Methods and devices are disclosed for infrared phototherapy. The device can include a flexible substrate, a plurality of infrared light sources associated with the substrate and a drive circuitry configured to couple to a power supply and connected to the light sources to activate the light sources to emit infrared radiation. The device can be positioned on a subject's body to transmit infrared radiation to a target region of skin or muscle tissue of a subject to raise the temperature of the target region above normal body temperature. The plurality of light sources can be disposed in a spaced-apart relationship on the substrate such that collectively they emit infrared radiation in an overlapping pattern that provides for substantially uniform exposure of a target region. The substrate can be actively cooled to control the surface temperature of the target region. The device can further include a light-transmissive sealing element to isolate the LEDs from contact with the subject's body.

AESTHETIC METHOD OF BIOLOGICAL STRUCTURE TREATMENT BY MAGNETIC FIELD

In combined methods for treating a patient using time-varying magnetic field, treatment methods combine various approaches for aesthetic treatment. A magnetic field generating device is placed proximate to a body region of the patient. The magnetic field generating device generates a time-varying magnetic field with a magnetic flux density in a range of 0.5 to 7 Tesla. The time-varying magnetic field is applied to the body region of the patient in order to cause a contraction of a muscle within the body region. A second therapy may be used by applying one or more of optical waves, radio frequency waves, mechanical waves, negative or positive pressure or heat to the body region of the patient.

Systems and Methods For Improved Thermally Controlled Therapeutic Devices

A wearable, compact therapeutic thermal control system includes a therapeutic component attached to the body of the patient, and a thermal control module is fluidically coupled to the therapeutic component. The thermal module includes a power supply; a controller; a wireless interface communicatively coupled to the controller; an electrothermal device, and electrical terminals communicatively coupled to the controller; a heatsink/fan subassembly thermally coupled to the first side of electrothermal device; a heat exchanger block thermally coupled to the second side of the electrothermal device; and a pump device configured to cause flow of a working fluid through the heat exchanger block and the therapeutic component. The electrothermal device has a first mode in which heat energy is removed from the working fluid via the heat exchanger block, and a second mode in which heat energy is supplied to the working fluid.

HAPTIC ACTUATORS AND THEIR METHODS OF USE

Methods of operating a haptic actuator to apply physical and/or thermal sensations to a user to provide subjective symptom relief to a user are described. In some embodiments, a haptic actuator may be automatically activated when one or more detected user states are compared to one or more predetermined activation parameters to determine the user is experiencing an episode related to a condition of the user. In another embodiment, one or more operating parameters of a haptic actuator may be updated if the haptic actuator did not provided a desired amount of subjective symptom relief to a user during use. In yet another embodiment, a haptic actuator may create an event log based on activation events when the haptic actuator is used to provide symptom relief for a condition of the user.

Electronically regulated temperature compression brace

The electronically regulated temperature compression device is a brace that applies pressure to an appendage. The electronically regulated temperature compression device applies heat therapy and cooling therapy to the appendage. The temperature of the selected therapy is electronically regulated and controlled. The electronically regulated temperature compression device uses a refrigerant-based heat exchange mechanism during the therapy process. The electronically regulated temperature compression device comprises a composite textile, plurality of fasteners, and a controller. The plurality of fasteners attaches the composite textile to the appendage of the patient. The plurality of fasteners controls the pressure applied by the composite textile to the appendage. The composite textile is a temperature controlled textile used to generate a heat exchange between the electronically regulated temperature compression device and the appendage. The controller manages the temperature and flow of the refrigerant during the therapy process.

Fluidic Bladder Pressure Control in a Therapeutic System

A process for a therapeutic bladder pressure estimator is operative with a pump connected, in sequence, to a first hose, a supply pressure sensor, a second hose, a bladder having an inlet coupled to the second hose, a bladder outlet coupled to a third hose of substantially equal length to the second hose, a return pressure sensor, and a fourth hose coupled to the return pressure sensor and returning fluid from the pump to the reservoir. The process forms an error signal from the difference between a setpoint and the average of the supply and return pressures. A head pressure measurement may be done by turning the pump off after a steady state reading is made.
