DIMENSIONALLY STABLE, WIPE-ON, SEMI-CRYSTALLINE-POLYESTER-BASED ADHESIVE COMPOUND
The present invention relates to a dimensionally stable adhesive compound which is formulated so as to be largely water- and solvent-free and can be brought into contact with the substrate to be bonded by being wiped on in the form of a thin adhesive film that is suitable in particular for bonding materials obtained from plant fibers. The organic constituent of the adhesive compound according to the invention consists predominantly of polyester polyurethanes, at least some of which are based on semi-crystalline polyester polyols. The invention also relates to a method for applying a tacky film to a planar substrate, preferably to paper, by wiping the adhesive compound onto the point of contact with the substrate.
DIMENSIONALLY STABLE, WIPE-ON, MODIFIED-POLYETHER-POLYURETHANE-BASED ADHESIVE COMPOUND
The organic constituent of the adhesive compound according to the invention consists predominantly of a mixture of polyether polyurethanes which are end-capped with at least two monohydric aliphatic alcohols of different chain lengths. The invention also relates to a method for applying a tacky film to a planar substrate, preferably to paper, by wiping the adhesive compound onto the point of contact with the substrate.
Alternative crosslinking mechanisms for polyurethane-based systems
The present invention provides compositions comprising the reaction product of an aliphatic diisocyanate, and a reactive intermediate made from one selected from the group consisting of oxazolidinones, benzoic sulfimides (saccharins), 1H-indole-2,3-diones (isatins), succinamides, N-hydroxysuccinamides, 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehydes (vanillins), α-ketoamides, piperazines, benzofuranones, 3,4-dihydroxycyclobut-3-ene-1,2-diones (squaric acids), squaric acid esters, α-ketoamides, anilines, and α-ketoamide, phenols. The aliphatic diisocyanate comprises one selected from the group consisting of isocyanurates, biurets, iminooxadiazine diones, urethanes, uretdiones, carbodiimides, and allophanates. The resulting compositions may be useful in producing coatings, adhesives, sealants, castings, composites and films having durability, color stability, high gloss, and chemical resistance properties similar to those made from polyurethane.
