METHOD FOR PRODUCING SYNGAS, AS WELL AS SYNGAS COOLING ASSEMBLY AND USE
A method of producing synthesis gas in a dual pressure level ammonia plant having a first synthesis section operated in once through fashion at a first relatively lower high pressure and having a second synthesis section operated in recirculating fashion at a second relatively higher high pressure. In the first synthesis section downstream of an OT reactor of the first synthesis section the synthesis gas is cooled using cooling medium at a pressure below the first high pressure, wherein the cooling medium is provided at a pressure below the first high pressure level by means of a medium pressure steam generator or wherein the cooling is effected by means of the medium pressure steam generator. The disclosure further relates to a synthesis gas cooling assembly in such a dual pressure level ammonia plant and at least one plant component for providing or for utilizing the cooling medium.
AMMONIA PLANT HAVING A START-UP FURNACE AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING AMMONIA
An ammonia plant having a first and second reactor and a start-up oven having at least one first heat exchanger. The first reactor operates under a higher internal pressure than the second reactor. The start-up oven is connected via a piping system for at least one synthesis gas to the first and second reactor. Ammonia is produced by heating synthesis gas in the start-up oven and transferring the heated synthesis gas to the first reactor for initiating the chemical reaction. Synthesis gas is heated with the same start-up oven and is transferred to the second reactor for initiating the chemical reaction, wherein high-pressure synthesis of ammonia occurs in the first reactor and low-pressure synthesis of ammonia occurs in the second reactor at a lower process pressure than in the first reactor.

Ammonia Production Plant and Ammonia Production Method
An ammonia production plant and an ammonia production method having high energy saving and environmental friendliness are provided.
An ammonia production plant of the invention is an ammonia production plant for producing ammonia from a carbon-based raw material, including: an ammonia synthesis facility which synthesizes ammonia; a synthesis gas generating facility which generates a synthesis gas for synthesizing ammonia from the carbon-based raw material; and a power generating facility which obtains power, in which the synthesis gas generating facility includes an exhaust heat recovery unit which recovers exhaust heat generated when generating the synthesis gas, in which the power generating facility includes a combustion device which burns oxygen and fuel and a gas turbine which is driven by using a combustion gas containing a CO.sub.2 gas obtained by the combustion device as power so as to generate power and is configured to supply the CO.sub.2 gas discharged from the gas turbine as a recycle gas to the combustion device, in which the power obtained by the power generating facility is used as at least power of the ammonia synthesis facility, and in which the exhaust heat recovered by the exhaust heat recovery unit is used to heat the recycle gas.
SHELL AND TUBE HEAT EXCHANGER
Shell and tube apparatus (1) comprising: an outer shell (2); a first tube bundle (3) and a second tube bundle (4) coaxial with each other; a first inner shell (5) and a second inner shell (6); the first inner shell surrounds the first tube bundle and is arranged between said two tube bundles; the second inner shell surrounds the second tube bundle and is arranged in the space between said second tube bundle and the outer shell (2); the first tube bundle (3) operates as a preheater; the second tube bundle (4) operates as a boiler; the coaxial inner shells (5, 6) define a counterflow path for a hot fluid which passes through the shell side.
AMMONIA PRODUCTION METHOD
High purity hydrogen is produced by a steam reforming hydrogen production unit with at least one of a bayonet reactor for reforming steam and a hydrocarbon, a recuperative burner, and a regenerative burner such that the steam reforming unit produces little or no steam in excess of the steam reforming process requirements. High purity hydrogen is separated from the syngas exiting the reformer via a pressure swing adsorption unit and combined with high purity nitrogen from an air separation unit as feedstock to a Haber process ammonia synthesis unit. Compressors for the ammonia synthesis unit are driven by higher efficiency drivers than are possible using the low temperature steam conventionally exported from a steam reforming unit. Compression power requirements are reduced.
