The present invention relates to a method for producing a cured composition, which has at least one oxazolidinone ring and at least one isocyanurate ring and is crosslinked thereby, starting from a liquid reaction mixture comprising: (a) at least one liquid, aromatic epoxy resin; (b) at least one liquid, aromatic polyisocyanate; and (c) a catalyst composition; relative to the at least one polyisocyanate, the at least one epoxy resin is used in amounts such that the molar equivalent ratio of epoxide groups to isocyanate groups is at least 0.4; and curing the reaction mixture to give a cured polymer composition comprising at least one oxazolidinone ring and at least one isocyanurate ring, and also to the cured compositions obtainable by these methods.

An isocyanate polymerization catalyst, a preparation method thereof and a method for preparing polyisocyanates comprising isocyanurate groups by using the same. The catalyst is a carboxylic acid salt containing a di-quaternary ammonium ion. The structure of the catalyst contains hydroxyl-containing aromatic heterocyclic residues. The catalyst is highly active. Only a small quantity of the catalyst is required for the polymerization of isocyanates. The prepared polyisocyanates have color values lower than 25 Hazen, monomer contents of less than 0.5% by weight, high contents of isocyanurates and low viscosities.

The present invention relates to the field of polyol components suitable for forming polyurethane foam, in particular two component polyurethane foam the resulting foams and methods for their production. The present inventors found gaseous hydrohaloolefin containing polyol components possessing improved shelf-life properties, in particular polyol components comprising a gaseous hydrohaloolefin blowing agent, a nitrogen catalyst and a tin catalyst, wherein the tin catalyst comprises a sulfur atom. The present inventors also found that the shelf-life is further improved if the nitrogen catalyst is at least partially protonated by reaction with an acid, such as an organic acid.

The present disclosure relates to a polyurethane foam composition, comprising (A) a polyol component, comprising one or more polyols selected from the group consisting of a polyester polyol, a polyether polyol, and the combination thereof, wherein the one or more polyols have an average hydroxyl group functionality of from 3 to 7 and an average hydroxyl group number of from 300 to 1000 mg KOH/g; and (B) an isocyanate component, comprising one or more isocyanate compounds; wherein in either or both of the (A) polyol component and the (B) isocyanate component, the polyurethane foam composition further comprises one or more flame retardants in an amount of no more than 15 percent by weight based on the total weight of the polyurethane foam composition, and, one or more blowing agents; and wherein the NCO/OH ratio of the isocyanate component to the polyol component is within the range of from 0.5:1 to 5:1. The present disclosure further relates to a method for potting a battery by using the polyurethane foam composition.

Polyurethane/polyisocyanurate foam insulation described herein is derived from a composition that contains an organic polyisocyanate, an isocyanate reactive material containing at least about 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of an aromatic polyester polyol, a hydrocarbon blowing agent, a first catalyst selected from the group consisting of a carboxylate salt of an alkali metal, a carboxylate salt of an alkaline earth metal, a carboxylate salt of a quaternary ammonium, and combinations thereof, and a second catalyst comprising a non-reactive tertiary amine, wherein a molar ratio of the first catalyst to the second catalyst is less than about 1.25, the composition gels quickly, and the composition has an isocyanate index greater than about 175. Such an insulating foam has a ratio of thermal conductivity at 75 F. to thermal conductivity at 25 F. between about 0.98 and about 1.10.
