WATER-SOLUBLE POLYMER SLURRY FOR FRACTURING FLUIDS
The present disclosure relates to fracturing fluids that use friction reducers. The composition of the present disclosure is a slurry comprising a water-soluble polymer suspended in an oil-based vehicle with the aid of a suspension agent and a surfactant.
Polymer blends for stimulation of oil and gas wells
Compositions and methods for fracturing a subterranean formation are presented. Also provided are compositions and methods for reducing friction-related losses in a well treatment fluid. In general, the compositions include a copolymer that includes one or more vinylphosphonic acid (“VPA”) monomers.
Chemical Additives for Enhancing the Performance of Friction Reducer Solution and Its Applications Thereof
Chemical additives useful for hydraulic fracturing operation are comprising of lubricant/nonpolar solvents; hydro-dual-phobic domains as core encapsulated by emulsifiers as shell, suspended in water by hydrogel polymers as hydrophilic domains; soy protein isolate (SPI) and sweet rice flour were modified with crosslinking polymers of isocyanate as hydrophobic domains, which is incorporated into the frac fluid as a standard alone friction reducer solution or as an enhancer of frac fluid viscosity of the final frac fluid products in high salinity brines having a concentration as high as 25.0% at an ambient temperature at a downhole well temperature from 30 to 180° F.
COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR CONTROLLING BACTERIA IN FORMATIONS
A process includes growing nitrate reducing bacteria (NRB) in a nitrate reducing bacteria media to form a NRB culture, the NRB being Halomonas sp. The process also includes combining the NRB culture with a concentrated nitrate solution to form a NRB composition, wherein the concentration of nitrate in the NRB is between 0.5% and 50% active nitrate and injecting the NRB composition into a hydrocarbon-bearing formation.
ELECTRO-RESPONSIVE HYDROGEL FOR RESERVOIR AND DOWNHOLE APPLICATION
Electro-responsive hydrogel particles are flowed into a first wellbore formed in a subterranean formation. An electric circuit is established between the first wellbore and a second wellbore formed in the subterranean formation. An electric current is applied through the electric circuit, thereby exposing the electro-responsive hydrogel particles to an electric field and causing at least one of swelling or aggregation of the electro-responsive hydrogel particles to form a flow-diverting plug within the subterranean formation. Water is flowed into the first wellbore to increase hydrocarbon production from the second wellbore.
Water-Based Anionic Friction Reducer
A system and method for manufacturing and using a water-based friction reducer. The anionic water-based friction reducer is environmentally friendly. It results in long term stability with no separation or solid sediments. It is also less expensive than oil-based friction reducing liquids. The water-based friction reducing liquid has water, a suspension polymer, an inorganic salt, an amide, and a dispersant. The water-based friction reducing liquid can replace oil-based friction reducing liquids.
Method for reducing the viscosity of viscosified fluids for applications in natural gas and oil fields
A method to reduce the viscosity of viscosified treatment fluids is disclosed herein. The method includes a water soluble polymer, a breaker system containing at least one aliphatic azo-compound, mixing the viscosified treatment fluid and the breaker composition and allowing the viscosified treatment fluid and the breaker composition to interact whereby the viscosity of the viscosified treatment is reduced. The application of the process in the production of oil and gas and to the treatment fluids is also discussed.
Low-toxicity, low-flammability, environmentally-safe, friction reducer fluid for hydraulic fracturing
Improved hydraulic fracturing compositions are disclosed which help reduce potential negative environmental impact by hydraulic fracturing. The disclosed compositions have flammability and toxicity and are relatively safe for the environment. The compositions may also contain biodegradable components.
Enhanced High Temperature Crosslinked Fracturing Fluids
A fracturing fluid including a mixture of an aqueous terpolymer composition including a terpolymer, an additive, and crosslinker. The terpolymer includes 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropanesulfonic acid, acrylamide, and acrylic acid monomer units, or a salt thereof. The additive includes a sugar alcohol or a derivative thereof, and the crosslinker includes a metal. The weight ratio of the metal to the terpolymer is in a range of 0.01 to 0.16, and a concentration of the additive is in a range of 0.001 wt. % to 10 wt. % of the fracturing fluid. Treating a subterranean formation includes introducing the fracturing fluid into a subterranean formation, and crosslinking the fracturing fluid in the subterranean formation to yield a crosslinked fracturing fluid. The crosslinked fracturing fluid mitigates damage caused by substantial amounts of total dissolved solids or significant water hardness.
Method for reducing the viscosity of viscosified fluids for applications in natural gas and oil fields
A method to reduce the viscosity of viscosified treatment fluids is disclosed herein. The method includes a water soluble polymer as viscosifying agent, preferably a synthetic water soluble polymer, optionally a crosslinker for the water soluble polymer, a breaker system containing an organic peroxide, mixing the viscosified treatment fluid and the breaker composition and allowing the viscosified treatment fluid and the breaker composition to interact whereby the viscosity of the viscosified treatment is reduced. The application of the process in the production of oil and gas is also discussed.
