Strongly scattering ceramic converter and method for producing same
A strongly scattering optoceramic converter material having a density of less than 97% is provided, as well as a method for producing such an optoceramic material. By appropriately choosing in particular the composition, blending method, and sintering conditions, the production method permits to produce converter materials with tailored properties.
ZIRCONIA LAYERED BODY
A layered body, which has a change in texture derived from zirconia, particularly a change in translucency and is suitable as a dental prosthetic member, a precursor thereof, or a method for producing these. The layered body has a structure in which two or more layers containing zirconia containing a stabilizer are layered, the layered body including at least: a first layer containing zirconia having a stabilizer content of higher than or equal to 4 mol %; and a second layer containing zirconia having a stabilizer content different from that of the zirconia contained in the first layer. At least one layer contains one or more elements capable of coloring zirconia.
LIGHT EMITTING DEVICE AND MEDICAL DEVICE USING SAME
A light emitting device (1) is a light emitting device for use in a photodynamic therapy. The light emitting device includes: a solid-state light-emitting element (2) that emits primary light in which an energy density is 0.5 W/mm.sup.2 or more; and a wavelength converter (3) including a first phosphor (4) that emits first wavelength-converted light (7). The first wavelength-converted light has a light component across at least a whole of a wavelength range of 700 nm or more and less than 800 nm. Energy of fluorescence emitted from the wavelength converter is 100 mW or more. A medical device includes the light emitting device.
CERAMIC ELECTRONIC COMPONENT COMPRISING DIELECTRIC GRAINS HAVING A CORE-DUAL SHELL STRUCTURE AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING THE SAME
A ceramic electronic component includes a body, including a dielectric layer and an internal electrode. The dielectric layer includes a plurality of dielectric grains, and at least one of the plurality of dielectric grains has a core-dual shell structure having a core and a dual shell. The dual shell includes a first shell, surrounding at least a portion of the core, and a second shell, surrounding at least a portion of the first shell. The dual shell includes different types of rare earth elements R1 and R2, and R2.sub.S1/R1.sub.S1 is 0.01 or less and R2.sub.S2/R1.sub.S1 is 0.5 to 3.0, where R1.sub.S1 and R1.sub.S2 denote concentrations of R1 included in the first shell and the second shell, respectively, and R2.sub.S1 and R2.sub.S2 denote concentrations of R2 included in the first shell and the second shell, respectively.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING DENSE LAYERS THAT CAN BE USED AS ELECTRODES AND/OR ELECTROLYTES FOR LITHIUM ION BATTERIES, AND LITHIUM ION MICROBATTERIES OBTAINED IN THIS WAY
A method for manufacturing a dense layer that includes: supplying a substrate and a suspension of non-agglomerated nanoparticles of a material P; depositing a layer on the substrate using the suspension; drying the layer thus obtained; and densifying the dried layer by mechanical compression and/or heat treatment. The method is characterised in that the suspension of non-agglomerated nanoparticles of material P includes nanoparticles of material P having a size distribution having a value of D50. The distribution includes nanoparticles of material P of a first size D1 between 20 nm and 50 nm, and nanoparticles of material P of a second size D2 characterised by the value D50 being at least five times less than that of D1, or the distribution has a mean size of nanoparticles of material P less than 50 nm, and a standard deviation to mean size ratio greater than 0.6.

LITHOGRAPHY-BASED PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF TRANSPARENT CERAMIC BODIES WITH AT LEAST TWO ZONES OF DIFFERENT COMPOSITION AND TRANSPARENT CERAMIC BODIES THUS OBTAINED
It is described a process for producing transparent ceramic bodies with at least two zones having different garnet composition, in particular in which one of said zones has composition Y.sub.3AI.sub.5O.sub.12. The invention is especially useful for the production of transparent ceramic bodies having preset complex shapes and/or a controlled complex distribution of doping ions.
SINTERED ZIRCONIA BALLS
A sintered bead and an associated method. The sintered bead has the following chemical composition, as mass percentages on the basis of the oxides: ZrO.sub.2+HfO.sub.2+Y.sub.2O.sub.3+CeO.sub.2: remainder to 100%; 0%≤Al.sub.2O.sub.3≤1.5%; CaO≤2%; oxides other than ZrO.sub.2, HfO.sub.2, Y.sub.2O.sub.3, CeO.sub.2, Al.sub.2O.sub.3 and CaO: ≤5%. The contents of Y.sub.2O.sub.3 and CeO.sub.2, as molar percentages on the basis of the sum of ZrO.sub.2, HfO.sub.2, Y.sub.2O.sub.3 and CeO.sub.2, being such that 1.8%≤Y.sub.2O.sub.3≤2.5% and 0.1%≤CeO.sub.2≤0.9%. The sintered bead has following crystalline phases, as mass percentages on the basis of the crystalline phases and for a total of 100%: stabilized zirconia: remainder to 100%; monoclinic zirconia: ≤10%; crystalline phases other than stabilized zirconia and monoclinic zirconia: <7%.
DIELECTRIC COMPOSITION AND ELECTRONIC COMPONENT
A dielectric composition is provided. The dielectric composition includes: a main component made of: a first complex oxide expressed by a chemical formula {K(Ba.sub.1-xSr.sub.x).sub.2Nb.sub.5O.sub.15}; and a second complex oxide expressed by a chemical formula that differs the chemical formula of the first complex oxide. The second complex oxide is a complex oxide expressed by one of chemical formulae: {(Ca.sub.1-ySr.sub.y)(Zr.sub.1-zTi.sub.z)O.sub.3}; {Ba(Ti.sub.1-uZr.sub.u)O.sub.3}; {(Ca.sub.1-vSr.sub.v)TiSiO.sub.5}; and {(Ba.sub.1-wRe.sub.2w/3)Nb.sub.2O.sub.6}, x satisfies 0.35≦x≦0.75, and a satisfies 0.25≦a≦0.75 when a molar ratio between the first and second complex oxides is defined by a:b in an order and a+b=1.00.
SCANDIA-STABLIZIED ZIRCONIA ELECTROLYTE FOR SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELL HAVING IMPROVED STABILITY IN REDUCING ATMOSPHERE
Disclosed is a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte for a solid oxide fuel cell, which is configured such that at least one oxide selected from among gadolinium oxide (Gd.sub.2O.sub.3) and samarium oxide (Sm.sub.2O.sub.3) is co-doped with ytterbium oxide (Yb.sub.2O.sub.3) to thus improve stability in a reducing atmosphere. The scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte of the invention can be stabilized into a cubic crystal structure at room temperature while retaining the inherently high oxygen ionic conductivity of a scandia-stabilized zirconia electrolyte (11ScSZ), and can also ensure stability in a reducing atmosphere by solving the problem with a conventional ceria (CeO.sub.2)-doped scandia-stabilized zirconia in which the ionic conductivity continuously deteriorates in a reducing atmosphere.
