WHEELCHAIR SYSTEMS WITH EMERGENCY STOP FEATURES
A wheelchair system comprises a wheelchair comprising a seat, one or more first sensors disposed on or within the seat, one or more second sensors configured to communicate with the one or more first sensors and configured to be associated with a user to determine if the user is falling out of the wheelchair, wherein, upon detection that the user is falling out of the wheelchair, the wheelchair is configured to automatically stop.
BRAKE SYSTEM FOR A PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS
A brake system for a patient support apparatus including at least one wheel is disclosed. The brake system comprises a braking mechanism to be operatively coupled to at least one wheel of the patient support apparatus. The braking mechanism includes a first coupling portion movable between a lock position for locking the corresponding wheel, and an unlock position for allowing rotation of the wheel. The brake system comprises an actuating tool comprising a second coupling portion complementary to the first coupling portion of the braking mechanism and allowing removably connecting the actuating tool to the braking mechanism of the patient support apparatus. The first and second coupling portions are adapted for allowing engagement between the braking mechanism and the actuating tool to urge the braking mechanism between the lock and unlock positions, and are further adapted for allowing disengagement of the actuating tool from the braking mechanism.
MECHANICAL WHEELCHAIR DRIVE AND WHEELCHAIR HAVING SUCH A MECHANICAL WHEELCHAIR
The invention relates to a mechanical wheelchair drive, comprising a rotatably mounted lever, a handle fastened to the lever, and a force transfer unit for transferring rotational motion of the lever to a wheelchair wheel, wherein the lever has a variable length and is guided along a closed guide of a guide plate, said guide deviating from the circular form, such that the length of the lever changes during the rotational motion.
WHEELCHAIR
A wheelchair comprises: an armrest bracket (6), a seat bracket, a backrest bracket (3), and a turning mechanism (64), wherein the turning mechanism (64) is configured to make the armrest bracket (6) and the seat bracket rotate synchronously relative to the backrest bracket (3).
MEDICAL SUPPORT APPARATUS
A medical chair includes a base, a seat section, and a leg rest pivotally mounted relative to the seat and adapted to move between an extended position and a retracted position. The chair further includes a scissor mechanism coupled to the leg rest to extend and contract the leg rest and an actuator mounted on one end relative to the seat section and having an extendible driving end coupled to the leg rest wherein when the extendible driving end extends the extendible driving end pivots the leg rest about the pivot axis and extends the scissor mechanism.
Medical support apparatus
A medical chair includes a base, a seat, and a leg rest pivotally mounted relative to the seat and adapted to move between an extended position and a retracted position. The chair further includes a first actuator for tilting the seat with respect to the base, a second actuator for lifting the seat with respect to the base, and a leg rest actuator adapted to move the leg rest. The chair also includes a controller adapted to control the first and second actuators to move the seat between a first position and a second position such that the seat is both lifted and tilted at the same time as the seat moves from the first position to the second position, and wherein the controller is adapted to control the leg rest actuator such that the leg rest maintains a substantially constant orientation with respect to the floor.
MOBILITY ENHANCEMENT WHEELCHAIR
A wheelchair includes a frame, a seat attached to the frame, a first forward wheel on a first side of the frame and a second forward wheel on a second side of the frame, a first rearward wheel on the first side of the frame and a second rearward wheel on the second side of the frame, a first drive wheel on the first side of the frame positioned intermediate between the first forward wheel and the first rearward wheel and a second drive wheel on the second side of the frame positioned intermediate between the second forward wheel and the second rearward wheel, and actuators to independently control the vertical position of the first forward wheel relative to the frame, the vertical position of the second forward wheel relative to the frame, the vertical position of the first rearward wheel relative to the frame, the vertical position of the second rearward wheel relative to the frame, the vertical position of the first drive wheel relative to the frame and the vertical position of the second drive wheel relative to the frame.
Powered wheelchair for beach terrain
A powered wheelchair for beach terrain is provided that includes a an occupant seat assembly mounted to a frame that has an electric drive system with a pair of electric motors mounted thereto. A hand grip support frame is coupled to a rear end of the frame. The electric drive system is drivingly coupled to at least two of a plurality of wheels rotatably mounted to the frame. The powered wheelchair includes a portable power source and a control system mounted to the main frame. The control system is electrically coupled to the portable power source and the electric drive system. The control system has a first set of operating controls disposed in proximity to the occupant seat assembly and a second set of operating controls disposed in proximity the hand grip support frame for switch selective operative control of the powered wheelchair.
Mobile chair apparatus comprising foot pedals
A mobile chair apparatus is described that comprises a drive assembly that preferably includes one or more moveable foot pedals, and drive wheels which rotate in response to rotation of the foot pedals by the mobile chair occupant, and a steering assembly which comprises two steering wheels and at least one tiller, configured such that forward and backward movement of said tiller will translate into movement of both steering wheels, wherein the drive assembly and the steering assembly concurrently enable the mobile chair occupant to propel and steer the mobile chair apparatus without assistance from another person.
