ONE-COMPONENT TOUGHENED EPOXY ADHESIVES
One-component epoxy adhesives containing a phosphorus-modified epoxy resin, a toughener and an epoxy resin that is neither rubber-modified nor phosphorus-modified. These adhesives are structural adhesives useful in automotive applications. They exhibit particularly good corrosion resistance.
Use of block copolymers in adhesives
The present invention relates to the use of block copolymers produced from OH-functionalized polyolefins and polyesters in adhesives or sealants and to adhesives or sealants containing said block co-polymers.
POLYURETHANE ADHESIVE AND MIXTUREUSED FOR MANUFACTURING PLASTIC ATHLETIC TRACK
A polyurethane adhesive and a mixture used for manufacturing a plastic athletic track are provided. The polyurethane adhesive includes a urethane pre-polymer which is formed by a reaction between an isocyanate and a polyol. The polyol is selected from the group consisting of polyether polyol and polybutadiene polyol, and a number average molecular weight of the polyol is between 1,000 g/mole and 6,000 g/mole. Based on the total weight of the polyurethane adhesive, a content of the urethane pre-polymer is between 80 wt % and 99.5 wt %, and a viscosity of the polyurethane adhesive is between 1,000 cps and 3,000 cps under an environmental temperature of between 15 C. and 40 C.
HIGH MODULUS, TOUGHENED ONE-COMPONENT EPOXY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVES WITH HIGH ASPECT RATIO FILLERS
One-component toughened epoxy structural adhesives contain fibrous mineral fillers that have an aspect ratio of 6. The presence of the fibrous filler leads to a significant increase in elastic modulus while having little if any adverse effect on other properties such as dynamic impact peel resistance.
REACTIVE ADHESIVES BASED ON BLOCK COPOLYMERS
The present invention relates to a composition comprising the reaction product of a block copolymer based on OH-functional polyolefin which is unhydrogenated, preferably polybutadiene, and cyclic esters in the form of a polyol having at least 1.8, preferably at least two, OH groups and at least one isocyanate compound having at least two isocyanate groups, which is notable in that the composition includes at least 0.0001% to 40% by weight of titanium and has a content of free isocyanate groups of at least 0.1% by weight based on the overall composition, to a process for preparation thereof and to the use of the composition for bonding of substrates.
ONE-COMPONENT TOUGHENED EPOXY ADHESIVES WITH IMPROVED ADHESION TO OILY SURFACES AND HIGH WASH-OFF RESISTANCE
Epoxy adhesives include a latent curing agent, a reactive toughener having capped isocyanate groups, and certain urea compounds. The toughener is made by chain extending and capping a mixture of isocyanate-terminated prepolymers. The prepolymers include an isocyanate-terminated polyether and an isocyanate-terminated diene polymer. The adhesives have excellent wash-off resistance and excellent ability to adhere to oily substrates.
Aqueous polyurethane dispersions
The present invention relates to processes for the manufacture of aqueous polyurethane dispersions that can be used as adhesives or coatings, are solvent free and have low VOC emissions, and are environmentally friendly. Also encompassed are the dispersions as such, compositions containing them and their use as coatings and adhesives.
METHOD FOR STRUCTURALLY JOINING SUBSTRATES HAVING DIFFERENT COEFFICIENTS OF LINEAR THERMAL EXPANSION
A method of bonding substrates having different coefficients of thermal expansion, especially in the shell construction of modes of transport or white goods, using a one-component thermosetting epoxy resin composition containing toughness improvers based on terminally blocked polyurethane prepolymers.
Encapsulation of hydrophilic additives
The instant invention relates to a process for the encapsulation of a non-amine hydrophilic compound C, comprising the steps of: (E1) providing a reverse emulsion containing: an oil phase (O), comprising a curable mixture of isocyanate and polyalkyldiene hydroxylated or polyol dispersed in said oil phase, drops of an aqueous phase W.sup.1, containing: said non-amine hydrophilic compound C; and at least 5% by weight of a compound C carrying more than 2 amine groups; (E2) pouring the reverse emulsion of step (E1) in a second water phase W.sup.2 to make a multiple emulsion water/oil/water; and, then, (E3) curing into polyurethane all or part of the curable mixture contained in the oil phase.
TWO-COMPONENT POLYURETHANE COMPOSITION
A two-component polyurethane composition which includes a polyol component and a polyisocyanate component, wherein the polyol component includes at least one reaction product of epoxidized vegetable oils with monofunctional C.sub.1-8-alcohols A1-1 and/or at least one reaction product of epoxidized fatty acid esters with monofunctional C.sub.1-8-alcohols with aliphatic alcohols A1-2, at least one polybutadiene polyol A2 and at least one alkoxulated alkylenediamine A3. The polyurethane composition of the invention has high strength and only a minor dependence of mechanical properties, especially of strength, on temperature, especially in the range from 50 C. to +120 C.
