Fabrication and installation of a dental implant

A dental implant for supporting periodontal tissue and the supporting bone is provided. The dental implant includes an implant member with inner canal for insertion into a periodontal bone socket, and an anchoring assembly. The anchoring assembly includes a first fastening element and radially equidistant cylindrical members. The first fastening element engages the implant member within the hollow axial cavity. The root section includes through-holes for radially and forcibly sliding the cylindrical members through them. When the first fastening element apically advances within the hollow axial cavity, the cylindrical members generate an anchoring force to anchor the dental implant.

Asymmetric zygomatic dental implant with partial micro thread/groove

A zygomatic dental implant includes a generally cylindrical body, an interior threaded bore, and an asymmetrical external feature. The generally cylindrical body has a coronal portion and an apical portion. The generally cylindrical body has a main-central axis. The interior threaded bore is formed in the coronal portion of the generally cylindrical body for receiving a screw configured to removably hold an abutment in engagement with the zygomatic dental implant. The interior threaded bore has a bore-central axis. The asymmetrical external feature is on at least a portion of a first side of the generally cylindrical body such that the asymmetrical external feature is configured to directly engage alveolar bone of the patient. The asymmetrical external feature includes a plurality of circumferentially extending grooves.

Dental implants may be designed using a three-dimensional scan of an extracted tooth root and/or a corresponding socket site. The dental implant may include three portions: a root portion designed to sit below the patient's gum line, a connector portion positioned above the root portion and designed to sit above the gum line, and an abutment portion positioned above the connector portion upon which a temporary or permanent crown may be placed. The root portion may include three sections that correspond to three areas of a three-dimensional scan of an extracted tooth root. The first and third sections of the implant may have a size and shape that corresponds to a first and third portions of the three-dimensional scan, respectively. A circumference of the second section of the implant may be smaller than a corresponding circumference of the second section of the three-dimensional scan of the tooth root.

An implant is provided and has an outer surface and multiple cavities. Multiple openings are formed on the outer surface and the cavities communicate with the openings. The maximum latitudinal section area of each cavity is larger than the area of the opening. The latitudinal section of the cavity is parallel with the outer surface of the implant. Therefore, the openings formed on the implant communicate with the cavities, such that the medicine applied on the implant can flow into the cavities. Further, because the maximum latitudinal section of each cavity is larger than the corresponding opening, after flowing into the cavities, the medicine would not easily flow out via the openings.

Embodiments of the present invention provide an osseointegrative implant and related tools, components and fabrication techniques for surgical bone fixation and dental restoration purposes. In one embodiment an all-ceramic single-stage threaded or press-fit implant is provided having finely detailed surface features formed by ceramic injection molding and/or spark plasma sintering of a powder compact or green body comprising finely powdered zirconia. In another embodiment a two-stage threaded implant is provided having an exterior shell or body formed substantially entirely of ceramic and/or CNT-reinforced ceramic composite material. The implant may include one or more frictionally anisotropic bone-engaging surfaces. In another embodiment a densely sintered ceramic implant is provided wherein, prior to sintering, the porous debound green body is exposed to ions and/or particles of silver, gold, titanium, zirconia, YSZ, α-tricalcium phosphate, hydroxyapatite, carbon, carbon nanotubes, and/or other particles which remain lodged in the implant surface after sintering. Optionally, at least the supragingival portions of an all-ceramic implant are configured to have high translucence in the visible light range. Optionally, at least the bone-engaging portions of an all-ceramic implant are coated with a fused layer of titanium oxide.

A dental prosthesis system includes a dental implant having a dental implant fixture and an internal locking collar extending upwardly from the dental implant fixture. The internal locking collar defines a central bore extending downwardly into the dental implant fixture. An abutment for cement has a base surface for placement against the dental implant, which defines a central hole aligned with the central bore. A securing mechanism secures the abutment for cement to the dental implant. The securing mechanism including an expansion locking system disposed through the central hole and within the bore. A portion of the expansion locking system is expandable outwardly so as to lock the abutment for cement to the dental implant fixture.

A dental implant with an implant extension which are formed along a longitudinal axis: the dental implant has an apical end, a coronal end and a section for receiving; securing an abutment; the implant extension is formed in one piece with the implant; extends away from an end face of the apical end along the longitudinal axis, the implant extension having a first section along the longitudinal axis with an annular constriction which is directly connected to the end face of the apical end of the implant; the implant breaks off from the implant extension at the constriction, along the longitudinal axis following the first section, wherein the second section, splined shaft section being further away from the implant than the first section, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis, an outer annular groove being designed to hold the implant extension by clamping the groove in the direction of the longitudinal axis.

Dental implant

Dental implant embodiments comprising one or more non-annular cutaways from a portion of the crown are described. In some embodiments, cutaways, which are implantable beneath the bone line, are orientable during implantation by reference to a dental implant positioning tool to which the dental implant is mated in a known orientation. Mating, in some embodiments, is secured by a detent system which reversibly interlocks the positioning tool and the implant. In some embodiments, a surface of a cutaway is provided with protrusions which stimulate bone regrowth into the volume which the remainder of the cutaway provides.

Dental implant system and method

An implant fixture is disclosed. The implant fixture contains an elongated shaft section, a head section, wherein the head section comprises at least one concave area for bone growth therein, and a protrusion extending from the head section.
