Airborne Engine Additive Delivery System
A method of introducing additives to an air intake system of an engine in order to overcome one or more of the various problems created by formulation of additives in fuels. The method controls at least one of the amount, aerosol particle size and timing of introduction of additives based on information relevant to operation of the engine. The introduced additives form an air-additive mixture and are carried by the airflow in the air-intake system to the combustion chamber of the engine. Another aspect of the invention is an additive introduction system that includes one or more containers for additives, a control system for determining at least one of the amount, aerosol particle size and timing of introduction of the additives, and a device to introduce the additives into the air intake system under the control of the control system.
Diesel Fuel Compositions
The present disclosure provides a diesel fuel composition containing DMC and multifunctional additives to reduce particulate emission, improve efficiency and be used in cold and/or hypoxia conditions.
Fuel compositions for catalytic burners
Fuels compositions based on exempt compounds are provided. These fuels are useful in catalytic burner systems that can be used to disperse fragrances, insecticides, insect repellants (e.g., citronella), aromatherapy compounds, medicinal compounds, deodorizing compounds, disinfectant compositions, fungicides and herbicides.
POLYMERS
The present invention is a polymer having structural units, units of formula I, units of formula II and units of either formula IIIa or formula IIIb:
##STR00001##
The polymer improves the low-temperature properties of fuel oils from petroleum sources and especially from vegetable or animal sources.
Liquid composition
A liquid fuel composition comprising a base fuel suitable for use in an internal combustion engine; one or more organic UV filter compounds; and one or more ester co-additive compounds provides improvements in terms of stability properties in an additive blend containing said one or more organic UV filter compounds and said one or more ester co-additive compounds, particularly at low temperatures, such as temperatures of 5 C. or lower.
Renewable diamondoid fuels
A method to generate dense, multi-cyclic diamondoid fuels from bio-derived sesquiterpenes. This process can be conducted with both heterogeneous and homogenous catalysts and produces the targeted isomers in high yield. The resulting multi-cyclic structures impart significantly higher densities and volumetric net heats of combustion while maintaining low viscosities which allow for use at low temperature/high altitude. Moreover, bio-derived sesquiterpenes can be produced from renewable biomass sources. Use of these fuels will decrease Navy dependence on fossil fuels and will also reduce net carbon emissions.
FORMULATION OF A NEW DIESEL FUEL SUITABLE FOR DIESEL ENGINES
The new fuel conceived for diesel engines is formulated using one part of standard diesel fuel and two groups of components with different characteristic rating. The first group is composed by reformulated chemicals, while the second group in made by a blend of vegetal oils properly balanced.
The fuel obtained with this formulation has a better thermodynamic performance and allows an appreciable reduction of carbon dioxide (CO.sub.2) and particulate matter (PT) output which are, respectively, approximately 50% and 60% lower
