PEN-LIKE SYRINGE DEVICE AND SYRINGE SYSTEM
A syringe device and a syringe system with a syringe device provides an ergonomic syringe device which enables safe operation and safe injection by using a pen-like syringe device having a drive housing, a syringe receptacle for receiving a syringe having a syringe body and a plunger guided therein, and a manually operable push button for activating an electrical delivery unit. The drive housing has a pressure supply unit for pneumatically actuating the plunger and a coupling connection for connection to an external supply unit. The pressure supply unit includes a drive channel which can be connected to the plunger of an inserted syringe. The syringe device has a vent channel connected to the drive channel and via an opening to the environment, the opening being closable by a finger when the push button is actuated.
Photodisruptive laser fragmentation of tissue
An ophthalmic laser surgical system includes a pulsed laser source configured to generate a pulsed laser beam, optics configured to direct the laser beam towards a target region in a lens of an eye, and a processor configured to control the optics to form a regular array of cells in the target region by creating layers of photodisrupted bubbles to generate cell boundaries. The layers are created by causing the optics to scan the pulsed laser according to a curvature of a focal plane of the optics to track a natural curvature of the lens.
MULTI-FUNCTION IRRIGATION-ASPIRATION TUBING FOR OCULAR SURGERY DEVICES
A device for ocular surgery includes a surgical handpiece including a power cord and an aspiration needle for removing ocular material from an eye, and co-extruded tubing. The tubing includes an aspiration tube for receiving the ocular material removed from the eye by the surgical handpiece, an irrigation tube integrally formed with the aspiration tube for supplying irrigation fluid to the surgical handpiece, and a ridge defined along at least a majority of a length of the co-extruded tubing, the ridge defining a groove for receiving the power cord of the surgical handpiece.
APPARATUS FOR SUBRETINAL INJECTION
An apparatus disclosed herein may include a housing, an injection line sub-assembly coupled to a distal end of the housing, a fluid selector coupled to the housing and movable between a first position and a second position, a drug container coupled to the housing and disposed between the fluid selector and the sub-assembly, and a drug container bypass line coupled to the housing and disposed between the fluid selector and the sub-assembly. When the fluid selector is in the first position, a first outlet of the fluid selector is in fluid communication with the drug container bypass line for injecting a fluid through the drug container bypass line and into the sub-assembly. When the fluid selector is in the second position, a second outlet of the fluid selector is in fluid communication with the drug container for injecting a drug from the drug container into the sub-assembly.
Illuminated vitrectomy cutter with adjustable illumination aperture
A vitrector that includes an adjustable illumination aperture is described. The vitrector may include a probe and a light sleeve assembly extending along and substantially surrounding the probe. The light sleeve assembly may include a plurality of optical fibers. At least a portion of the optical fibers are operable to provide illumination so as to define an illumination aperture about the vitrectomy probe. A portion of the optical fibers may be encapsulated. The light sleeve assembly may be adjustable along a length of the probe, providing adjustment of the illumination aperture to increase or decrease an area of illumination provided thereby.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR POST-OCCLUSION BREAK SURGE MITIGATION
A surgical cassette for an ophthalmic surgical system includes an irrigation system, an aspiration system, and a computer. The irrigation system is in fluid communication with a handpiece and carries fluid toward a surgical site. The aspiration system is in fluid communication with the handpiece via an aspiration conduit and carries fluid away from the surgical site. The computer instructs the aspiration system to vibrate fluid back and forth within the aspiration conduit to perform a priming procedure.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR POST-OCCLUSION BREAK SURGE MITIGATION
A surgical cassette for an ophthalmic surgical system includes an irrigation system and an aspiration system. The irrigation system is in fluid communication with a handpiece and carries fluid toward a surgical site. The aspiration system is in fluid communication with the handpiece and carries fluid away from the surgical site. The aspiration system includes an aspiration pump and tubing of an aspiration conduit. The aspiration pump generates a normal vacuum pressure within the aspiration conduit to carry fluid away from the surgical site during normal operation. The tubing has a larger cross-sectional area in response to normal vacuum pressure. The tubing collapses from the larger cross-sectional area to a smaller cross-sectional area in response to an occlusion; maintains the smaller cross-sectional area during a post-occlusion break surge to mitigate the post-occlusion break surge; and returns to the larger cross-sectional area after the post-occlusion break surge.
INTRAOCULAR DEVICE FOR DUAL INCISIONS
A microsurgical device and methods of its use can be used for treatment of various conditions including eye diseases, such as glaucoma, using minimally invasive surgical techniques. A device can be used for cutting the trabecular meshwork (“TM”) in the eye. The device tip provides entry into the Schlemm’s canal via its size (i.e., for example, 0.2-0.3 mm width) and configuration where a ramp elevates the TM away from the outer wall of the Schlemm’s canal and guides the TM to first and second lateral elements for creating first and second incisions through the TM. The dimensions and configuration of the device is such that an entire strip of TM is removed without leaving TM leaflets behind and without causing collateral damage to adjacent tissues.
SYSTEMS AND METHOD FOR SMART PHACO IN SURGICAL SYSTEMS
A smart automated phacoemulsification surgical system for reducing variables significantly by introducing a relationship among related variables that share the same functionalities or where they depend on each other. The system optimizes power applied and and when the power reaches its maximum targeted value while the occlusion persists for an extended period of time. An automatic venting subsystem is configured to release cataract particles from the tip of the surgical instrument. An ultrasound power setting is configured to be reset to overcome power and occlusion stagnation in order to prevent applying too much ultrasound power and harming the eye tissues of a patient.
Ocular delivery systems and methods
Described here are systems and methods for accessing Schlemm's canal and for delivering an ocular device or fluid composition therein. The ocular devices may maintain the patency of Schlemm's canal without substantially interfering with transmural fluid flow across the canal. The fluid composition may be a viscoelastic fluid that is delivered into the canal to facilitate drainage of aqueous humor by disrupting the canal and surrounding trabeculocanalicular tissues. Tools for disrupting these tissues and minimally invasive methods for treating medical conditions associated with elevated intraocular pressure, including glaucoma, are also described.
