Surgical cavity drainage and closure system
A surgical drain device includes a matrix of biodegradable polymer material and a plurality of drain tubes attached to the matrix. The device is implanted within a surgical wound to treat the presence of seromas, for example, and is used to promote drainage, tissue adhesion, and wound closure. The drain tubes converge into a common collection tube that leads wound fluid outside the body under gravity feed or negative pressure applied to the collection tube. The matrix contains an array of apertures that allow tissue contact across the device. A preferred embodiment comprises a tissue anchoring system including anchor elements such as hooks or barbs. The device can be used with a negative pressure system to further improve the drainage band can also be used with a wound dressing. The device and systems containing the device are particularly useful to promote the healing of surgical wounds from abdominal surgery.
Compositions With Reactive Ingredients, And Wound Dressings, Apparatuses, And Methods
Wound dressings and wound inserts comprising substantially dry reactive agents, methods of forming wound inserts comprising dry reactive agents, and wound-treatment methods.
PERCUTANEOUS ABSORPTION AGENT DELIVERY DEVICE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR
A percutaneous absorption agent delivery device with: a solvent-impermeable cover film that has a first layer and a second layer, which are integrally continuous via a first fold and are superimposed, a non-seal region and a seal region are formed between the first layer and the second layer, the non-seal region disposed along the first fold, the seal region to surround the outer peripheral section of the non-seal region except for the section along the first fold, and an endless cut portion forming the non-seal region formed in the cover film; a percutaneous absorption agent carrying member is disposed in the non-seal region between the first layer and the second layer, and fixed to the cover film on the inner side of the cut portion; and an adhesive sheet that is detachably affixed to the outer surface of the cover film.
Compositions with reactive ingredients, and wound dressings, apparatuses, and methods
Wound dressings and wound inserts comprising substantially dry reactive agents, methods of forming wound inserts comprising dry reactive agents, and wound-treatment methods.
Preparation of occlusive dressings
A method of preparing an occlusive wound dressing involves preparing a slurry of an occlusive composition with a hydrophobic compound and a bacteriostatic agent, applying the occlusive composition on a fabric to produce a coated fabric, disposing the coated fabric in packaging, adding water onto at least one of the coated fabric and the packaging, sealing the packaging containing the coated fabric, and irradiating the sealed package to sterilize and produce the occlusive wound dressing. The occlusive wound dressing has from about 60 wt % to about 75 wt % hydrophobic compound, from about 2 wt % to about 5 wt % bacteriostatic agent, from about 2 wt % to about 5 wt % water, and from about 5 wt % to about 36 wt % fabric.
WOUND COVERING APPARATUS
The present disclosure relates to apparatus for covering a burn or other wound in ways that prevent or limit touching the wound. The present disclosure describes Burn Bandages that may include domes or structures that bridge over a wide range of a burn or wound size. In certain instances these structures may expand in one or more directions as they are adjusted to fit to a particular burn or wound size. Such bridging structures may include airways, openings, or voids that promote air/oxygen flow to the wound as the Burn Bandage sits upon surfaces or pads that contact healthy surrounding tissue while they cover a wound site. The apparatus may be any shape including, yet not limited to, a circle, a rectangle, a square, a hexagon, an octagon, an oval, a cone, a cylinder, have a semi-cylindrical shape, or that have any another geometric shape.
Wound care product
A wound care product is provided. It comprises a sealed chamber in which a wound care article is arranged around a support member in such a manner that a curved portion of the wound care article is in contact with the support member. The curved portion interconnects two other portions on opposite sides of the support member.
PROTECTIVE PACKAGING STRUCTURE FOR COMPRESSIBLE MATERIALS
A more robust packaging structure for maintaining the integrity of compressible biologically active materials during storage and especially during transportation is provided. These containers protect the materials from shock, vibration, deformation, or separation from agitation. The compressible materials may be in the form of synthetic fibers, and may include a composite of fibers and beads or granules. Suitable materials that may benefit from such a robust packaging structure include synthetic materials that comprise a biologically active ceramic or glass.
PACKAGING FOR A MEDICAL PRODUCT
The present invention relates to a reel for a plaster strip roll with one or two side discs and/or a cover/protective ring for a plaster strip roll, which optionally has a tear-off edge, as well as the production thereof. The reel or the cover/protective ring, respectively, comprises an antimicrobially effective substance, wherein, on the outer surface of the reel or of the cover/protective ring, respectively, there is contact between the antimicrobially effective substance and the environment.
PORTABLE PHLEBOTOMY KIT
Described herein are various systems, methods, apparatuses, and kits for phlebotomy. In certain embodiments, the phlebotomy kit or system includes a blood collection tube, a needle assembly, a holder for the blood collection tube, a bandage, a tourniquet, a wipe, and an absorbent pad. The disclosed systems, methods, apparatuses, and kits are useful for collecting a single small volume of blood, and collecting of a small volume of blood at remote non-hospital environments.
