Composition and method of manufacturing overbased sulfonate modified lithium carboxylate grease
An overbased sulfonate modified lithium carboxylate grease composition and method of manufacture comprising overbased calcium sulfonate, overbased magnesium sulfonate, or both added to a source of lithium hydroxide, base oil, and optionally one or more acids when a complex grease is desired. When overbased sulfonate is added, the amount of dicarboxylic acid relative monocarboxylic acid may be reduced. Additionally, the amount of lithium hydroxide added may be less than stoichiometrically needed to react with the acids. A sulfonate modified lithium grease with improved thickener yield and dropping point may be made without multiple heating and cooling cycles or using a pressurized kettle.
Novel Grease and Methods of Making the Same
The present disclosure relates to a high performance calcium sulfonate greases with enhanced performance benefits and methods for making the same.
Lubricating grease composition
The invention provides a lubricating grease composition comprising an oil of lubricating viscosity, a metallic soap thickener and a boron-containing compound, wherein the boron containing compound comprises a borate ester comprising at least one alkyl group having a branch at the position or higher. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricant composition.
LUBRICATING GREASE COMPOSITION
The present disclosure is related to provide a lubricating grease composition having a high static friction coefficient while maintaining excellent low-temperature torque characteristics, high-temperature shear stability, and high-temperature oil separation characteristics.
A lubricating grease composition of the present disclosure contains a base oil, a thickener, and a solid lubricant, wherein the solid lubricant is calcium carbonate, the amount of the calcium carbonate blended is 1 to 60% by weight based on the total weight of the lubricating grease composition, the calcium carbonate has an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 30 m, the base oil has a kinematic viscosity of 18 to 300 mm.sup.2/s at 40 C., and the lubricating grease composition has a worked penetration of 240 to 320.
Grease composition
A grease composition contains a calcium sulfonate complex grease and an additive. The additive includes an overbased metal sulfonate and an antioxidant. The overbased metal sulfonate is preferably an overbased calcium sulfonate. The antioxidant is preferably an aminic antioxidant.
MINERAL OIL-BASED BASE OIL, LUBRICATING OIL COMPOSITION, EQUIPMENT, LUBRICATING METHOD, AND GREASE COMPOSITION
The present invention provides a mineral base oil having a kinetic viscosity at 100 C. of 7 mm.sup.2/s or more and less than 10 mm.sup.2/s, a viscosity index of 100 or more, and a temperature gradient |*| complex viscosity between two temperature points of 5 C. and 15 C. of 240 mPa.Math.s/ C. or less as measured with a rotary rheometer at an angular velocity of 6.3 rad/s. The use of the mineral base oil enables easy preparation of a lubricating oil composition and a grease composition having excellent oxidation stability while ensuring the freedom of selection of additives.
GREASE COMPOSITION, MACHINE COMPONENT, AND STARTER OVERRUNNING CLUTCH
A silicone grease composition having high friction characteristics and wear characteristics is disclosed. The silicone grease composition is provided by adding a zinc salt (B) containing, at a mass ratio from 1:99 to 99:1, a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (B1) and a zinc dialkyldithiocarbamate (B2) as an extreme-pressure additive to a silicone oil (A).
NOVEL FORMULATION APPROACH TO EXTEND THE HIGH TEMPERATURE PERFORMANCE OF LITHIUM COMPLEX GREASES IN ROLLING BEARINGS
The present disclosure provides a lithium complex grease with high-temperature resistivity and a method of making the same. The lithium complex grease includes: a lithium complex thickener, a friction modifier, a polymer or copolymer, and at least one synthetic base oil with alkylated naphthalene. The lithium complex grease can be substantially free of polytetrafluoroethylene. Furthermore, the lithium complex grease can have a median failure rate with via ball bearing test (e.g., using the FE9 grease life test method of DIN 51 821) performed at 160 C. of no less than 100 hours.
