A dielectric ceramic composition comprising a main component comprising an oxide represented by:
U.sub.aX.sub.bY.sub.cZ.sub.d((Ca.sub.1-x-ySr.sub.xM.sub.y).sub.m(Zr.sub.1-u-vTi.sub.uHf.sub.v)O.sub.3).sub.1-a-b-c-d
wherein the elements defined by U, X, Y, Z and M and subscripts a, b, c, d, x, y, m, u and v are defined.
ELECTRON-EMITTING CERAMIC
Embodiments are directed to the field of ceramics and relate to electron-emitting ceramics such as those which can be used as cathode material for electron emissions in space flight systems, for example. Embodiments specify an electron-emitting ceramic which has an improved temperature conductivity with a simultaneously continuous electron emission. The electron-emitting ceramic contains at least>70 vol. % C12A7 electride and a proportion of Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, W, Mn, Re, Fe, Ru, Os, Ni, Pd, Pt, Cu, Ag, Au, Zn, Cd, In, Sn, Sb, Te, Tl, Pb, or Bi as metal and/or with Ti, wherein the proportion of the metals lies between>0 and<30 vol. %, and the ceramic has a density of at least 85% of the theoretical density of the ceramic and the ceramic contains 0 to maximally 10 vol. % production-specific impurities.

A piezoelectric material including a perovskite-type metal oxide represented by the following general formula (1); Bi; and Mn, wherein the content of Bi is 0.1-0.5 mol % with respect to 1 mol of the metal oxide, the content of Mn is 0.3-1.5 mol % with respect to 1 mol of the metal oxide, and the piezoelectric material satisfies (L.sub.4−L.sub.5)/L.sub.5≧0.05 and (L.sub.8−L.sub.9)/L.sub.9≧0.05 when the lengths of twelve Bi—O bonds with Bi that is located at a 12-fold site with respect to O in a perovskite-type unit cell as a starting point are taken to be L.sub.1 to L.sub.12 in length order:

wherein 0≦x≦0.2, 0≦y≦0.1, and M1 and M2 are mutually different metal elements which have a total valence of +6 and are selected from other elements than Ba, Ti, Bi and Mn.
DIELECTRIC COMPOSITION AND ELECTRONIC COMPONENT
A dielectric composition is provided. The dielectric composition includes: a main component made of: a first complex oxide expressed by a chemical formula {K(Ba.sub.1-xSr.sub.x).sub.2Nb.sub.5O.sub.15}; and a second complex oxide expressed by a chemical formula that differs the chemical formula of the first complex oxide. The second complex oxide is a complex oxide expressed by one of chemical formulae: {(Ca.sub.1-ySr.sub.y)(Zr.sub.1-zTi.sub.z)O.sub.3}; {Ba(Ti.sub.1-uZr.sub.u)O.sub.3}; {(Ca.sub.1-vSr.sub.v)TiSiO.sub.5}; and {(Ba.sub.1-wRe.sub.2w/3)Nb.sub.2O.sub.6}, x satisfies 0.35≦x≦0.75, and a satisfies 0.25≦a≦0.75 when a molar ratio between the first and second complex oxides is defined by a:b in an order and a+b=1.00.
Ferrite sintered magnet, ferrite particle, bonded magnet and rotating electric machine
This ferrite sintered magnet comprises ferrite phases having a magnetoplumbite type crystal structure. This magnet comprises an element R, an element M, Fe, Co, B, Mn and Cr, the element R is at least one element selected from rare earth elements including Y, the element M is at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ca, Sr and Ba, with Ca being an essential element, and when an atomic composition of metallic elements is represented by R.sub.1-xM.sub.xFe.sub.m-yCo.sub.y, x, y and m satisfy formulae:
0.2≤x≤0.8 (1)
0.1≤y≤0.65 (2)
3≤m<14 (3). Additionally, a content of B is 0.1 to 0.4% by mass in terms of B.sub.2O.sub.3, a content of Mn is 0.15 to 1.02% by mass in terms of MnO, and a content of Cr is 0.02 to 2.01% by mass in terms of Cr.sub.2O.sub.3.
CERAMIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL
A process for manufacturing ceramic-metal composite material, comprises dissolving ceramic powder into water to obtain an aqueous solution of ceramic; mixing metal powder having a multimodal particle size where largest particle size is one fourth of the minimum dimension of a device, with the aqueous solution of ceramic to obtain a powder containing ceramic precipitated on the surface of metal particles; mixing the powder containing ceramic precipitated on the surface of the metal particles, with ceramic powder having a particle size below 50 μm, to obtain a powder mixture; adding saturated aqueous solution of ceramic to the powder mixture to obtain an aqueous composition containing ceramic and metal; compressing the aqueous composition to form a disc of ceramic-metal composite material containing ceramic and metal; and removing water from the ceramic-metal composite material; wherein ceramic content of the disc is 10 vol-% to 35 vol-%. Alternatively, ceramic-ceramic composite material may be manufactured.
THERMISTOR SINTERED BODY AND TEMPERATURE SENSOR ELEMENT
Provided is a thermistor sintered body which stably provides a desired B constant even if a composition deviation of an additive element has occurred. The thermistor sintered body-includes a Y.sub.2O.sub.3 phase and a YMnO.sub.3 phase, wherein a chemical composition of Cr, Mn, Ca and Y excluding oxygen includes Cr: 3 mol % or less (while including 0%), Mn: 5 to 18 mol %, Ca: 1 to 18 mol %, and Sr: 1 to 25 mol %, with the balance being unavoidable impurities and Y. In the thermistor sintered body, Ca and Sr may be dissolved in the YMnO.sub.3 phase.
SELF-DECONTAMINATING ANTIMICROBIAL COMPOSITIONS, ARTICLES, AND STRUCTURES, AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
An antimicrobial material including a substrate and an antimicrobial mixed metal oxide, mixed metal sulfide, or mixed metal oxysulfide in and/or on the substrate is described, as well as antimicrobial coating materials and coatings formed therefrom. The antimicrobial material may be constituted in an antimicrobial surface of a surface-presenting substrate, to combat transmission and spread of microbial disease, e.g., disease mediated by microbial pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi. Antimicrobial mixed metal oxide, mixed metal sulfide, or mixed metal oxysulfide as described may be contacted with microorganisms to effect inactivation thereof.
POTASSIUM SODIUM NIOBATE CERAMICS WITH SINGLE CRYSTAL
Disclosed is a (K,Na)NbO.sub.3 (abbreviated by “KNN”)-based single crystal ceramic. The KNN-based single crystal ceramic according to the present disclosure is formulated by (K.sub.0.5−x/2Na.sub.0.5−x/2−y□.sub.y/2M.sub.x+y/2)Nb.sub.1−x/3+yO.sub.3, wherein M indicates a metal having a different valence from Na, and □ indicates a metal vacancy. The above formulated KNN-based single crystal ceramic allows compensating for the volatilization of Na in a growing grain due to the addition of M.sup.2+ ions, and substituting M.sup.2+ ions for Na.sup.+ ions to form metal vacancies, thereby making possible the single crystal growth.
FERRITE SINTERED MAGNET
Provided is a ferrite sintered magnet including: magnetoplumbite type ferrite crystal grains; and a two-grain boundary interposed between the ferrite crystal grains. The two-grain boundary contains Ca and La, and an atomic ratio Ca/La at the two-grain boundary is 0.3 to 3.0.
