EPOXY CURING AGENTS, COMPOSITIONS AND USES THEREOF
The present invention relates to epoxy curing agents which are obtained from the reaction of a polyalkylene polyether modified polyepoxide resin and a polyamine component. They polyamine component is a reaction product of a polyethylene polyamine having 3 to 10 nitrogen atoms, for example, diethylenetriamine (DETA), and at least one aldehyde having 1 to 8 carbon atoms, for example, formaldehyde. The epoxy curing agent may be used as part of a two component coating system in the curing of liquid or pre-dispersed curable epoxy resins.
BENZYLATED MANNICH BASE CURING AGENTS, COMPOSITIONS, AND METHODS
Compositions and curing agents comprising a benzylated Mannich base composition. The benzylated Mannich base composition includes a reaction product of (a) a substituted phenolic compound having at least one substituent of formula (I):
##STR00001##
wherein R.sub.1 is each independently a linear or branched alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl or phenyl, with (b) a benzylated polyalkylene polyamine (II):
##STR00002##
wherein R.sub.A is substituted or unsubstituted benzyl; R.sub.B is each independently R.sub.A, or a hydrogen atom, or a group selected from C.sub.1-C.sub.16 linear, cyclic, and branched alkyl, alkenyl, and alkaryl groups; X, Y, and Z are independently selected from C.sub.2-C.sub.10 alkylene, and cycloalkylene groups; y is an integer from 0 to 7, and z is an integer from 0 to 4; and, optionally, (c) a multifunctional amine. Amine-epoxy compositions and articles produced from these compositions are also disclosed.
FAST CURING HIGH GLASS TRANSITION TEMPERATURE EPOXY RESIN SYSTEM
A two-component curable epoxy resin system having an epoxy component containing a unique combination of two or more epoxy resins with at least one of the epoxy resins being an epoxy novolac type resin. The composite made from such resin system exhibits high glass transition temperature.
CURING AGENT FOR EPOXY RESIN ADHESIVES
A hardener for epoxy resins, containing at least one amine A1 of formula (I) and at least one amine A2 of formula (II), the weight ratio of amine A1 to amine A2 ranging between 20/1 and 1/2. The hardener allows the manufacture of low-emission epoxy resin adhesives having good workability, a sufficiently long pot-life and open time with rapid curing, high strength, low brittleness, high adhesion, in particular to steel, and a sufficiently high glass transition temperature.
HARDENER COMPOSITION
A hardener composition including: (a) a polymeric adduct; (b) a monomeric unmodified amine; and (c) an extender; a curable composition including (A) at least one epoxy compound; and (B) the above hardener composition; and a thermoset prepared from the above curable composition.
