Macromolecular corrosion (MCIN) inhibitors: structures, methods of making and using the same
Disclosed are multifunctional compounds represented by structural formula (I): ##STR00001##
methods of producing compounds represented by structural formula (I) and their use in inhibiting corrosion in corrodible material.
Fuel compositions
Fuel composition comprising: (i) a base fuel suitable for use in an internal combustion engine; and (ii) a blend of a first monoalkyl alkenyl succinate and a second monoalkyl alkenyl succinate wherein the first monoalkyl alkenyl succinate and the second monoalkyl alkenyl succinate each have the formula (I) or (II) below, or are an isomeric mixture of formula (I) and (II) below: ##STR00001## where R is a linear or branched alkenyl group containing from 4 to 30 carbon atoms, and R.sup.1 is a linear or branched C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkyl group; and wherein the first monoalkyl alkenyl succinate is different from the second monoalkyl alkenyl succinate. The fuel compositions of the present invention have been found to provide a synergistic reduction in engine wear.
USE AND METHOD FOR REDUCING DEPOSITS IN A DIESEL ENGINE
The use of a reaction product of (i) an alcohol and (ii) a dicarboxylic acid compound of formula (I):
##STR00001##
or an anhydride thereof; and/or of a polymer prepared from components (i) and (ii); as an additive in a diesel fuel composition to reduce the impact of deposits in an EGR system and/or the post combustion system of a diesel engine when combusting said diesel fuel composition.
MACROMOLECULAR CORROSION (McIn) INHIBITORS: STRUCTURES, METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject polymer, comprising a specific structural unit, having excellent antimicrobial, anthelmintic, antioxidizing and deodorizing actions and useful as a food, a coating, a fiber, etc. CONSTITUTION: This acrylamidomethylpolyphenol polymer comprises (A) 10-100 mol % structural unit of formula I [R<1> is H or CH3; R<2> is a group of formula II (R<3> is H or OH; R<4> is H or 3,4,5-trihydroxybenzoyl; one of a1 to a4 is a single bond and other three are H) or a group of a benzene skeleton, a naphthalene skeleton or an anthracene skeleton all having >=2 OH groups] and (B) 0-90 mol % structural unit of formula III (R<5> is R<1>; R<6> is H or an alkyl) or a structural unit of the formula [CH2-C(R<7>R<8>)][R<7> is R<1>; R<8> is H, Cl, CN, etc.]. Furthermore, the method for producing the polymer is to carry out the condensing reaction of, e.g. an acrylamide copolymer comprising the structural unit of formula III and the structural unit of the formula [CH2-C(R<7>R<8>)] with the corresponding polyphenol such as a compound of formula IV in the presence of an acidic catalyst in a reaction medium.
