ULTRASONICALLY DETECTABLE INTRAUTERINE SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR ENHANCING ULTRASOUND DETECTION
The present invention relates to ultrasonically detectable intrauterine systems and to a method for enhancing ultra-sound detection of these systems. An intrauterine sys-tem having an inert metal coating on at least part of the body of the intrauterine system or at least one inert metal clip, pin, ring or sleeve fixedly positioned on the body of the intrauterine system is described.
Apparatus and method for everting catheter for IUD delivery and placement in the uterine cavity
An everting balloon system is disclosed that can be used for the placement of an IUD within the uterine cavity of a female patient. The everting balloon system with IUD can be used to access a uterine cavity at specific locations in the fundus. A one-handed IUD delivery system for placement with an everting catheter is disclosed. An IUD loading system for placement within an everting catheter is disclosed. The everting catheter with an IUD can simplify the process of IUD placement within the uterine cavity.
CONTROLLED-RELEASE DEVICE
An implantable and/or injectable device made of biodegradable material which comprises two hollow volumes where said device comprises a cylinder, which comprises a top portion and a bottom portion, where the top end and bottom end of said cylinder are open and via said openings on said top and bottom ends a first hollow volume and a second hollow volume are respectively accessed, where said first hollow volume and second hollow volume are separated from each other by a partition and are characterized in that the side wall of said first hollow volume has a thickness which is smaller than the thickness of the side wall of said second hollow volume. A method for manufacturing, filling with at least one active agent and closing said device and the use of the said device filled with at least one active agent for the treatment and/or the prevention of pathologies which require repeated and programmed administration over time.
ELASTIC BIORESORBABLE ENCASEMENT FOR IMPLANTS
Disclosed herein are elastic, bioresorbable encasements for medical implants, methods for making the same and uses thereof.
Intrauterine device with retrieval thread
An intrauterine contraceptive system may include a contraceptive intrauterine device, a retrieval thread permanently attached to the intrauterine device and an insertion device for inserting the intrauterine device into a uterus. The system may also include a release thread releasably coupled with the intrauterine device. The intrauterine device may be deployable out of a distal end of the insertion device and may be configured to change from a delivery configuration when housed in the insertion device to a deployed configuration when deployed in a uterus. The retrieval thread and the optional release thread may be at least partially housed within the insertion device during insertion of the intrauterine device into the uterus. The release thread may extend from the intrauterine device through the insertion device to an attachment point at or near a proximal end of the insertion device.

Packaging systems for implantable devices and related methods
A tray for securing an implantable device to a carrier member includes a slot configured to retain the carrier member and a receptacle adjacent the slot. The carrier member surrounds a shaft of the implantable device. The receptacle has a first width at a proximal end of the receptacle to receive first and second arms of the implantable device in an initial state in which the first and second arms extend substantially perpendicularly from the shaft. The receptacle has a second width at a distal end of the receptacle for receiving the first and second arms of the implantable device in a collapsed state in which the first and second arms are folded against the shaft such that the carrier member can be slid over the first and second arms to retain the first and second arms. The second width is less than the first width.
INSERTER
The invention relates to an inserter for an intrauterine system, comprising a handle (3) having a longitudinal opening (8) at its first end, said opening (8) having a longitudinal axis parallel to the longitudinal axis of the inserter, a first end (8a) and a second end (8b), a moveable slider (5) arranged in said longitudinal opening (8) and having a first end (5a) and a second end (5b), a plunger (2) attached to the handle (3), an insertion tube (6) arranged around the plunder (2) having a first end and a second end, with its second end attached to the slider (5), wherein the inserter further comprises locking means for reversibly locking the intrauterine system in relation to the plunder (2) via a removal string of the intrauterine system, said locking means being controllable by the slider (5) and/or the insertion tube (6).
