Surgical foot pedal device having force feedback
11617682 · 2023-04-04 · ·

A foot pedal device configured to provide force feedback to an operator during ophthalmic surgery is described. The foot pedal device includes a processor and a memory containing instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to transmit, in response to a movement of a moveable member, a control signal to a surgical console for initiating an action of an ophthalmic surgery tool coupled with the surgical console. The foot pedal device includes a force feedback mechanism configured to selectively apply a resistance force in opposition to the movement of the movable member. The memory contains instructions which, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive, from the surgical console, a trigger signal, and send a force feedback signal to the force feedback mechanism. The force feedback mechanism is configured to apply the resistance force to the movable member upon receiving the force feedback signal.

APPARATUS, SYSTEM, AND METHOD OF GAS INFUSION TO ALLOW FOR PRESSURE CONTROL OF IRRIGATION IN A SURGICAL SYSTEM
20220313488 · 2022-10-06 ·

An apparatus, system and method of controlling the flow rate of an irrigation fluid. The apparatus, system and method include modifying a pressure gravitationally above the irrigation fluid in a fluid reservoir to increase the flow rate through a surgical pack by iteratively controlling infusion of gas to the fluid reservoir. The iteratively controlling comprises sensing an in-range response to said modifying, wherein the infusion of gas is enabled; and sensing an out-of-range response to said modifying. If, based on prior ones of said modifying: the out-of-range response poses no danger to a patient, the infusion of gas is enabled; the out-of-range response poses a substantial danger to the patient, the infusion of gas is disabled; or the out-of-range response poses no substantial danger to the patient, the iteratively controlling comprises applying a successive series of modifications to correct the out-of-range response.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR WIDE ANGLE CHANDELIER ILLUMINATOR

An instrument to facilitate hands-free illumination of an eye for a surgical procedure. The instrument includes an optical end of unique architecture and surfacing such that the instrument may be left immobile while sufficiently illuminating an eye interior with greater than 100° of wide beam spread angle provided. Further, the grind surfacing provided to the end cone of the optical end provides enhanced light distribution.

SURGICAL APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING MICROSURGERY INCLUDING A MULTIFUNCTIONAL INTRAOCULAR PICK/DISSECTOR
20230149212 · 2023-05-18 ·

Surgical apparatus for performing a microsurgery including a cannula having an intraocular portion. The intraocular portion connects to an infusion tube. The intraocular portion includes fenestrations at its distal end. The intraocular portion receives fluid through the infusion tube and dispenses the fluid through the fenestrations lessening the flow at an infusion site in an eye. The surgical apparatus includes a vitreous cutter. The vitreous cutter includes a suction tube at one end and a shaft at another end. The cutting port cuts vitreous into smaller pieces or a laser that liquefies the vitreous. The shaft receives the cut vitreous pieces and the suction tube draws out the cut vitreous pieces from the eye. The surgical apparatus includes a vitreoretinal surgical tool having a vitreoretinal cutter. The vitreoretinal cutter has a scissor-like or forceps-like mechanism. The vitreoretinal cutter holds and/or cuts a membrane in the eye during the microsurgery.

Device for suctioning bodily fluids and for supplying a substance
11644026 · 2023-05-09 · ·

A device for aspirating body fluids and for supplying a substance to a human or animal body is defined. The device comprises a first pump (8) for the aspiration of the body fluids, and a second pump (3), or a coupling element (76′) for connecting a second pump (3′) in order to convey the substance to the body by means of the second pump (3, 3′). Moreover, the device comprises a drive (70, 70′) for driving the first pump (8). The same drive (70, 70′) which serves to drive the first pump (8) also serves to drive the second pump (3, 3′).

Systems and methods for optimizing the application of pulse width modulation (PWM) in a voltage signal for delivering a current in a valve used to alternatively deliver pressurized gas to and vent from chambers in a vitrectomy probe used to drive a cutter.

AGENT TO BE USED IN INTRAOCULAR MEMBRANE DETACHMENT SURGERY

An object of the present invention is to find a useful means for removing an intraocular membrane. The present invention relates to an agent for use in intraocular membrane peeling surgery, which contains a solution containing a hydrogel-forming material and satisfies the following formula 1 with respect to the dynamic viscoelasticity measured at a temperature of 25 to 40° C. and a frequency of 1 Hz.

0<V.sub.max≤3  (Formula 1)

Provided that in the formula 1, V.sub.max (Pa/sec) is the maximum change rate of the storage elastic modulus after the initiation of gelation.
