Low profile intervertebral implant

The present invention is directed to a low profile intervertebral implant for implantation in an intervertebral disc space in-between adjacent vertebral bodies. The intervertebral implant includes a plate preferably coupled to a spacer. The plate is preferably formed from a first material and the spacer is preferably formed from a second material, the first material being different from the second material. The plate is preferably sized and configured so that the plate does not extend beyond the perimeter of the spacer. In this manner, the plate preferably does not increase the height profile of the spacer and the plate may be implanted within the intervertebral disc space in conjunction with the spacer.

Spinal implant with attachment system

The embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a spinal implant assembly having features to prevent or minimize fixation elements, such as screws, from being dislodged, or from backing out over time and with use. The spinal implant assembly may comprise an implantable body having first apertures for receiving fixation elements. A plate configured to nest against the posterior portion of the implantable body and comprising one or more second apertures can be provided. These second apertures permit access to the head portions of the fixation elements. One or more locking elements are then passed through the second apertures and engage the head portions of the fixation elements. In addition, the plate may comprise an adjustable arm to allow the plate to be used with implantable bodies of different size.

IMPLANTABLE DEVICES AND METHODS TO TREAT BENIGN PROSTATE HYPERPLASIA (BPH) AND ASSOCIATED LOWER URINARY TRACT SYMPTOMS (LUTS)

The invention is devices and methods to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms infections (LUTS). The devices are intra-urethral implants placed in a patient in need thereof by minimally invasive procedures, preferably under local anesthesia in an office environment. The devices are sized and designed for atraumatic insertion and expansion within the urethra to engage and retract enlarged prostatic tissue proximate to the urethra that is leading to adverse symptoms associated with BPH. The methods include steps to deploy the implant devices of the invention using a delivery system of the invention and at target prostatic tissue that is visualized during the procedure and yields a reduction in the symptoms of BPH.

Expandable interbody spacer

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to devices and methods for treating one or more damaged, diseased, or traumatized portions of the spine, including intervertebral discs, to reduce or eliminate associated back pain. In one or more embodiments, the present disclosure relates to an expandable interbody spacer. The expandable interbody spacer may comprise a first jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The expandable interbody spacer further may comprise a second jointed arm comprising a plurality of links pivotally coupled end to end. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a proximal end of the expandable interbody spacer. The first jointed arm and the second jointed arm may be interconnected at a distal end of the expandable interbody spacer.

This disclosure provides for a medical device to be implanted in the vasculature and a method for treatment in the vasculature. The device has an outer layer of a first material and an inner layer of a second material attached to the outer layer. The inner layer further has a plurality of elastomeric tensioners. If the device experiences relaxation, resulting in a decreased radial force against the vessel wall, the elastomeric tensioners may provide a contraction force to the inner layer and the outer layer, resulting in a maintained radial force on the vessel wall.

Interbody vertebral prosthetic and orthopedic fusion device with self-deploying anchors

An intervertebral prosthesis includes a body having first and second spaced apart major surfaces defining a longitudinal axis; a first aperture opening at one of the first and second major surfaces; a first anchoring element including a shaft having proximal and distal ends; a translator element coupled to the proximal end of the first anchoring element and having an engagement element that is releasibly engageable with a distal end of an external shaft element that enters the body through an aperture. The shaft element applies forces to the translator to: (i) move along a longitudinal axis within the body, (ii) translate the proximal end of the first anchoring element parallel to the longitudinal axis, and (iii) push the first anchoring element out through the first aperture.

CONICAL VEIN FILTER WITH IMPROVED BALANCE

Disclosed herein is a removable vena cava filter for capturing thrombi in a blood vessel. The filter includes a plurality of primary struts having first ends attached together at their first ends. The filter also includes a plurality of secondary struts spaced between the primary struts and having third ends attached together along the longitudinal axis. Each secondary strut freely extends from the third end to a fourth end avoiding contact with other secondary struts and primary struts. The filter has an expanded configuration, in which the second arcs of the plurality of secondary struts may define a cavity having a hemiovoid shape, such that an ovoid formed from a reflection of the hemiovoid shape of the cavity does not extend beyond the end boundary of the filter defined by the second ends of the primary struts.

A calcium phosphate monetite cement-forming composition comprises a monetite-forming calcium-based precursor powder and from 3 to 30 wt %, based on the weight of the precursor powder, of dicalcium pyrophosphate powder. Monetite cements formed form such compositions may be used in implants for correcting bone defects. Methods for bone defect repair employ implants formed from such monetite cements and slow implant resorption and/or improve in vivo bone induction in a patient.
