Dental curing light having unibody design that acts as a heat sink
A dental curing light includes a device body that efficiently conducts heat away from the light emitting diode portion of the curing light. The device body includes a proximal gripping end and a distal head end. The device body is formed from a thermally conductive body material. Excellent heat conduction away from the LED dies is achieved using a thermally conductive layer disposed over the device body. The thermally conductive layer serves as a conduit to quickly conduct heat away from the LED dies for dissipation within the material of the device body. In this manner, the material of the device body serves as a highly efficient heat dissipater. The surface area coupling the thermally conductive layer to the device body is sufficiently large that a majority (e g, substantially all) of heat being conducted by the thermally conductive layer is transferred to the device body during operation of the device.
DENTAL LIGHT POLYMERIZATION DEVICE
A dental light polymerization device (1) having a housing (2), a light source for emitting blue light, a piezoelectric transmitter (7) and at least a piezoelectric first receiver (8). The transmitter is acoustically coupled with the housing for transmitting an acoustic wave into the housing and the first receiver is acoustically coupled to the housing for picking up the acoustic wave from the housing. The transmitter and the first receiver are arranged spaced from each other with a portion of the housing between the transmitter and the first receiver forming a first touch surface.
A DENTAL LIGHT POLYMERIZATION DEVICE
A dental light polymerization device (1) that has an intra-oral tip portion (5) forming a polymerization light output (4) and an image input (2). The dental light polymerization device has a polymerization light source (3) for emitting polymerization light toward the polymerization light output and a camera for receiving images from the image input. The tip portion has a circumferential rim that forms a circumferential inner side face or a pair of projections that form opposite inner side faces. The polymerization light output is at least partially formed by the inner side face(s).

By using techniques to diverge an emitted beam, the same base device may be utilized as either a cutting laser or a curing light. The use of multiple frequency laser modules (312) and a selection of emitter heads (304) allow for systems (300) which may be used for a wide variety of medical and dental procedures. Each system (300) has a plurality of emitter heads (304) to select from either a curing light, a cutting laser, or any other therapeutic energy emission all while utilizing the same laser module (312). The present invention relates to a device and method for processing an image for generating a design image based on a reference marker. A method for processing an image for generating a design image based on a reference marker includes receiving, from at least one external device, a computerized tomography (CT) scan image and a plurality of oral scan images related to a person to be treated who has a plurality of reference markers attached to an inside of an oral cavity, generating a registered image by registering the images on the basis of locations of the plurality of reference markers detected from the images, determining, on the basis of the registered image, a teeth profile related to the inside of the oral cavity of the person to be treated, and generating a design image related to the inside of the oral cavity on the basis of the teeth profile.
System and devices for measuring light sources and methods of use thereof
The invention provides a system and related equipment for the precise measurement of the output characteristic of a light source, e.g., a dental light curing unit (LCU) or light for photodynamic therapy, using a light collector, a light detector, and a computer programmed to deliver the value of the output characteristic of the light source to the user. The systems allow for the determination of a proper exposure time or the selection of a light source as needed for a specific application.
Patient support apparatuses with multi-sensor fusion
A patient support apparatus includes a plurality of primary sensors adapted to measure different parameters used in the control of the patient support apparatus. One or more suites of secondary sensors are added to the patient support apparatus to provide data about the primary sensors. The secondary sensors may be used to detect errors in the primary sensors, to modify outputs from the primary sensors, and/or to provide usage and/or diagnostic data about the use of the patient support apparatus. The suite(s) of secondary sensors may measure parameters that affect the outputs of one or more of the primary sensors. In some embodiments, the suite(s) of secondary sensors include one or more dormant sensors that are not used on the patient support apparatus until a code modification is received from one or more external sources instructing the control system of the patient support apparatus to begin using the dormant sensor(s).
