Method for manufacturing artificial leather

An object to be achieved by the present invention is to provide a method for producing an artificial leather on a practically usable level without using an organic solvent and without requiring a crosslinking step for a crosslinking agent. The present invention provides a method for producing an artificial leather having a cured product layer of a moisture-curing urethane hot-melt resin composition, wherein the moisture-curing urethane hot-melt resin composition contains a urethane prepolymer having an isocyanate group and does not contain a crosslinking agent having a hydroxyl group and/or an amino group, the method including applying the moisture-curing urethane hot-melt resin composition to a substrate at a coating weight of 0.03 to 0.5 kg/m.sup.2 so as to form a cured product layer of the moisture-curing urethane hot-melt resin composition.

A thermoplastic polyurethane resin suitable for melt spinning is formed from a reaction mixture via a polymerization reaction. The reaction mixture includes an isocyanate component and a polyol component. The polyol component includes a first polyol that has a first number average molecular weight and a second polyol that has a second number average molecular weight. The first number average molecular weight is between 1,000 g/mol and 1,500 g/mol, and the second number average molecular weight is between 2,500 g/mol and 3,000 g/mol. One resin component formed by the first polyol via the polymerization reaction is defined as a low melting point segment and correspondingly has a first melting point between 170° C. and 185° C. Another resin component formed by the second polyol via the polymerization reaction is defined as a high melting point segment and correspondingly has a second melting point between 195° C. and 210° C.

The diisocyanate has an aromatic ring in a molecule. When a molecule of the polyurethane is ionized with a mass spectrometer of a direct sample injection system, then obtained M1, M2 and M3 satisfy the following relation: M2/M1 is 0.001 to 0.028, M3/M1 is 0.020 to 0.110, and M2/M3 is 0.013 to 0.300, and a concentration of the polyfunctional alcohol in the polyurethane is 0.12 mmol/g to 0.65 mmol/g.
