A strapping system for retaining a rigid support member of an orthopedic brace in a desired utilitarian position on a body of a wearer is provided which includes a strap having a first strap end, a second strap end and an intermediate strap point between the strap ends. The strap is operatively configured to follow a strap path having a first connection point, a second connection point and a third connection point sequentially positioned on the support member. The first strap end is attached to the first connection point and the strap extends from the first connection point around the body of the wearer to the second connection point where the intermediate strap point is attached thereto. The strap is redirected at the second connection point in an opposing direction and extends back around the body of the wearer to the third connection point where the second strap end is attached thereto.

A hip joint orthotic that can be used in stages. In the first stage the orthotic includes a stiff relatively brace assembly that can limit the amount of allowed flexion, extension, abduction, and adduction. In the second stage the relatively stiff brace can be removed and the orthotic can be used as a soft wrap. In both stages the orthotic is configured to easily mount and retain a thermal pack in a desired position or positions. In many instances the thermal pack will be a cold pack, but in some cases a hot pack may be used as well.

A hip joint orthotic that can be used in stages. A knee brace to stabilize the patella has a main body positionable over the knee, a hinged longitudinal support assembly, a buttress, a buttress retention flap overlaying the buttress, a cam positioned proximal to the support assembly and a tensioning line. The buttress is positioned against the side of the knee opposite the support assembly and applies a variable compression force to the knee. The tensioning line engages the cam and operatively connects it to the buttress via the buttress retention flap to automatically vary the compression force applied to the knee in response to rotation of the support assembly.

A hip brace is provided which includes an iliac crest pressure plate, a femur pressure plate, a quadriceps pressure plate, and a bracket to connect the plates. The bracket includes one or more adjustable hinges to adjust positioning of at least one of the iliac crest pressure plate, the femur pressure plate, or the quadriceps pressure plate to correspond with dimensions of a user. The bracket further includes a range of motion restriction dial to control flexion or extension of the hip of the user, where the range of motion restriction is positioned on the bracket to correspond to the femur pressure plate.

An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis includes a waist strap having first and second ends, a lower strap having first and second ends, and a pocket extending between the waist strap and lower strap. The pocket has inner and outer panels fastened to each other to define an upper opening and a lower opening. A cooling pack including a reservoir and inlet and outlet tubes extending from a bottom of the reservoir is applied to the pocket such that the inlet and outlet tubes pass through the lower opening of the pocket.

A removable and replaceable hip orthotic that includes a back panel formed from a rigid material that supports a patient's lumbar area; a front panel formed from the rigid material that supports the patient's abdomen area and is hinged to the back panel to allow application and removal of the orthotic to the patient; a leg support that extends from the back support that includes a space that allows a patient's leg to pass through into the leg support; and straps to secure the back panel to the front panel and the leg into the leg support.

A multifunctional hip brace comprises a retaining wrapping base of elastic fabric (12) comprising a side portion (13), a lumbar band (14a) and a thigh band (14b), wherein the lumbar band (14a) and the thigh band (14b) are placed at opposite ends of the side portion (13) and can be wrapped about the waist and about a thigh of the patient and can be clamped in adjustable positions through quick hooking means (16), wherein the side portion (13) is entirely made of fabric and wherein the elastic retaining wrapping base (12) comprises a plurality of arrangements (17, 17) for hooking additional accessory elements (18, 18) for selectively limiting the movements of the hip joint, such as an articulated rod (18), said plurality of arrangements (17, 17) being externally constrainable in a removable manner to the side portion (13) through quick hooking means (19), and a pair of elastic pulling strips (18) externally constrainable in a removable manner through quick hooking means (19), diagonally placed between the lumbar band (14a) and the thigh band (14b) in a position crossed to one another, wherein the plurality of first and second arrangements (17, 17) for hooking the additional accessory elements (18, 18) are arranged longitudinally along the side portion (13) and frontally and rearly on the lumbar band (14a) and on the thigh band (14b).

The pelvic fracture splint includes a first portion having a first end and an opposing second end and a second portion having an opening defined therein, the second portion extending downward from the first portion of the pelvic fracture splint substantially at the mid-section of the first portion. The pelvic fracture splint also includes a plurality of strips (preferably three strips) selectively fastening the opposing ends of the first portion and the second portion of the pelvic fracture splint to secure the pelvic fracture splint around the person's waist or hips and groin. The first portion includes a plurality of splints (rigid supports, preferably six in number) vertically positioned along the first portion at spaced apart positions. The opening in the second portion of the pelvic fracture splint may have a triangular shape to avoid placing any unnecessary pressure on the person's genitals.

Disclosed herein is a compression apparatus useful in treating pain, inflammation, or other conditions of a joint and joint area through use of compression and optionally temperature control. The compression apparatus is configured for physical and functional flexibility in that the apparatus is flexible and can be worn over or under clothing. The compression apparatus is generally suited for support of an ankle joint, a knee joint, a wrist joint, shoulder joint, elbow joint or hip joint depending on size, shape and securement configurations. In one embodiment, the compression apparatus comprises at least one flexible compression member and at least one securement means configured for adjustably providing compression to the joint area of a wearer. In certain embodiments, an apparatus of the present disclosure may comprise temperature-control means, decorative features, devices for visual display of treatment information such as elevation and temperature, as well as other information useful in treatment.
