR (AED)
20170294107 · 2017-10-12 ·

A method and system for expediting the rescue of victims experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) when used in conjunction with an automated external defibrillator (AED). The system involves an apparatus that calls for help (i.e. 911), detects SCA and cardiac arrhythmias, locates an AED, guides the rescuer through CPR and connection of the AED. A second apparatus is in the enclosure that contains the AED, sends location information to the other apparatus, triggers audible and visual indicators, and provides information on the victim's location.

A first acquisition unit acquires the current position of a carriage unit as information regarding the travel environment of the carriage unit. A second acquisition unit acquires a first upper limit value of the travel speed as appropriate travel conditions of the carriage unit corresponding to the current position acquired by the first acquisition unit. A third acquisition unit acquires a first measurement value of the travel speed as information regarding the travel state of the carriage unit. A travel state correction controller performs travel state correction control to make a correction to a travel state satisfying the appropriate travel conditions in a case where the travel state acquired by the third acquisition unit deviates from the appropriate travel conditions acquired by the second acquisition unit. That is, the travel state correction controller reduces the travel speed of the carriage unit in a case where the first measurement value exceeds the first upper limit value.

SENSOR SYSTEM

In order to appropriately set a condition for measurement of a sensor for measuring an object to be measured in accordance with a change of an external index that can affect the object to be measured, a sensor system includes first and second sensors, a determination unit for outputting a detection signal when a measurement result of the first sensor satisfies a predetermined condition, a measurement condition storage unit for storing a condition for measurement of the second sensor, and a control unit for performing measurement by the second sensor separately from measurement in accordance with the condition for measurement, when having received the detection signal, and for updating the condition for measurement of the second sensor stored in the measurement condition storage unit based on a result of the performed measurement.
