A system for monitoring a wound includes a wound dressing configured to cover a wound surface of the wound, one or more sensing devices attached to the wound dressing, a network interface hardware, and a controller. The controller includes one or more processors, and one or more memory modules storing computer readable and executable instructions. The controller receives data measured by the one or more sensing devices, determines whether an infection is likely to occur based on the data measured by the one or more sensing devices, and outputs an alert, through the network interface hardware, in response to determining that the infection is likely to occur.
DISPOSABLE WOUND BANDAGE WITH ADHESIVE FOR ADMINISTERING LIGHT THERAPY
A wound bandage for administering light therapy is provided. The wound bandage may comprise a coated disposable flexible circuit. The disposable flexible circuit may comprise a set of plastic light-emitting diodes (LEDs). The disposable flexible circuit may be perforated and the set of LEDs may comprise at least one LED configured to emit light with a wavelength. The wound bandage may comprise a medical-grade adhesive disposed on a surface of the wound bandage. The adhesive may be configured to attach the wound bandage to a user's skin and maintain the wound bandage in a desired area. The wound bandage may comprise a socket configured to receive a connector coupled to an external control unit. The socket may transmit a control signal from the control unit to the set of LEDs and the control signal may pulse the set of LEDs at a frequency and a duty cycle.
Medical dressing
A medical dressing for prevention of pressure ulcers is described. The dressing has a backing layer, a pad, and a body contact layer, wherein the pad is arranged between the backing layer and the body contact layer. The body contact layer has an adhesive skin contact layer and an anisotropic layer having a first (x) direction and a second (y) direction perpendicular to the first (x) direction. The anisotropic layer is stiffer in the second (y) direction than in the first (x) direction. The dressing reduces shear and compression forces on the skin and in the underlying soft tissue layers and prevents the onset of pressure ulcers.
Fibrin composition, method and wound articles
A method of forming a fibrin hydrogel composition is described. The method comprises forming an aqueous solution comprising fibrinogen, fibrin-forming enzyme, and a fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt concentration is greater than or equal to the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. The method further comprises reducing the salt concentration below the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. In some embodiments, the aqueous solution further comprises a plasticizer. A fibrin composition is also described comprising a fibrin hydrogel having a fibrin concentration ranging from 0.1 to 10 wt-%; and a fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt has a concentration less than a threshold concentration to form the fibrin hydrogel. The fibrin hydrogel or dehydrated fibrin hydrogel can be in various physical forms such a sheet, foam, or plurality of pieces. Also described are methods of forming a fibrin article, wound dressings and a method of treatment of a wound.
CHOKING PROOF PEEL RESISTANT ADHESIVE BANDAGES PLACED ON BABIES AFTER BLOOD TESTS OR VACCINATIONS
An adhesive bandage is provided which has at least four arms instead of standard two where two of which being of a different length than other two to resist its removal from skin by a baby. The adhesive bandage includes a first and a second bandage arms and a third and a fourth bandage arms. The first and second bandage arms are transverse to the third and fourth bandage arms. The first and second bandage arms are longer in length to the third and fourth bandage arms. The adhesive bandage further includes a medicated pad at an intersection of the first and second bandage arms and the third and fourth bandage arms. In one embodiment, the new bandage includes an adhesive strip and a clip such that the adhesive strip is looped through the clip. In another embodiment, the new bandage includes an adhesive strip and a Velcro strap such that the adhesive strip is looped through the Velcro strap.
