MOUTH PIECE FOR COOLING OF ORAL TISSUE OF A PATIENT DURING CHEMOTHERAPY TREATMENT
20180140407 · 2018-05-24 ·

The invention is directed to a mouth piece for cooling of oral tissue of a patient during chemotherapy treatment. The mouth piece includes a cooling medium contained within the top element and the bottom element and able to retain a cooling environment within the mouth sufficient to reduce capillary blood flow to the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, an external chamber extends from the front of the mouth piece to house a cooling medium. A bladder is positioned inside the external chamber for storing a solution having a freezing temperature above the freezing point temperature of the cooling medium to assist in cooling the cooling medium.

A mouth mirror apparatus is adapted to be connected to a suction device and includes a mounting frame, an elongated handle, and a mirror member. The mirror member is rotatably mounted on a major wall of the mounting frame and can be driven to rotate when the suction device is actuated. When the mirror member rotates, a centrifugal force is generated to fling off water drops and/or debris on a reflecting surface of the mirror member.

SURGICAL BONE-DRILLING DEVICE, HANDPIECE FOR SUCH A SURGICAL BONE-DRILLING DEVICE, AND METHOD FOR COOLING SUCH A SURGICAL BONE-DRILLING DEVICE
20170095261 · 2017-04-06 ·

The invention relates to a surgical bone-drilling device (1) comprising a drill (3) connected to a drive (2), a container (4) for a coolant (5), at least one pump (6) for delivering the coolant (5), a first conduit (7) for delivering the coolant (5) from the container (4) into the interior of the drill (3), and a second conduit (8) for delivering the coolant (5) from the container (4) to the outside of the drill (3), and also a handpiece (19), a drill guide (20), and a cooling method for such a bone-drilling device (1). To improve the cooling action, a measuring device (9) is provided for detecting the drilling depth (d) of the drill (3), which measuring device (9) is connected to a control device (10) for controlling transport of the coolant (5), such that the quality of the coolant (5) in the first conduit (7) and in the second conduit (8) can be controlled as a function of the drilling depth (d) of the drill (3).

Laser system and method for operating the laser system

A dental irrigation system is provided with a laser source for generating a laser beam and an optical delivery system for the laser beam. The laser beam wavelength ranges from 0.4 m to 11.0 m. The laser system operates in pulsed operation with pulse sets of 2 to 20 individual pulses of temporally limited pulse length. The pulse sets follow one another with temporal separation. The individual pulses follow one another with pulse repetition rate. The laser system generates at least one vapor bubble within the liquid irradiated with the laser beam. A single pulse causes the vapor bubble to oscillate between a maximal and a minimal volume with a bubble oscillation frequency. The pulse repetition rate within one pulse set is adjusted relative to the bubble oscillation frequency such that synchronization between delivery of the pulses and bubble oscillation is achieved.

Asymmetrical dental tool with cooling channels

A device for forming a cavity in a bone includes a body defining a longitudinal axis, a flange defined on the body having two surfaces that meet an edge that is oriented oblique to the longitudinal axis, serrations defined on an outer surface of the body for forming the cavity, an internal fluid passageway defined within the body for directing fluid to the serrations, and a connector extending from the flange that is configured to be connected to an oscillating dental instrument.

Quick stop drilling tool for use with a medical or dental treatment device

A quick stop drilling tool for use with a medical or dental treatment device includes a drilling tool having a body extending between a connection end and a working end and having a longitudinal extension along a longitudinal axis of the drilling tool. The drilling tool has a hollow outer shell in which a probe is held that can be moved along the longitudinal axis so that a part of the probe can be moved out of the shell through an opening. The probe is designed as an elongated pin, and its first end facing the connection end is held in the interior of the hollow outer shell. An electromagnetic sensor for detecting relative movement between the shell and the probe is arranged along the longitudinal extension of the body. The drilling tool has a channel for a treatment fluid extending along the longitudinal axis.
