Oral care device
An oral care device for placement in the oral cavity. The oral care device may include a support component, a piezoelectric component, and/or a therapeutic element. The support component is configured for placement between one or more maxillary teeth and one or more mandibular teeth. The piezoelectric element is configured to generate an electrical current from relative movement of the maxillary teeth and the mandibular teeth. The therapeutic element is configured to release a therapeutic composition into the oral cavity at least in part in response to receiving the electrical signal. The device may include the piezoelectric component, the therapeutic element, or both.
ORAL CAVITY MEDICAMENT DELIVERY DEVICE
A device for oral cavity medicament delivery and/or subject surveillance comprising at least one insertion member and at least delivery member, wherein the delivery member may be impregnated with a medicament agent, may comprise a medicament housing, or may comprise a sensor member for monitoring and/or diagnostic purposes, and a method for using same are disclosed. The device is utilized within a subjects oral cavity to retain medicament agent delivery and/or subject monitoring sensor at a location in the mouth. Upon contact with mucogingival tissue, the delivery member provides immediate and/or persistent medicament agent delivery that may dissipate locally within the oral cavity and/or be absorbed systemically by the subject.
DELIVERY OF RADIATION FOR DENTAL HARD TISSUE TREATMENT
Embodiments relate to a systems and methods for preventative irradiative dental treatment. In accordance with one embodiment, a system and method include using a radiation source to generate a radiation; using an optic disposed to accept the radiation to internally reflect he radiation at a first end; using at least one side of the optic to contact a dental hard tissue; using the optic to couple some of the radiation into the dental hard tissue; and, using a controller to control a parameter of the radiation to heat a surface of the dental hard tissue.
Administration of oral care agents
Disclosed is a method, and a system, for accomplishing the in situ formation of a gel in an interdental space. This is useful for the interdental application of one or more dental care agents, such as antimicrobial agents or other anti-plaque agents. The invention makes use of a two component system comprising a gelable liquid and a liquid gelling agent capable of bringing about gelation of the liquid. The system of the invention is arranged such that first the gelable, typically viscous, liquid can be applied, and then the liquid gelling agent is forced, e.g. jetted, into the applied gelable liquid. The system is designed such as to prevent the gelling agent and the gelable liquid to come into contact with each other before both have been applied. The system is configured to allow the gelable liquid to be applied prior to the gelling agent.
Oral care particles and system for the administration thereof
Disclosed is a system and method for the delivery, into interdental spaces, of oral care active agents contained in particles. The particles are made of one or more superabsorbent polymers (SAP), and are of size generally small enough to be easily applied into an interdental space. To this end, the particles typically have a length of below 1.5 mm. By virtue of the SAP's ability of absorbing several times its own weight in water, the particles will swell once in contact with saliva. As a result, the volume of the particles as applied in between teeth increases by at least eight times, thereby effectively making the particles larger than the average interdental gap size. The particles, once swollen, are thus held more firmly between the walls of the interdental space, thus preventing them from being easily washed away.
METHOD AND DEVICE FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF TOPICAL TREATMENTS FOR ORAL MUCOSITIS AND OTHER ORAL CONDITIONS
A method of enhancing absorption of a therapeutic agent sublingually in a person. The method includes administering a therapeutically effective amount of the therapeutic agent sublingually in a person and then inserting for a predetermined treatment period a device in an oral cavity of the person, wherein the device comprising an oral retention portion that is configured to be retained in the oral cavity from the predetermined treatment period and further configured to enhance absorption of the therapeutic agent sublingually.
ABSORBENT INSERTS FOR TOOTH CAVITIES
An absorbent insert of compressed matrix of absorbent material, including a filler dispersed therein to improve stiffness/rigidity of the insert and controls the absorbency of the compressed absorbent material. The insert is pre-shaped and sized for inserting into a tooth cavity, such as a pulp chamber or a root canal space. The compressed insert expands or swells upon absorbing fluid within the tooth cavity, so as to more completely dry the tooth cavity. The absorbent insert also serves as a substrate of an applicator for medical agent to be applied to a tooth cavity. The absorbent insert is provided (e.g., coated or impregnated) with a medical agent, which medical agent is released into the tooth cavity as the absorbent material absorbs fluid in the tooth cavity.
Method and device for the enhancement of topical treatments for oral mucositis and other oral conditions
A method and device for the prevention and treatment of oral mucositis using a combination of an anti-mucositis agent and the device that is held in place for prolonged periods of time within the mouth. Portions of the device overlie and are brought into direct contact with the portions of the oral mucosa that are affected by oral mucositis. The method provides prolonged contact time of the anti-mucositis agents to the areas of the mucosa that are affected by oral mucositis. The combination may be used to treat oral mucositis or, prophylactically, to prevent oral mucositis that may occur in patients that receive chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy.
MEDICAL DEVICE, APPARATUS, AND SURGICAL METHOD
A medical that is implantable into a human or animal body or being an augmentation device for strengthening human or animal hard tissue for subsequent implantation of a separate implant. The device includes a sheath element suitable of being brought into contact, during a surgical operation, with live hard tissue and/or with hard tissue replacement material. The sheath element has a, for example, generally elongate shape and a longitudinal bore defining a longitudinal opening reaching from a proximal end of the sheath element into a distal direction, and a plurality of holes in a wall of the opening. Further, the device includes a liquefiable element that is insertable or inserted in the longitudinal opening and at least partly liquefiable by the impact of energy impinging from the proximal side.
DENTAL STENT
A dental stent for tooth restoration, includes an acrylic outer shell and a set of metal matrix separator strips partially embedded into an inner silicon bed. A method of manufacturing a dental stent includes 3D printing of a model wherein tooth forms of teeth to be restored are individually removable from a remainder of the model. A method of tooth restoration uses a dental stent, and a kit of parts including a dental stent and a composite resin, and optionally a heater, a light cure unit, and a finishing tool kit.
