TOURNIQUET AND TISSUE PRESERVATION SYSTEM
A tourniquet apparatus (10) comprises at least two expandable members (21,22) configured for applying pressure on a limb of a subject; and actuating means (143,144) for actuating the at least two expandable members (21,22), wherein the actuating means (143,144) are configured to actuate each expandable member independently and/or selectively. There is also provided a limb-cooling apparatus (200) comprising an inner stretchable layer (210) configured to engage and/or contact a limb of a subject; an outer layer (220) at least partially attached to the inner layer (210); and a cooling system (240) configured to supply a cooling medium (250) between the inner layer (210) and the outer layer (220).
EXOTHERMICALLY HEATED ELASTIC ADHESIVE TAPE AND WRAP WITH IMPROVEMENTS
A tape 400 or wrap is provided which includes first and second elongated elastic layers 345, 346 sized to conform to the shape of a portion of the external skin of the body of a wearer; and a heated area comprising an exothermic material 310 sandwiched between said first and second elastic layers 345, 346, wherein said exothermic material 310 is activated by exposing said exothermic material 310 to oxygen; wherein said tape 400 or wrap has a elasticity of at least about 10-90% and said heated area is capable of substantially expanding and contracting with the tape or wrap. Methods of using the tape 400 or wrap are also provided.
FLEXIBLE THERMAL DEVICE
Flexible thermal devices comprising an elastic fabric ring having an inner fabric layer and an outer fabric layer and first terminal circumference at a first edge and a second terminal circumference at an opposite second edge, a plurality of panels defined between the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer creating a first panel row, and a plurality of gel cells being retained in the plurality of panels in the panel row, wherein the panels are bordered by stretch stitches joining the inner fabric layer and the outer fabric layer, and methods of treatment using the Flexible thermal devices.
A Blanket for Forced Air Warming of a Patient
A blanket for forced air warming of a patient, the blanket including a non-air permeable outer layer an air permeable inner layer contactable to the patient; the outer layer and inner layer defining an inflatable chamber, the inflatable chamber allowing egress of the forced warming air through the inner layer; wherein in use, the inflated chamber provides visual transparency of the patient.
COOLING PAD
The invention provides a cooling pad 110 for alleviation of pain or discomfort, especially in the perineum as a result of childbirth. The pad 110 has at least one chamber 116 containing a fluid (such as saline) for cooling. There is at least one aperture 126 for allowing passage of body fluid. The aperture 126 is located inboard of the chamber 116.
Aperture 126 is formed in a web 124.
Cooling pad 110 may be used alone or as part of an assembly, sandwiched between cover layer 130 and peel-off backing 132, and is intended to be placed in a freezer prior to use.
MOUTHPIECE FOR COOLING OF ORAL TISSUE OF A PATIENT
A mouthpiece having particular suitability for cooling oral tissue of a patient undergoing chemotherapy or other medical treatments in which reducing oral cavity temperature is beneficial. The mouthpiece includes a cooling medium contained within the top element and the bottom element and able to retain a cooling environment within the mouth, preferably sufficient to reduce capillary blood flow to the patient's mouth. In one embodiment, an external chamber extends from the front of the mouthpiece to house a cooling medium. A bladder is positioned inside the external chamber for storing a solution having a freezing temperature above the freezing point temperature of the cooling medium to assist in cooling the cooling medium. At least one breathing tube extends through the external chamber to permit a patient to breathe through the mouth when the mouthpiece is emplaced within the mouth in the operative close-fitting relationship.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THERMAL TREATMENT OF TISSUE
Systems and methods for a medical device configured to provide cooling to a tissue region are provided. The medical device may be configured to noninvasively or invasively cool the tissue region to a predetermined operating temperature via a two-phase heat transfer process.
Cold Therapy Device
The present invention is directed to a device for absorbing heat from a body. More particularly, the invention pertains to an improved device which utilizes a gel material comprising liquids and solids to absorb, over an extended period of time, heat from a body. The present invention also includes methods of providing cold therapy treatment to a user
Compartmentalized Heat Transfer Wrap and Method
A compaitmentalized heat transfer wrap for absorbing heat from a living body including a moisture-proof, outer envelope being sealed about a periphery thereof to form an outer boundary, the outer envelope being compartmentalized into a plurality of individual sealed pockets wherein each of the sealed pockets is isolated from each of the remaining individual sealed pockets, each of the individual sealed pockets including a formulated cooling medium encapsulated therein, the cooling medium having a combination of components including carboxymethyl cellulose in powder form, water, and a stabilizing additive for absorbing heat generated by a living body in contact with the outer envelope while the cooling medium is employed and functional at ambient temperature.
THERAPEUTIC SPLINT
A therapeutic splint for the treatment of one or more joint areas of a patient. The splint includes longitudinal housings extending along a longitudinal axis (L) and arranged parallel to this longitudinal axis (L); one or more modular cartridges with therapeutic effect suitable for being arranged in the housings according to the joint area (s) to be treated. The splint further includes at least one transverse and/or oblique housing extending along one or more transverse and/or oblique axes (O), respectively, with respect to the longitudinal axis (L) of the splint. The transverse and/or oblique housing is arranged so as to cover an area extending around a joint to be treated. The modular cartridge or cartridges are arranged in the transverse and/or oblique housings according to the joint area(s) to be treated.
