Multiple light paths architecture and obscuration methods for signal and perfusion index optimization
A photoplethysmographic (PPG) device is disclosed. The PPG device can include one or more light emitters and one or more light sensors to generate the multiple light paths for measuring a PPG signal and perfusion indices of a user. The multiple light paths between each pair of light emitters and light detectors can include different separation distances to generate both an accurate PPG signal and a perfusion index value to accommodate a variety of users and usage conditions. In some examples, the multiple light paths can include the same separation distances for noise cancellation due to artifacts resulting from, for example, tilt and/or pull of the device, a user's hair, a user's skin pigmentation, and/or motion. The PPG device can further include one or more lenses and/or reflectors to increase the signal strength and/or and to obscure the optical components and associated wiring from being visible to a user's eye.
Ultrasound imaging system with automatic image saving
Ultrasound imaging systems for automatically identifying and saving ultrasound images relevant to a needle injection procedure, and associated systems and methods, are described herein. For example, an ultrasound imaging system includes a transducer for transmitting/receiving ultrasound signals during a needle injection procedure, and receive circuitry configured to convert the received ultrasound signals into ultrasound image data. The image data can be stored in a buffer memory. A processor can analyze the image data stored in the buffer memory to identify image data that depicts a specified injection event of the needle injection procedure, and the identified image data can be stored in a memory for archival purposes.
HEADSET FOR DIAGNOSIS OF CONCUSSION
A system and method for detecting brain concussion includes detecting and measuring of acceleration at one or more points on a subject's head. Sensors, which can be accelerometers placed against the head, detect and measure natural motions of the patient's head due to blood flow in the brain and resultant movement of tissue in the brain. An observation is then made, as compared with data corresponding to non-concussion, of a change in frequency response pattern exhibited when accelerations are plotted as a function of time or frequency, to identify probable concussion. Preferably the observation and comparison are made by a computer using an algorithm.
Blood glucose test strip and associated measuring method
A blood glucose test strip includes a base substrate, a calibration site, a test site and a non-volatile memory. The calibration site is disposed on the base substrate. A chemical reagent is applied on the calibration site. The test site is disposed on the base substrate. A chemical reagent is applied on the test site. The non-volatile memory is disposed on the base substrate. A calibration parameter is stored in the non-volatile memory. During a calibrating procedure, the calibration solution is dropped on the calibration site, a calibration parameter is calculated according to a first reaction result of the calibration solution and the chemical reagent, and the calibration parameter is stored in the non-volatile memory.
Nerve activity monitoring
There is provided a nerve activity monitoring method that includes receiving an input signal indicative of activity in a nerve of a subject; receiving physiological data indicative of physiological activity in the subject; establishing a relationship between the physiological data and the input signal; identifying a plurality of periodic portions in the input signal based on the relationship between the physiological data and the input signal; and outputting the periodic portions identified.
Determining tissue oxygen saturation with quality reporting
An oximeter probe determines an oxygen saturation for the tissue and determines a quality value for the oxygen saturation and associated measurements of the tissue. The quality value is calculated from reflectance data received at the detectors of the oximeter probe. The oximeter probe then displays a value for the oxygen saturation with the error value to indicate a quality level for the oxygen saturation and associated values used to calculate oxygen saturation.
Device and method for capturing, analyzing, and sending still and video images of the fundus during examination using an ophthalmoscope
The present invention is directed to a medical imaging binocular indirect ophthalmoscope with onboard sensor array and computational processing unit, enabling simultaneous or time-delayed viewing and collaborative review of photographs or videos from an eye examination. The invention also claims a method for photographing and integrating information associated with the images, videos, or other data generated from the eye examination.
VIBRATING PILLOW STRIP AND OPERATING METHODS
Introduced are methods and systems for: gathering human biological signals, such as heart rate, respiration rate, or temperature; analyzing the gathered human biological signals; and controlling a vibrating pillow strip based on the analysis.
PATIENT-WORN WIRELESS PHYSIOLOGICAL SENSOR
A wireless, patient-worn, physiological sensor configured to, among other things, help manage a patient that is at risk of forming one or more pressure ulcers is disclosed. According to an embodiment, the sensor includes a base having a top surface and a bottom surface. The sensor also includes a substrate layer including conductive tracks and connection pads, a top side, and a bottom side, where the bottom side of the substrate layer is disposed above the top side of the base. Mounted on the substrate layer are a processor, a data storage device, a wireless transceiver, an accelerometer, and a battery. In use, the sensor senses a patient's motion and wirelessly transmits information indicative of the sensed motion to, for example, a patient monitor. The patient monitor receives, stores, and processes the transmitted information.
Determining a recovery indicator using heart rate data
Embodiments provide physiological measurement systems, devices and methods for continuous health and fitness monitoring. A wearable strap may detect reflected light from a user's skin, where data corresponding to the reflected light is used to automatically and continually determine a heart rate of the user. The wearable strap may monitor heart rate data including heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep quality. The systems may include a processing module that generates an indicator of physical recovery based on the heart rate data. The recovery indicator may be used to determine strain related to an exercise routine, qualitative information on the user's health, whether to alter a user's exercise plan, and so forth.
