BIO-RENEWABLE POLYURETHANE FOAM FOR CONSUMER CLEANING APPLICATIONS
Disclosed is a polyurethane foam and a method of preparing the same which utilizes only bio-renewable polyols and no petroleum derived polyols. The polyol is derived from a bio-renewable source and has a bio-renewable content of at least 70% by weight. The produced foams have mechanical and performance properties that are equal to or exceed those of similar polyurethane foams produced using petroleum derived polyols. The foams are preferably formed into sponges and other cleaning products for use by consumers and in industrial settings.
Biomaterial-based UV coating composition
The present invention relates to a UV coating composition, and more particularly, to an environmentally friendly biomaterial-based UV coating composition having physical properties equal or superior to those of conventional petrochemical-based UV coating compositions.
POLYESTER PREPOLYMERS AS IMPACT MODIFIERS IN EPOXY FORMULATIONS
What is described is a polymer which is a polyurethane polymer having blocked isocyanate groups or a reaction product of said polyurethane polymer with at least one epoxy resin, where the polyurethane polymer having blocked isocyanate groups is an addition product formed from at least one polyisocyanate and at least one polyester polyol, wherein the isocyanate groups of the addition product have been blocked by reaction with at least one aromatic compound having at least one hydroxyl group. Such a polymer is suitable as an impact modifier in epoxy resin compositions, especially when they are used as adhesives or structural foams. The polymer improves the corrosion resistance and vertical expansion of the epoxy resin composition.
ADHESIVE AGENT AND ADHESIVE SHEET
An adhesive agent produced by crosslinking an adhesive agent composition containing a polyester resin (i) having a structural portion derived from a polycarboxylic acid compound (a) and a structural portion derived from a polyol component (b), wherein the polyester resin (i) contains a structural portion derived from at least one selected from the group consisting of a dimer acid compound, a sebacic acid compound, and a dimer diol in a proportion of not less than 60 wt. % based on the weight of the polyester resin (i), wherein the polyol component (b) includes a glycol (b1) having an even carbon number (excluding the dimer diol), wherein the polyester resin (i) has an ester group concentration of not less than 2 mmol/g. The adhesive agent has an adhesive force (α) of not less than 1 N/25 mm as measured under predetermined conditions.
Urea-group- and/or urethane-group-containing amides as and in rheology control agents, their preparation and their use
The invention relates to urea- and/or urethane-substituted amides of the general formula (I) ##STR00001##
The radicals R1, Z1, R2, and Z2 comprise a building block containing urea groups and/or containing urethane groups; the radicals R4, Z4, R5, and Z5 comprise a building block containing amide groups, and E is a carboxylic acid group or salt thereof. The invention also relates to rheology control agents which consist of or comprise the amides of the formula (I). A further subject of the invention is a method for producing the rheology control agents, and the use of the urea- and/or urethane-substituted amides, and also of the rheology control agents, as thickeners, especially in liquid compositions, and also the liquid compositions themselves.
Method of forming a multi-layer paint film
A method of forming multi-layer paint films comprises forming a first base paint film, wherein an aqueous first base paint (A) is coated over an object; forming a second base paint film wherein a second aqueous base paint (B) is coated over the uncured first base paint film; forming a clear paint film wherein a clear paint (C) is coated over the uncured second based paint film; and heating and curing the first base paint film, the second base paint film, and the clear paint film at the same time and in which the aqueous first base paint (A) includes as the base resin a water-soluble or water-dispersible acrylic resin (A1) and one or more type of water-soluble or water-dispersible resin (A2), selected from among the polyester resins, polyurethane resins and acrylic-urethane resins, both (A1) and (A2) having a weight average molecular weight of from 10,000 to 100,000.
Polyurethanes
The present invention relates to a polyurethane which is the reaction product of a polyisocyanate and polyester, wherein said polyester is formed from a dimer fatty acid, a C.sub.2 to C.sub.4 diol, and a C.sub.8 to C.sub.16 dicarboxylic acid or C.sub.6 to C.sub.12 lactide. The inventions also relates to a polyester for use in forming the polyurethane of the first aspect, said polyester formed from a dimer fatty acid, a C.sub.2 to C.sub.4 diol, and a C.sub.8 to C.sub.16 dicarboxylic acid or C.sub.6 to C.sub.12 lactide.
