A method of treating a patient's joint having opposing joint surfaces includes providing an elongate member having a proximal end, a distal end and an expandable member near the distal end. The expandable member is positioned in the joint between the joint surfaces and expanded so as to separate the joint surfaces away from one another into a distracted position. The joint is manipulated while in the distracted position so that the joint is distracted and in flexion. A diagnostic or therapeutic procedure is then performed on the joint while maintaining the joint in the flexed and distracted position.

An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis includes a waist strap having first and second ends, a lower strap having first and second ends, and a pocket extending between the waist strap and lower strap. The pocket has inner and outer panels fastened to each other to define an upper opening and a lower opening. A cooling pack including a reservoir and inlet and outlet tubes extending from a bottom of the reservoir is applied to the pocket such that the inlet and outlet tubes pass through the lower opening of the pocket.

An abductor pillow assembly having an abductor pillow removably attached to a panel assembly. The panel assembly has a waist panel, a central web and a thigh panel connected as one integrated panel. The panel assembly also includes a waist strap configured to encircle a user's waist and a thigh strap configured to encircle a first leg (upper thigh) of a user. The abductor pillow includes a main body and an abductor strap. The abductor strap passes through a slot in the main body and attaches at either end to the panel assembly, securing the abductor pillow to the user.

The pelvic fracture splint includes a first portion having a first end and an opposing second end and a second portion having an opening defined therein, the second portion extending downward from the first portion of the pelvic fracture splint substantially at the mid-section of the first portion. The pelvic fracture splint also includes a plurality of strips (preferably three strips) selectively fastening the opposing ends of the first portion and the second portion of the pelvic fracture splint to secure the pelvic fracture splint around the person's waist or hips and groin. The first portion includes a plurality of splints (rigid supports, preferably six in number) vertically positioned along the first portion at spaced apart positions. The opening in the second portion of the pelvic fracture splint may have a triangular shape to avoid placing any unnecessary pressure on the person's genitals.

An improved pain management and post-operative hip orthosis includes a waist strap having first and second ends and a lateral portion therebetween, a lower strap having first and second ends and a lateral portion therebetween, and a pocket extending between the waist strap and lower strap. The pocket has inner and outer panel fastened to each other to define an upper opening and a lower opening. The orthosis further includes an abduction harness including two upper straps and a lower strap coupled to each other at a central union, wherein the upper straps are secured to the top of the pocket and the lower strap is secured to the bottom of the pocket. The orthosis still further includes a rotation strap extending from the bottom of the pocket to a location on the waist strap proximate to the top of the pocket.

A hinge for an orthopedic device includes a first part having a first end with a gear component, and a second part hingedly attached to the first part. The second part defines a cavity at a first end, and a worm is located within the cavity and engages the gear component. An adjustment element is adapted to regulate the worm relative to the gear component for articulating the first part relative to the second part.

A therapeutic device for slowly stretching a three-dimensional hip joint for reposition movement, where a chest-abdomen fastener fixing band (2) is fixed to a back cover (1); a shoulder fastener suspension band (3) is fixed to the back cover (1) and the chest-abdomen fastener fixing band (2); a pair of wing-shaped supporting bars (5) is fixed to the back cover (1); a pair of limb fixing bars (6) is connected to telescopic ends of a pair of hip joint forward-backward movement adjusters (9), and the pair of hip joint forward-backward movement adjusters (9) are fixed to the back cover (1); upward-downward lifting chute screws (4) are connected to hooks of the pair of wing-shaped supporting bars (5) and the limb fixing bars (6); and an inward-outward telescopic screw (8) is connected between the pair of limb fixing bars (6) which are provided with limb fastener fixing bands (7).

An anatomical brace for dynamically stabilizing the patella during knee articulation so as to address patella tracking error, the anatomical brace being configured such that, when the anatomical brace is mounted to the knee of a patient, and when the knee thereafter moves to full extension, the anatomical brace applies a proximal/medial force to the patella of the patient, and when the knee thereafter moves to full flexion, the proximal/medial force is released.
