ULTRA-LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT AMIDE/ESTER CONTAINING QUATERNARY AMMONIUM SALTS HAVING SHORT HYDROCARBON TAILS
The present technology is related to amide or ester containing quaternary ammonium salts having a hydrocarbyl substituent of number average molecular weight less 300, and additive packages having such quaternary ammonium salts and improved stability.
Corrosion inhibitor compositions for oxygenated gasolines
This invention relates to corrosion inhibitor additive combinations giving long acting performance in oxygenated gasoline blends comprising either low carbon number (<3) or high carbon number (greater than or equal to 4) alcohols or mixtures thereof and adapted for use in fuel delivery systems and internal combustion engines. The invention also is concerned with a process for conferring anti-corrosion properties to oxygenates in gasoline fuel mixtures wherein the oxygenate comprises biologically-derived butanol.

Fuel additives and formulations for improving performance of gasoline direct injection engines
Fuel additive compositions having at least one acylated detergent, at least one Mannich detergent, and at least one polyether and/or polyetheramine. The acylated detergent may be the reaction product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent and a nitrogen containing compound having at least one amino group, that may optionally be quaternizable, and at least one oxygen or nitrogen atom capable of reacting with the hydrocarbyl-substituted acylating agent. The compositions are useful for reducing the formation of carbonaceous deposits and/or cleaning carbonaceous deposits in an engine, such as a gasoline direct injection engine.

Mixtures for improving or boosting the separation of water from fuels
Mixtures of certain olefin-carboxylic acid copolymers (A) with at least one additive with detergent action, preferably at least one quaternary nitrogen compound (B), and optionally further fuel additives, are useful for improving or boosting the separation of water from fuel oils and gasoline fuels.
Additive composition for motor fuel
The present invention relates to a fuel additive composition comprising at least a first additive chosen from quaternary ammonium salts different from betaines, and at least a second additive chosen from amido alkyl betaines, wherein the weight ratio of the amount of the first additive to the amount of the second additive is within the range of from 1:4 to 4:1. The invention also relates to an additive concentrate and to a fuel composition comprising this additive composition, and also to the use thereof for preventing and/or eliminating the deposits in at least one of the internal parts of an engine.
ASPHALTENE DEPOSITION CONTROL
The use of a three-way combination of additives comprising (B)(i) a metal (C.sub.10 to C.sub.40)hydrocarbyl-substituted hydroxybenzoate detergent; (B)(ii) a poly(C.sub.2 to C.sub.6)alkenyl-substituted anhydride or poly(C.sub.2 to C.sub.6)alkenyl-substituted acid; and (B)(iii) an aliphatic hydrocarbyl acid amide, or an aliphatic hydrocarbyl acid imide, or a combination thereof, to inhibit asphaltene precipitation from crude oil.
FUELS DERIVED FROM ANIMAL OR VEGETABLE OIL SOURCES
There is provided a method of providing an improved biofuel, by the presence of an additive which is the reaction product of (i) a compound containing the segment NR.sup.1R.sup.2 where R.sup.1 represents a group containing from 4 to 44 carbon atoms and R.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a group R.sup.1 (for example di-hydrogenated tallow amine) and (ii) a carboxylic acid having from 1 to 4 carboxylic acid groups or an acid anhydride or acid chloride thereof (for example phthalic acid or phthalic anhydride). The additives described combat problems arising from precipitation at temperatures above the cloud point.
