Cleaning compositions which can be used to clean surfaces and treat materials.

The invention relates to an aqueous cleaning and/or sanitising composition comprising (a) at least one biocidal component (b) a polymeric delayed release additive, and (c) at least one surfactant, wherein said composition dries onto a surface being cleaned to form a dry residue and wherein properties of said dry residue are tailored by manipulation of brittleness of the polymeric delayed release additive through identity and/or quantity of the biocidal component and/or surfactant selected. The composition is intended for the cleaning and/or sanitisation of carpet, upholstery or other textiles. The invention also relates to a method of controlling the friability of the dried residue of the composition. The invention also relates to a method of cleaning and/or sanitising a textile article by applying the composition of the invention to said article, and a process of preparing said cleaning and/or sanitising composition.

A liquid laundry composition comprising: (i) from 1 to 60 wt % of one or more surfactants selected from non-soap anionic surfactants, nonionic surfactants, and mixtures thereof; and (ii) from 0.05 to 10 wt % of an amphoterically-modified oligopropyleneimine ethoxylate having a following formula (I) wherein E is an ethoxy side chain corresponding to a formula (RO).sub.nR (I) in which R units are ethylene; n has an average value from 5 to 50, preferably from 10 to 40; R units are each independently selected from hydrogen and SO.sub.3, wherein at least 30% of R units, preferably at least 50%, are SO.sub.3; Q units are each independently selected from C1-C4 alkyl, H and a free electron pair, wherein at least 50% of Q units, preferably at least 80% Y, more preferably at least 90% are C.sub.1-C.sub.4 alkyl; and x ranges from 1 to 3. ##STR00001##

A water-soluble receptacle for a detergent, cleaning agent or pretreatment agent, the receptacle being coated with detergent polymeric active substance. Also disclosed are a portioned detergent, cleaning agent or pretreatment agent in a water-soluble receptacle of the type as well as a method for making a corresponding water-soluble receptacle.

Oligo(-amino ester)s, obtainable by aza-Michael addition of S-substituted primary aminothiols to oligoesters of monoethylenically unsaturated monocarboxylic acids and bivalent, trivalent or tetravalent alcohols, are included in surfactant-containing aqueous detergent solutions in order to prevent the transfer of textile dyes from colored textiles to uncolored textiles or textiles of other colors when washing textiles together in the detergent solutions.

A laundry detergent formulation is provided that is formed as an aqueous blend of surfactants, enzymes, builders, and soil release polymers to inhibit soil re-deposition back onto other clothing or elements of the washing machine. The detergent formulation also contains additives with properties that impart a treatment to fabrics that inhibits future soil deposition onto the clothing with continued use.
