Patient lifter having interlocking design with intraoperative controlled temperature air delivery system
11400002 · 2022-08-02 · ·

A combination patient-transfer air-inflated pad and intraoperative heater device has first and second interlocking chambers laterally fused together. The air-inflated pad has a top surface and a bottom surface formed by way of the first and second interlocking chambers. The first interlocking chamber is formed as a comb-type structure having a main spine with two or more prongs alternately separated by valleys. The second interlocking chamber is a mirror comb-type structure to the first interlocking chamber. The device is fabricated from two thin layers of plastic material, selectively configured and fused. With this construction, the bulk of the device, as well as the cost of manufacture, are reduced. The device is affordable for single use, obviating the difficulty and possible incompleteness of sterilization between uses. The first interlocking chamber has an inlet appointed to be supplied with regulated, controlled low pressure and controlled temperature heated or cooled air. The second interlocking chamber has a plurality of air venting apertures in said bottom surface of said air-inflated pad. The second interlocking chamber has an inlet appointed to be supplied with ambient air at a regulated, controlled pressure to facilitate lifting and lateral displacement during patient transfer. The device may be easily re-employed when the patient is transferred from one location to another and may function as an alternating pressure mattress if needed.

The patient transfer device comprises a base, a central pole, a ceiling support, a lift system, a horizontal handle, and a support belt. The patient transfer device may be adapted to assist a caregiver in moving a patient from a first seated location to a second seated location by holding the patient in an elevated seated position while the patient is moved from a first rotational orientation to a second rotational orientation. The base may rest on a floor to provide stability. The central pole may rise vertically upwards to the ceiling support. The central pole may be extended using the lift system to press the ceiling support against a ceiling to provide additional support. The horizontal handle and the support belt may be adapted to hold the patient in the elevated seated position while the patient is moved.

TRAUMA GURNEY WITH ENHANCED PATIENT TRANSFER CAPABILITIES
20220226178 · 2022-07-21 ·

A trauma gurney includes a base connected to a frame by a vertical adjustment mechanism. The base is configured that it can be maneuvered over a receiving table. The frame holds a detachable platform suitable for the positioning of a patient thereon. Actuation of the adjustment mechanism allows the frame to be lowered and the patient platform to be detached. The patient platform is configured to be non-interfering with various procedures such as MRI procedures so the patient platform can remain with the patient after the patient has been transferred without adverse effects to the procedures. The patient platform can also be reattached to the frame after it has been removed. The trauma gurney beneficially allows a patient to be transferred from the gurney to another surface, such as for imaging, without requiring a conventional lateral transfer. Similarly, the trauma gurney allows a patient to be transferred back to the gurney.

A frame includes a left upright member with a longitudinal open-ended tube at its lower end, a right upright member with a longitudinal open-ended tube at its lower end, and cross member(s) connecting together the upright members in a transversely spaced-apart arrangement wide enough to straddle a person's thighs or hips between the left and right tubes. A sheet of flexible material has left and right pairs of collinear sleeves, with gaps therebetween, attached to lower portions of corresponding left and right edges of the sheet. Left and right rods inserted through the corresponding sleeves, and through the corresponding tubes in the gaps between the sleeves, and attachment of an upper portion of the sheet to an upper portion of the frame, form an upright seat for supporting and lifting a person.

A cradle lift assist harness for assisting patients who are unable to independently get up from the floor to return to a chair, a bed or ambulation is disclosed. The harness includes a first tension member having a first handle. Further, the harness includes second and third tension members, each being longitudinally extended and having a first end respectively coupled to an end of the first tension member. The second and third tension members each respectively have a second end releasably coupled one to the other to form a cradle support about a patient. A second handle is disposed proximate to the second end of one of the second and third tension members. The cradle that is formed is configured to have a respective intermediate portion thereof be in contiguous contact with portions of a patient's buttocks as tension forces are applied to the first and second handles.
