WOUND AND BANDAGE PROTECTION SYSTEM AND METHOD
A wound/bandage protector configured as a wrap, a sock/mitten, or a bandage may be made out of stretchable material. The wrap may have one or more fastening straps as well as possibly a first catch fastening surface. The sock/mitten may have a fastening strap and a sheath. The wrap, the sock/mitten, and the bandages may have apertures and aperture covers. In addition, the wound/bandage protectors as well as the bandages may have diamond or triangular gauze configurations with the gauze pad having three or four primary corners, the primary corners of the gauze pad in most instances being oriented towards edges of the body portion or length or width tangents of the body portion, preferably mid-points or mid-sections of the length or width tangents or body portion edges.
Viscoelastic medical article
A medical article and methods of using same. The medical article can include a machine direction (MD) and a cross-machine direction (CMD); a support layer; and a viscoelastic layer. The viscoelastic layer can be coupled to the support layer, and the viscoelastic layer can be discontinuous in the MD and/or the CMD. The viscoelastic layer can recover at least 70% of its deformation after 48 hours at room temperature after being strained to 50% elongation, such that the medical article has a first tensile stiffness T.sub.1 at a first strain rate S.sub.1, and a second tensile stiffness T.sub.1 at a second strain rate S.sub.1. The ratio of S.sub.1/S.sub.2 can be at least 100, and the ratio of T.sub.1/T.sub.2 can be at least 1.5. The method can include wrapping the medical article around a body part; applying the first strain rate S.sub.1; and applying the second strain rate S.sub.2.
Surgical recovery
A surgical recovery process for improving the adhesion of the skin to substrate after procedures such as liposuction. A kinetic tape is adhered outside of the surgical area and then stretched along a midline of the abdomen over the rectus abdominis muscles and then adhered to the skin to pull the skin into a better position for healing. Additional segments of kinetic tape are similarly anchored to the skin outside of the surgical area to pull skin over the side muscles of the abdomen. The kinetic tape remains applied for a period of days and may optionally be reapplied to be continually refined the healing process.
MEDICAL DRESSING SYSTEM
A bandaging system relating to assisting improved wound compression, wound stability, and wound-management of wound sites and other wound care.
Precut adhesive body support articles and support system
The invention provides an adhesive support article for supporting a body part of a user. A single-sided stretchable adhesive tape blank is precut into a sheet having a central anchoring portion and a plurality of outwardly extending fingers. The sheet is marked with visual indicators to guide the user of the support article for applying the central anchoring portion onto a first exterior surface of the body part and for stretching the fingers before adhering them at a predetermined distance away from the central anchoring portion. The adhesive support article can also be provided in a support system with at least one corresponding body landmark article, providing further guidance for applying the support article to the desired body part.
REHABILITATIVE TAPE SPLITTER AND METHOD OF USING THE SAME
A hand-held and operated device for splitting rehabilitative elastic tape into segments and rounding corners of the rehabilitative elastic tape segments and method of use is disclosed. The device comprises a feed roll of rehabilitative elastic tape, and a housing. The housing is comprised of a vertical cutting mechanism and a cutting die punch mechanism operably coupled in tandem. There are a plurality of actuator buttons operably coupled to and aligned with the blades for setting the blades to either a cutting position or a non-cutting position. The cutting die punch mechanism is comprised of a pair of mating tools, a die punch and a cutting die. The die punch is adapted to be moved into the cutting die by hand and attain the closest possible mating of said members for cutting or forming the rounded corners of a tape segment when the tape is fed into the punching mechanism.
Electric Bandage for Accelerated Wound Recovery
A wearable medical bandage is provided having an energy harvesting generator that harvests mechanical energy from the user's natural body and muscle motions to produce electrical energy. The electrical energy induces an electric potential across the wound opening producing accelerated skin wound recovery under the voltage fluctuations produced by the power generator.
ANIMAL BANDAGE WRAP INCLUDING AN ANTIMICROBIAL COATING
A wrap for a non-human animal comprises: a wrap for a non-human animal comprises: an elastic portion; an exterior surface; and an antimicrobial coating applied to the exterior surface. The antimicrobial coating includes a silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof. The exterior surface can adhere to itself. The elastic portion can comprise natural rubber. The silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof is one or more of: 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium ion, 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride, 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium ion, or 3-(trihydroxysilyl)propyldimethyloctadecyl ammonium chloride. The antimicrobial coating applied to the exterior surface imparts antimicrobial properties onto the wrap. The antimicrobial coating can be applied to the wrap by applying a solution that includes the silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof to the exterior surface. The silane quaternary ammonium ion or salt thereof can be between 0.1 percent and 10 percent by weight of the solution.
Medical dressing systems
A bandaging system relating to assisting improved wound compression, wound stability, and wound-management of wound sites and other wound care.
Device for the application of surgical materials to tissue
The invention relates to a device comprising a surgical material and a support material and related methods for the application of the surgical material to a wound or surgical site using the device.
