Fuel composition
A fuel composition for powering a combustion engine, the composition comprising: a liquid base fuel; and a (co)polymer obtainable by (co)polymerizing at least the following monomers: •at least one bicyclic (meth)acrylate ester •optionally at least one lower-alkyl (meth)acrylate, •optionally at least one aromatic vinyl monomer, and •optionally other ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
Polyacrylate antifoam components for use in diesel fuels
There is disclosed an antifoam component which includes at least one poly(acrylate) copolymer for use in a diesel fuel. Poly(acrylate) polymers prepared by polymerizing a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C.sub.1 to C.sub.30 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“multifunctional monomer”) are also disclosed. Other poly(acrylate) polymers prepared by polymerizing (i) a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C.sub.1 to C.sub.4 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“solubility monomer”); (ii) a (meth)acrylate monomer comprising C.sub.5 to C.sub.12 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“surface tension monomer”); and (iii) optionally at least one additional monomer comprising a solubility monomer, a surface tension monomer, a monomer comprising C.sub.1 to C.sub.30 alkyl esters of (meth)acrylic acid (“multifunctional monomer”), or combinations thereof are also disclosed.
Copolymers of bicyclic (meth)acrylate and alkyl (meth)acrylate and their use as rheology modifiers in fuels
The invention relates to specific copolymers obtainable by co-polymerizing at least the following monomers: at least one bicyclic (meth)acrylate ester at least one lower-alkyl (meth)acrylate optionally, and preferably, at least one aromatic vinyl monomer; and optionally other ethylenically unsaturated monomers, whereby the copolymer has a weight averaged molecular weight of from 100,000 to 10,000,000 D, determined using GPC-MALS techniques for a solution in THF at 40° C., as well as to the way to synthesize such copolymers and the use of such polymers to modify the rheology of a liquid in which they are soluble.
FUEL COMPOSITION
A fuel composition for powering a combustion engine, the composition comprising a liquid base fuel; and a (co)polymer obtainable by (co)polymerizing at least the following monomers: one or more bicyclic (meth)acrylate esters (a); up to 15 wt % of styrene (b); optionally other ethylenically unsaturated monomers that are not monomer (a) or (b); up to a total of 100 wt %, wherein the weight percentages of the monomer are based on the total weight of all of the monomers.
Charged block co-polymers as pour point depressants
Fouling components within a fluid may be prevented from accumulating when an additive contacts the fluid, e.g. by coating the wellbore with the additive prior to the production of the fluid or adding the additive directly to the fluid, etc.. The additive may include, but is not limited to, a block copolymer having at least two components. The first component may be a charged monomer, and the second component may be a long chain fatty alcohol acrylate monomer. In one alternative embodiment, the fluid may be an oil-based fluid produced through a wellbore or an oil-based wellbore fluid, and the fouling components may be or include, but are not limited to, wax, paraffins, asphaltene, resins, and combinations thereof.
POLYMERS AS ADDITIVES FOR FUELS
A method minimizes power loss in a direct injection diesel engine by adding a copolymer to a diesel fuel composition. The copolymer contains, in a copolymerized form, (A) maleic anhydride, (B) an α-olefin having from 12 to 30 carbon atoms, (C) optionally an additional aliphatic or cycloaliphatic olefin which has at least 4 carbon atoms and is different from monomer (B), and (D) optionally an additional copolymerizable monomer other than monomers (A), (B) and (C). Monomer (D) can be a vinyl ester, a vinyl ether, a (meth)acrylic ester of an alcohol having at least 5 carbon atoms, an allyl alcohol or an ester thereof, a N-vinyl compound, an ethylenically unsaturated aromatic, an α,β-ethylenically unsaturated nitrile, a (meth)acrylamide, or an allylamine. Anhydride functionalities present in the copolymer are partly reacted with at least one compound (E) comprising an alcohol group and/or an amino group, and the anhydride functionalities present are hydrolyzed.
ASSOCIATIVE POLYMERS FOR MIST-CONTROL
Polymeric mist control materials, methods of forming polymeric mist control materials, and methods of using such materials for mist control are provided. The polymeric mist control additives are formed of molecules comprised predominantly of monomers that confer high solubility in fuel and include associative groups that attract each other in donor-acceptor manner, and are incorporated such that multiple associative groups are in close proximity (“clusters”), such that the clusters are separated by very long non-associative sequences.

A fuel composition for powering a combustion engine the composition comprising: a liquid base fuel; and a copolymer obtainable by copolymerizing at least the following monomers: —at least one bicyclic (meth)acrylate ester; —at least one fatty-alkyl (meth)acrylate; —optionally, and preferably, at least one aromatic vinyl monomer; and —optionally other ethylenically unsaturated monomers.
USE OF CROSSLINKED POLYMERS FOR LOWERING THE COLD FILTER PLUGGING POINT OF FUELS
The present invention concerns the use, for lowering the cold filter plugging point of a fuel composition, of one or more crosslinked polymers comprising at least one unit of the following formula (I): in which R.sub.1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; E represents —O—CO—, or —CO—O— or —NH—CO— or —CO—NH—; and G represents a C.sub.1 to C.sub.34 alkyl group; said copolymer having a crosslinking rate of between 0.5 mol % and 30 mol %. The invention also concerns additive compositions containing such a polymer, and fuel compositions with such polymers as additives, in combination with a cold flow improver (CFI) chosen from the copolymers and terpolymers of ethylene and vinyl and/or acrylic ester(s).

Polymers as additives for fuels
A method for minimizing power loss, reducing a fuel consumption and/or for reducing and/or avoiding deposits in a fuel system in the direct injection diesel engines. The method contains adding a copolymer to a fuel composition, wherein the copolymer contains, in a copolymerized form: (A) an ethylenically unsaturated mono- or dicarboxylic acid or a derivative thereof, (B) an -olefin having from 12 to 30 carbon atoms, (C) optionally an additional aliphatic or cycloaliphatic olefin which has at least 4 carbon atoms and is different from monomer (B) and (D) optionally an additional copolymerizable monomers other than monomers (A), (B) and (C), anhydride or carboxylic acid functionalities present in the copolymer are partly reacted with at least one compound (E) comprising an alcohol group and/or an amino group, and the anhydride functionalities present in the copolymer are hydrolysed and/or carboxylic ester functionalities present in the copolymer are partly hydrolyzed.
