Hand-held mouthpiece for cooling of oral tissue of a user
11357664 · 2022-06-14 · ·

A mouthpiece having particular suitability for cooling oral tissue of a patient undergoing chemotherapy or other medical treatments in which reducing oral cavity temperature is beneficial. The mouthpiece includes a cooling medium contained within the top element and the bottom element and able to retain a cooling environment within the mouth, preferably sufficient to reduce capillary blood flow to the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, an external chamber extends from the front of the mouthpiece to house a cooling medium. A bladder is positioned inside the external chamber for storing a solution having a freezing temperature above the freezing point temperature of the cooling medium to assist in cooling the cooling medium. At least one breathing tube extends through the external chamber to permit a patient to breathe through the mouth when the mouthpiece is emplaced within the mouth in the operative close-fitting relationship.

Articulatable, Distributed Weight Heating Pads
20220160540 · 2022-05-26 ·

A distributed-weight heating pad includes a weighted layer in between two covers that provides additional pressure on a user. The weighted layer has a plurality of pockets with weighted elements therein and formed with channels between pockets that allow or enhance articulation of the distributed-weight heating pad. A heating element layer is also disposed between the covers along with a controller and battery that cause the heating element layer to provide both conductive heating and radiation heating. Moreover, the controller may cause the heat from the heating element layer to have a ramping segment to quickly apply heat until a desired temperature is reached. Other devices and methods are presented.

GEL CAP

Presented is a gel cap adapted to relieve headaches, migraine, headache, fever, stress, or similar medical conditions in users. The gel cap includes one or more chambers defined by one or more stretchable and flexible pieces of fabric, and filled with a temperature-variable substance. In use, one of the chambers substantially covers a frontal region of a user's head and a front face extending until the cheekbones of the user, and another chamber substantially covers a rear region of the user's head extending from parietal to occipital region. The chambers are isolated from each other by a region extending from mesh covers that attaches one chamber to the other chamber and substantially cover ears of the user. The chamber covering frontal region of the user's head and the front face includes a V shaped cut-out section conforming to the nose of the user.

MECHANISM FOR AUTOMATED INJURY STABILIZATION AND TREATMENT

Systems and methods are disclosed that relate to a stabilization and cooling apparatus having a stabilizing structure with at least one inflatable chamber, the stabilizing structure configured to become semi-rigid upon inflation of the at least one inflatable chamber. A cooling structure is integrated with the stabilizing structure and includes a single-use cooling element and a thermally conductive material in thermal communication with the single-use cooling element. The apparatus also has an actuator configured to cause inflation of at least one inflatable chamber.

APPARATUS FOR THERMAL THERAPY TREATMENT OF A SELECTED REGION OF THE BODY OF A HUMAN OR OF AN ANIMAL AND METHOD OF OPERATING SAID APPARATUS
